  1. Clyde, this happens in Kentucky but was implemented by the KHSAA, they were ahead of the game. It has been mentioned that KY is going to put something into legislation like this possibly in the next general assembly.
  2. Congrats to Coach Hicks and the Braves on a great win. This team has a lot of grit and alwyas keeps fighting. If their shooters are on and Hurley gets to the rim they can be very dangerous. Especially when you look at their statur compared to Owen's big men. Keep working hard, the 32nd is going to be a fun race this year.
  3. I can say this minus the bashing that is being thrown around, this is a great high school district rival. The next few meetings should be fun to watch and I hope I can make it to these battles. As for Coach Kinmon, Coach Utter and coach Hicks, I say thank you for all that you did for my sons when they played for you. It was truly great to watch them compete night after night. I will say that I have always said maniac that it was totally wrong for the administration to make Kinmon leave mid-season. As for all the other stuff on here I guess all is fair in love and war. Happy New Year to all
  4. I am not defending anyone here and have no problems with Hicks or the players at Grant, I in fact support them and hope they win every game but BGCat that program was not a train wreck in years past and as a long time fan I resent the fact you would say that seeing how I had two sons play for all three coaches in the past 4 years. The kids at Grant and the coaches work hard. I wish Kinmon and Walton the best. Sounds like this was a great game and looks like the future match ups will be good ones to watch.
  5. Ryle is in there 2nd year of a middle school team and really this was the first year for it. The first year they had 33 players as they started it up, this year 5th through 8th grade they had 150 plus kids. All levels had huge success and there freshman had a great season that I believe included a win versus Highlands. It will take time to build but the Union Raiders will only grow stronger and so will the Raiders varsity thanks to the hard work of the kids and the coaches day in and day out. Woodrow you said it best and the great thing is with all the adversity the raiders face this year and still were able to have success, the seniors and the rest of the team battled everyday to be the best they could be. The underclassmen will only benefit from this experience and will be better prepared for the upcoming season.
  6. This thread makes no sense, what exactly is the problem at Ryle. As for the numbers they will be back to normal watch and see!!!
  7. Wow what a surprise, I can't understand what would have happened. Wish coach Poynter the best, if he is looking for a job he will make someone a good coach
  8. Holy cow, I figured this would be a better game, what happened to Walton tonight?
  9. It is true. I do not know why any coach would not be a member, if they are not a total lack of professionalism in my opinion. The KFCA does a lot for football in Kentucky and they need to be apart of that
  10. Man all I can say is that they said our pants would fit better after Jenny Craig, do you think they lied or was it the buffet before the game.
  11. I do know this about numbers. You can have numbers and they not be quality numbers. In my day we called those guys hamburger eaters. But I would say that the short time that the program has been around compared to the other powerhouses in NKY the Ryle program has done well. I know they have made it to the 2nd round or further the last three years in a row. The entire paid staff is coming back and the kids are ready to compete in the weight room. The addition to a feeder program will help the numbers. From the 5th and 6th grade who competed with Cov. Cath and Campbell County their teams finished 1st and tied for 2nd in their league. The 6th grade combined team beat the Boone county combined team and Cooper 6th grade team in a bowl. The 7th and 8th grade team in their first year made it to the final 8 in the middle school playoffs and the 8th grade team was undefeated in regular season and the 7th grade lost 1 game. The freshman team finished tied in the freshman league and beat highlands. The JV had a successul year with a winning season and the Varisty with all their injuries won 7 games, lost to the likes of Colerain, OH; columbus Desales, OH; Highlands; district champ Campbell Co. and lost the rematch to Boone 14-7. They did this without Travis Elliott, arguably the best RB in the state, and several other players who had their season ended due to injuries. They lost in the playoffs without 4 players that played in the Boone game the first time and have a solid core of Juniors coming back to be seniors next year. I will bet they will have over 20 seniors on next years team. You will see the numbers go up in Union, and they will be QUALITY numbers as well.
  12. Lee is a great guy, I wish him the best in his future ventures.

  14. Yes it can because they draw for the 6A, it is not like other classes where 1 plays 2 and 3 plays 4. This District 1 plays District 3 and District 5 plays district 7 and what about the even districts playing each other, how do they determine this
  15. How does it work in 6A when you have two #1 seeds and they are both from odd districts?
  16. 7- Male 5- Warren East 3- Bryan Station 2- LCA 1- Madison Central TB-- Warren East 2-
  17. Awesome Story and congrats to all involved for making this boys night and season big such a huge memory for him. Prayers and thoughts from Raider land. Wish him the best and it is amazing what high school athletics can do for young people, glad I am apart of it. Best of luck to the Pioneers and this young man. Keep up the fight Kevin
  18. Why do you continously throw cheap shots at Ryle, a Dixie fan comments about punting on 3rd down and you slam Ryle for spiking the ball on 4th down. They made a mistake but of course you don't make any. Where do you or did you coach? I understand that on message boards people can say what they want and behind a screen name when some people don't know who you are it is easy to slam people, especially the coaches and players. Sad thing is kids read this stuff too and it is a shame that their hard work is your punch line. Agree or disagree, coach Warner is the head coach of Ryle and you are NOT. I just ask that if you have a problem with coach Warner, which it is obvious you do, call the man, drop by and see him, I am sure he will talk to you about your issues with his coaching in a much more professional manner than you are showing on here. I just ask you think about the players that read this and take your problems with coach Warner elsewhere.
  19. If I had a vote it would go to Andy Stephens at Pulaski Southwestern, taking over in the midst of the resignation of Dale Anderson and bringing the team to competing like they have, I would say he has done a great job. Alot of good coaching jobs this year. Beatty, Tracey, Fowler, Haywood, even Warner at Ryle and what he has accomplished after losing Elliott and all the injuries has done a good job taking the team to the #2 seed in the playoffs. But the other big vote would have to go to Jim Mckee, team has impressed on Offense and defense.
