I don't recall Mason playing Grant in the recent past. There's no law that I know of saying that every single game has to be a meat grinder, but Grant is new on the Royals' schedule as far as I know.

Isn't Lexington Catholic the only state ranked game Mason has played this Year? That was ironic that they would play each other in Hawaii.I know they did play one National ranked team in Hawaii too.

Maybe it was Grant County saying " to be the best we must play the best".

I think they are getting them on the schedule to prepare for the next couple years.

Royals have an awesome 7th,8th and freshman class coming up lots talent there...

Royals have played two of the better teams in the 11th in Catholic and Madison Central. State ranked team in Ohio in Princeton, one of the better teams in the 16th in Rowan. The Hawaii team they lost to before Christmas was the defending state champions and oh yeah, the nationally ranked Mount Vernon team. They still have to play the nationally ranked and unbeaten Clark County team, and two tough road games at Covington Catholic and Ashland. Their schedule has been tough enough this year. Also worth noting that in 6 of the 8 losses, the Royals have either led or it has been a one possession game late, they have come up short, but this team will play its rear end off. They may not have the talent, but they play with effort.

 

As I said on another thread, this group will still get to 15 wins and an outside shot at 20. Getting to 15 wins would mark the TWENTIETH year in a row Mason County has had 15 wins or more. Pretty remarkable.

I know Grant may not be the "best" according to most but they have played some quality teams this year. They had LCA beat earlier in the year and lost by 4, a team that just beat Scott County. I think it is great to see Grant play some teams like that, you only get better by playing teams that challange you. Just for the record the JV beat Mason and lead form start to finish. Maybe in a couple of years Grant will give Mason a better game. The Setty kid was the difference, 26 points, he tought to handle size wise for the smaller Braves. GOod luck to both teams the rest of the way.

I don't see it unless it's the 7th grade, I haven't seen them play. The 8th has some "hold-back" kids that won't grow and the Freshmen are struggling now......

Grant had no answer for Setty but the Kinmon kid who had been playing pretty good had a bad shooting night for Grant.
