Mason County 66 Grant County 44

Featured Replies

Grant had no answer for Setty but the Kinmon kid who had been playing pretty good had a bad shooting night for Grant.

A typical response from a politician there politician. Yes, Setty is usually a hard match up for a lot of teams and he will get his 17 to 20 ppg. Grant's tallest player might be 6'2" at best. I guess MC had no answer for Hunt since he had 19.

Hunt dropping 19 is something Grant has been waiting for but they are not good enough for another good player to have an off night.

Was not [/b]so much wondering that, but why was they playing Grant County? I don't recall Mason County playing Grant County ever

Back in the mid to late 1980's there was a Conference called the Burley Belt Conference. It consisted of Mason County, Maysville, Grant County, Scott County, Paris, Bourbon County, Harrison County and I think the 8th school was Montgomery County. Not sure on the 8th school though. It was a tough conference, I can remember going and playing in my first Varsity game as a Sophomore and getting to guard Deron Feldhaus in the Fieldhouse. That was good Basketball!

Rule #13

Why is Mason Co playing a team with a record that will not challenge them for post season?

Because the coach chooses to play them for his own reason. This is just another one of your many continuous comments which indicate how jealous you are of Mason County. A difficult schedule is not always the best for every team and does not necessarily translate to post season success. Although in a different time, former Mason County Coach Allen Feldhaus didn't usually play a strong schedule but was very successful in the post season and I'm sure there are many other examples. Many times, a strong schedule can wear a team out and peaking during tournament time is much more important, just ask Coach O'Hearn.

Remember the Burley Belt, but don't recall Grant County or Scott County being a part of it, wasn't MMI and either Harrison County or Nicholas County a part of it?

Grant was in the Burley belt for about 3 years. Their former coach, Ron Kinmon, Jeff Stone, and a real good athlete by the name of Pelfrey played at that time.

Don't be so defensive Royals and Saints, success tends to make people jealous or at least envious. Thats a credit to MC longevity.

Good luck to Grant County and any other teams that you follow.:thumb:

How about the Walton-Grant matchup Feb. 1st. Apparently Walton manhandled Grant 1st time round, wonder if this game is going to be any different.

I would think this time around it will be much closer. Grant County is a much improved team from their last meeting.

Early on I heard a lot of good things about Boone County, haven't heard much lately, can they win the boys 9th. region.

1st matchup between Walton and Grant County was close until the 4th quarter.

Do not remember that at all,was Scott County and MMI in it as well?

I do not remember Scott or MMI being in the Burley belt, but I am sure on Grant, Bourbon had an 8th grader named Williams that was behind a couple years. He was about 6ft5 but never really panned out as he got older.
