  1. I'm not at all a Haskins fan at all but I do think that this is worth mentioning...Haskins is 15th overall on KY's all-time wins list...he got to 15th coaching at the following schools... Heath Calloway Co. Lone Oak Ballard Memorial and McCracken Co. The fact that the guy won 270+ games at those schools is nothing short of remarkable.
  2. Sure, makes a lot of sense. Kid gets four years of high school and gets part of that oh so rare and valued time wiped out cause some adult screwed up. Just another reminder that Ohio is cold, ugly, and sucks.
  3. Is anyone on here really surprised? I think if you go back and look through the threads on here (and Hoss would know better than me) you will see most of the BG people strongly maintaining that they have believed all along that they'll see JH in the semi's.
  4. ...within a reasonable scope, as I think six classes are, it's all the same to me. Personally, I like 4 classes PLUS a super class of 16-20 select teams picked based on school size along with the open offer to any school to participate...BUT that's not going to happen and I just tire of all the negative class and playoff talk. Good lord, it's high school football. Let's just all enjoy it. You'll get you competitive games in the late rounds.
  5. That's the silliest argument I've seen presented on here yet. You just compared a move of 4 to 6 to 4 to 25 and the value associated with it.
  6. This....the 2006 Warren East team played in the 4 class system and was the most talented, deepest East team there has ever been. They went 10-2...with both losses to BG. So the best team in school history gets to experience the awesome pageantry of getting knocked out in the SECOND round? Yippee!
  7. I repeat...go find ONE SINGLE player or coach who has won a ring in the six class system who feels that the value was diminished. I happen to be able to speak from experience. I have a ring from both the four and six class systems. They both shine up equally to me.
  8. Yay Ohio...go move there then. Take your kids there and let them play there. Who really cares if there are six state champions or four? There were blowouts in the state games with four classes just as there are now. Go find a kid or coach with a ring that was won since 2007 and ask them if they feel that its value was diminished by six classes.
  9. South moves to 4A next year where the honeymoon ends. They'll still be a solid team, but they will be playing a much more difficult schedule full of teams that can run. It won't be the same....
  10. Central was loaded talent wise this year...even before Feggins came at WR. They lacked some line bodies, but the skill and defensive personnel was top notch.
  11. I disagree...BG was asleep for the first quarter and then completely blew the doors off Pulaski for the remainder of the game. It was in no way a "competitive" game beyond Pulaski's second score. To Pulaski's credit, they did hit BG in the mouth fearlessly and fought till the end, but it was a one-sided affair none-the-less.
  12. Pulaski, a team that three weeks ago seemed like a lock to make it to the Finals will likely have to go: 1. Harlan and Larkey in the mud that is Pulaski's home field...which is tough 2. The fighting D. Harris's in the mud...did I mention he's a big, powerful mud thriving back? 3. Southwestern who physically beat them down in week 9 4. Anderson That's a tough four games, and is even tougher without Hall.
  13. Field...South is much better than I expected but they really haven't played much...but then again, there really isn't much in 3A...
  14. Not really sure but on all the years, but for a few select years, these would be my bets... 1994...Trinty 1995...BG 1996...Highlands 1998...Highlands 1999...Highlands 2002...Trinity 2003...Boyle 2004...X 2006...Cov Cath 2010...Trintiy 2011...Trinity 2013...BG Just my picks based on seeing most of the games these years.
  15. Money...plain and simple. A bad playoff game for a bad team that plays a great team still generates a split on the gate of around $1,000 or more...that's a $1,000 that bad team didn't have.
  16. I'll believe someone can beat JH in the playoffs when someone actually does it. Until then, I expect to see the Bulldogs playing late in November.
  17. I think a little too much credence is being given to Week 11 results. Teams take odd approaches in week 11 as that the games mean essentially nothing unless a tie breaker is in the mix. I'll still say Owensboro on a turf field with a one-hitter-quitter game is a contender. You never know about Boyle and Chuck Smith and Lex Cath, if they could ever get healthy, is dangerous too. ...and as someone else alluded to, injuries can change the scope of things dramatically.
  18. Neither BG not Central care about highlands anymore than Highlands cares about BG or Central. Next year, BG will care about Highlands...Central still will not. But for now, You're. Just. Another. Game.
  19. I'll eat my crow. I've argued Highlands and Owensboro are even up till tonight. I was wrong.
  20. Why say this? The score speaks for itself. This reeks of insecurity.
  21. I've said it all year...when it turns cold and it starts to rain and the wind is blowing, Caldwell and that D are done for when they play people with a pulse. ...that and Mayfield is lights-out the class of 1A football, if not Western Kentucky football.
  22. Tonight's score was completely dictated by the field. There was literally no grass on Pulaski's field between the hashes. Total mud pit. I think BG is still what they've been all year: an exceptional front 7 on D and an efficiently methodical offense where every skill player but the QB is a Soph. or Jr.
  23. I would take myself, because, like Uncle Rico, I could throw a ball over those mountains... For Highlands, I would take two guys with flat top hair cuts, black shoes, a conviction of refusal to take their helmet off, drink water, or take a knee...
  24. I'd argue that Graves has hit the stride we all expected of them. If I were Warren Central, I would not want to be going there. I would rank them... 1. BG 2. Warren Central 3. Southwestern 4. Pulaski 5. Graves Beyond that, I really don't think any other team has much of a chance. I say that of course under the assumption that Harris does not return for Mad. South...if he does, then I believe that by himself, he could get them to the Finals. 5A, outside of BG and a few others, is just bad this year.
