Okay, just sitting here reading all the match ups and thinking about the upcoming playoffs and the question popped in my mind that can maybe generate some conversation. We alluded to it in many other threads, but just curious...since 1980 (34 years), if there were no classifications, what would the title distribution look like? So 34 titles to give, the the tally look like?

 

Examples

Trinity - 10 title

St X - 7 titles

Male - 3 titles

HHS - 14 titles (Kidding!)

BG - 0 titles (for you PP92!)

 

But you get the idea!

There are a limited amount of teams who are primed to compete year in and year out.

 

You've listed the top tier teams. I just find it unfortunate that the talented teams are dispersed through 6 classes. Now they have no reason to schedule tough opponents outside district.

I know there will be some chest bumping, but I'm interested in hearing from the intelligent BGPers! (kidding). But really there are some very knowledgeable folks that can give some well thought out answers. I'm really just curious to see one of them take it on as a project and maybe give us the champion of each year and a few thoughts as to "why".

Since you put the call out for knowledgable BGPers my ears began to burn...

 

Maybe to be fair and make sure everyone will someday get a title the KHASSA could make any and all teams that have won a title to join and compete in their own league so as to not leave any kid behind...:thumb:

2006...Cov Cath

Just my picks based on seeing most of the games these years.

Trinity in 88.

Clark County in 91.

Covington Catholic in 87.

 

Pretty confident in these picks.

Highlands 34

 

Everyone else, 0.

LexCath's best chance with no classes would be the 2005 3A state champions team. Only loss was a 37-34 defeat to St. X on a last second field goal. St. X ended as a runner-up in 4A losing to a Trinity team they had previously blown out. At the end of the season that LexCath was playing their best ball behind Justin Burke, who got robbed of Mr. Football that season.

 

Also in 2012 I'd take Trinity, I saw all of the big 3 contenders that year (T, BG, and Highlands) and the Rocks were the best.

That's interesting because what would or could you take into account. Say a team that didn't win a tittle but may have been the "best" team that year for instance the 6a bracket has probably the'best" teams on one side...

No, if they didn't win a title in their own class, then they weren't even the best in that class. PERIOD!
