I'm not so sure this holds totally true...Boone gave Cov. Cath all they wanted for a half and we all kind of just said it was Boone playing well and Cov. Cath playing sloppy...but it now appears that it may have been Boone playing well and Cov. Cath just not being nearly as good as advertised...the rest of Cov. Cath's schedule is as average as it gets and the two real opponents they have played have crushed them. I wouldn't knock them out of the top 5 as that they're still probably a solid team, but I do think that much like Collins did last year, Owensboro or Mad North Hopkins could sneak up on the East's winner and catch them with a hay maker in a one-game-shot at the championship. Highlands game against Campbell Co. is concerning for their argument of invincibility against the rest of 4A. You would be hard pressed to convince me Campbell is better than Boyle, Johnson Central, Obro, or Mad. N. Hopkins...that said, I would wage most of my $100 on the Bluebirds if it came down to it.

I'm not sure Owensboro and Mad. N. Hopkins aren't #2 and #3 in 4A now...Cov. Cath appears to not be quite what we all thought they were.

For those interested...the same McCallie team that squeaked by BG last week just completely demolished Ensworth who opened the season with a 21-14 victory against Trinity. ...and for you Blackman chest beaters, BG would like to apologize for dropping y'all, but they could only keep one TN team, and wanted to keep the better of the two. :wave:

So a newspaper writer writes an article that jeopardizes the reputation and job security of a coach based on his opinion that a bounty was placed in a game in which Team A knocked Team B's player out of the game...without ever getting a penalty for doing so...and an editor lets it go to print... ...I think a few people are going to lose their jobs over this one, but I HIGHLY doubt it's going to be a football coach of any kind.

For St. X or Trinity to EVER lose in JV to schools that are not on their numbers level is a tragic mishap within those programs. Both schools boast rosters of 99 Varsity kids, almost all of which are Jr.'s and Sr.'s...which means at the minimum, there are probably around 70-90 Fr. and Soph.'s. When you have numbers like those and can't beat the daylights out of everyone who doesn't have those numbers, it is a failing of the division of responsibilities within the coaching staff. That St. X has lost to De Sales and Central is a BAD sign, regardless of level.

OK, this whole letting coaches go in the middle of seasons is insane. Absolute idiocy.

I do continue to wonder why TN DII schools like McCallie and Ensworth must travel to KY to find games given that Blackman seems so egear to play all? In fact, looking at the Blaze's all time records, it seems that they never have played a TN DII school. Odd...

After all Doubletake's talk of SW closing the gap on BG, where does this game, where BG didn't play it's top three Soph.'s including Carathores, leave that argument?

I think Franklin Simpson may be a bit better than everyone thinks...their only loss is to Battle Ground Academy and even there, it's not like they got run out of the stadium. I might rank them as high as 6th.

I'd say we'll have a good idea of who's 1 and who's 2 by Saturday....

I am not a fan of the Spartans but I would put them above Bourbon Co. Man, 3A is as bad as it's ever been this year.

You are spot on...with BG's cupcake schedule that has included St. X, Blackman, McCallie, Lex. Cath, Warren Central, John Hardin, Christian Co., Owensboro, and Henry Clay over the past three years, there is little doubt that the Purples will be shocked and awed by the introduction of Highlands and Cov. Cath's overwhelming size, speed, and coaching in 2015 and beyond...

Ensworth was significantly better last year than they are this year...they "crushed" McCallie 28-14 at Ensworth. The go to McCallie this year. McCallie is better this year than they were last year. Good luck with that prediction.

Thank God we don't play down there then...up here in poor little ol' KY, we raise our kids like men and as men teaching men-to-be, we don't pat our Johnny on the rear end every time he screws up and put a band aide of an excuse on every little mistake. Up here, we hold our kids accountable and don't tolerate that kind of junk, 17 or not. It may happen, but ain't no parent getting on here to justify it. You know, up here in poor little ol' KY.

Y'all are like a broken record...you've got a million excuses for why you "should" have won or "would" have won. Blackman had the lead on BG with two minutes left in the game and 70 yards between BG and the end zone. They failed. At the end of that failure of a drive for them, everyone in KY and TN knew that on 4th and long, BG was going to throw the ball to Fant, and Blackman maned him up with their best player...who failed too. No flags were thrown on that failure of a drive. No referee interference occured on that failure of a drive. Your beloved Blackman Blaze just failed...just like BG did against McCallie. The difference in the two programs (other than state championships, wins, winning streaks, facilities, and support) is that BG has taken their loss on the chin like a man. Blackman, even a year later continues to plead a weak boo-hoo case like a spoiled brat.

I assume that would explain the Blackman player who was ejected this year on national TV against Oakland for the similar antics that the BG faithful witnessed last year?

...and Blackman fans never fail to live up to what's expected of them.

I put it this way...almost every one of our teams has that 5'10 - 6'0 kid who either plays OL or ILB, or RB, or wherever and is the heart of our team. He is all hustle, all leadership, and all hard work. He kills it in the off season and gets after it in practice. He's great at football, and is a rebound machine in basketball, and is our starting pitcher in the Spring. He's great in the school building and while he may raise a little cain on the weekends he's good to his girlfriend and good to his momma. He's that all-American boy that's in every high school in America. But when the season is over, he's gonna have a chance to go to Campbellsville or Pikeville and that's about it. Why? 'Cause he's just a little too short, just a step slow, and frankly, for as hard as he goes, he just doesn't have "it". What's "it"? ..."It" is that God-given blessing that separates the born players from the made players. And "It" is as real as can be, and if you've been around football long enough, you'll know "it" as soon as you see it.

Some that have always gotten to me. The smoke from a grill rising into the evening just as the sun's setting. The National Anthem in small KY towns in Fall. That feeling in your gut just before the opening kickoff. When schools that aren't supposed to make a run make one and the way it transforms the entire community. Talking with your buddies about games you played 20 years ago like it was yesterday. Waking up early on Saturday, going to get coffee and a paper to read about the night before's game.

Once again, having all of y'all to argue with!

Lex Cath should win this one in a blowout...Mad. Central is about as common as it gets. If the Knights drop this one, it will be a brutal disappointment.

This year, no way Pulaski is 5 spaces behind BG, heck, they may be better than BG...but last year? Last year they were WAY behind BG. Pulaski scored the first 14 and then was outscored 49-0 for the rest of the game. Credit Pulaski for coming to play and having no fear of punching the Purples in the mouth, but the two teams were no where close to one another. Now this year, that may be a different story...

We all fell for SW's schedule last year. When we are all making the comment, "Let's see how they handle Daviess Co.", you've got to be a little skeptical. But I will say, to-date, SW has done all that needs to be done to be considered legit.
