Not a big shocker here. There is more to this story then what is being made public. No I don't know anything, I'm not around the team like I use to be, but there is more to this. Phi is a good guy, just a tough situation. The talent level at Lynn Camp is not the same as it use to be. However they still should not be losing to Pineville by 50. Hopefully we can get a coach from not around here that can build this program. We need to start with getting the youth program back.

It will never happen without the youth program being built back as you stated, and may take years before the results are seen. Coach Russell recognized that problem and I know that he was frustrated with the lack of support in doing it.

OK, this whole letting coaches go in the middle of seasons is insane. Absolute idiocy.

Growing up, I don't think I EVER heard of a hs coach being let go mid season barring some sort of huge scandal/criminal act. Now it's getting almost commonplace. This isn't the pros, but evidently some schools think it is.

To quote the movie 300 "This is madness". Again, I can understand if you have ZERO teaching duties and you make 80K to coach...but that's Texas football not KY football. What are school districts hiring? 99% of the head coaches in this state are hired as teachers who coach, not the other way around. Start paying guys to coach instead of teach, give him the facilities he needs, and allow recruiting and I can see justifying this kind of reckless behavior.

What good does it do to fire the coach in the middle of the season? It's not like they can find a solid coach who's not already at the school to come in and make immediate changes.

Exactly. They promoted two assistants to be co-coaches. The guess is those two coaches either teach or are para-professionals. Their system won't be too much different than the first coach, considering it would be crazy to change everything halfway through the year. Unless there is more to the story, this was a poor decision.

Something has happened. Something more than bad football or a losing record for this to happen. I have no idea what, but something has to be going on. I never was sold on this hire and have not liked some of the things I saw on the field, but it always felt like a bad fit to me. It is what it is now and it is time to move on. Like I said, I have no clue as to what transpired but something was bad enough for the administration and Super to pull the trigger.

I know him too, when he taught at GRC. I hate this for him, his family and the team. Anyone know what happened?

The only thing that I have heard is that some of the team was threatening to quit if they didn't make a change. No sure what that is teaching them, if this is indeed true.
