I am going to say that either Lexington Catholic is not a Top 10 team or 4A is painfully weak.

MadisonC entral is a bad team and they nearly beat LexCath.

Right now it looks like you have a Top 5 and then the gap to everyone else is MASSIVE

I think Franklin Simpson may be a bit better than everyone thinks...their only loss is to Battle Ground Academy and even there, it's not like they got run out of the stadium. I might rank them as high as 6th.

That is roughly true of every single class. It is the joy of 6 classes.

3/6

1A, 2A, and 6A all look pretty solid this year.

This is the best I have seen 1A and 6A since the 6 Class System.

So the strength of 4A is based on LexCath and how good they are but none of the other classes are affected by certain teams being up or down? That makes sense.

No... I was speaking hypothetically.

4A is down because after the Top 5 I dont see a single team that in the past couple years would be ranked in the 4A Top 10. Highlands and Boyle aren't nearly as good as teams form their past.

3A is down because the #1 team in the class just lost to a 1A team and still clearly have the best resume to stay #1

5A is down because Bowling Green isnt nearly as dominant as the past 4 years... and outside of Pulaski County the next best teams are extremely flawed. madison Southern is the clear cut #3 and they are essentially a one horse rodeo.

The bolded is all I agree with.

5A has always been one or two teams dominating and that's it. Even when Highlands was 5A it was still ran by one team. BG isn't as dominant as last season but 5A is still a one and half team classification. Anything other than a BG/Pulaski County state final will likely be a shock to the masses.

4A has some unknowns. Highlands may not be as dominant as they have been but truthfully they aren't even the defending champs so why should Highlands get a pass? Until this Friday we don't know for sure who the best team is to date in 4A.

Have you seen Boyle play this season or are you just scoreboard watching? I'll be the first to admit that Boyle's offense doesn't have the explosive playmakers of years past but they are still Boyle County. I'd argue that this year's team is better than last year's team that only lost one game.

Last I saw Owensboro gave Bowling Green all they wanted.

I hear North Oldham has a stud RB and they just beat a ranked 5A team. How good is North Oldham?

Franklin-Simpson is quietly having an impressive season.

Is Johnson Central legit this year? Won't know until the playoffs.

Maybe it's just me but 4A may be down by past year's standards but for me in a year when we aren't just giving Highlands the trophy or an automatic spot in the finals and planning for next season I'm thinking 4A is about the same as it always has been. At least it is more wide open than year's past.

For the past few years you have had BG... but you have also had Warren Central and/or John Hardin who could take on all comers. There was always a good team from the East and 3-4 solid teams that could at least push them. NKY 5A was good a lone solid team and CKY could produce a team like Franklin County. When you took a 5A Top 10..though it was dominated by one team... teams 2-5 could hang with nearly anyone... and teams 6-10 were still very solid clubs.

This year you don't have that at all. You have Bowling Green and you have Pulaski...then you have a bad team with a great player in Madison Southern... after that it drops drastically. John Hardin is way down. Warren Central was dominated by a 2A team.

By the way I have watched Boyle video...and frankly came away very unimpressed for what i was expecting. I have been following them very closely since they will be moving to 3A. Dont take that as me saying they are a bad team... but I didn't see a team capable of winning a State Title... which being ranked as the clear cut #3 you would expect. They have a very disjointed offense and their defense isn't what you expect from a Coach Smith defense right now. Boyle struggled to put away two teams they appeared to have completely outclassed.

Owensboro is the only team in 4A who has legitimately raised eyebrows (outside of the normal subjects)..but the rest of the class seems painfully mediocre. Ashland usually fields a solid team and they are way down. Knox Central at #6 just got beat by a team ranked #6 in the "weak 3A" you just agreed about. This is a team supposed to be the best of the rest according to these rankings. Russell County has had solid teams and they aren't even in the picture.

The Quality Depth is not there in either class.... and the dominant teams aren't at their most dominant.

I think there are only 12 teams in the entire class with a winning record. One of those is Warren East, which got their head handed to them the other night. I think the consensus here is that while 4A may be more interesting in not knowing exactly who is going to take it, the class is just real, real poor in depth.

I can't speak for other teams in 4 but Lex Catholic has played a really good schedule. They are 2-3 because of the injuries on defense. We lost all 4 of the starting LB in the 3-4 scheme. Had to play kiss who probably needed to learn before being thrown in against the opposition we faced. One is returning this week, and 3 by the time we fave Boyle 10/3

The Owensboro-Madisonville North Hopkins game this week will shed some light on just how good North Hopkins really is. Owensboro runs a unique, now a days, offense. I really enjoyed seeing them execute the flex bone option against Bowling Green with lots of success. Their backs run low and hard and carry out their fakes which is the staple of the option offense. I haven't had the opportunity to watch North Hopkins this year but am looking forward to it Friday night.
