  1. Preston has put the "tough" back into Franklin...the Cats are rolling and have their sights set dead on MNH and Obro.
  2. McCallie is a strong run team and Owensboro doesn't know what the forward pass is. I would say: Warren Central Southwestern Pulaski Mad. Southern w/ Harris All could beat BG on the right night...and there is the unknown of Region 2 who would host BG if they got to the 4th round. This BG team is not a lights-out favorite to just walk through the playoffs. JMO
  3. To use your argument, you didn't see it. BG was up like 39-10 before putting in their JV.
  4. 1. I find it interesting how you know who I have and have not seen. I've seen a little football in my day. I've seen some guys named Penn State really up close (not Ohio HS football, but I'd say it's about the same). 2. I'm going to defend KY football teams to the death, 'cause I'm a KY guy. Played in KY, coached in KY, love KY. OH is a great football state and as a whole is better than KY by a long shot, but I have NO DOUBT that KY's eliete 2-3 each year can play with OH's eliete 2-3 teams each year. Beyond that, for teams 4-20, I'll give the nod to OH, but not at the tippy top.
  5. So do you have an actual rationale for why a St. X team that BG completely blew out was able to stay close to Moeller in '13, but BG wouldn't have been able to?
  6. Outside of UK and Vandy, the SEC is winning with kids and rosters predominantly from their home states. The SEC is so far ahead of the Big 10 (12?) that any comparison is silly. Ohio does have a wealth of talent and tradition. The atmospheres of the powers in Ohio is unreal. But head to head, the southern 150 miles of Florida by itself has as much if not more takent than the whole state of Ohio. Mississippi and Miss. St. ain't winning with rosters built on kids from up north. Regardless of the state south of TN, the high end talent just isn't the same.
  7. I meant to say Murray. My apologies, Shanklin played very well against BG and was not hurt.
  8. I saw 2013 St. X pretty close up. They were AWFUL on defense and by the time they played mighty Moeller, they were missing at least one of their best backs...who BG knocked out. 1. I agree there are some very good teams up north. 2. It is comical to think that the talent and speed of the game north of TN is anywhere close to what it is south of there. the coaching and traditions may match up...but player for player, you are living on Mars if you think their is any comparison what-so-ever. It is not even close.
  9. I guess...:idunno: I mean, that untouchable Moeller team just BLASTED a 7-5 St. X 24-12...you know, the same St. X team that BG pretty much ran off the field...but hey, it's Ohio football and Lord know KY teams can't touch Ohio teams....
  10. If the Birds win yet ANOTHER state title, does it matter? The old guard hated Namath and his white shoes...well, right up until he packed "Mr. Flattop Black-Shoes" off the field with a loss in Super Bowl III.
  11. They played BG tough, albeit the score, and did so with a MASH unit of undersized, not-so-fast players. I call the ability to do that "Good Coaching".
  12. It appears after the BG game that WC may have lost Shanklin (their top target after Feggins) and their best CB.
  13. Running Clock. You sound like the Blackman folks...
  14. I respectfully disagree...the 2013 BG team was a national-level contender. they were huge up front on O, had tremendous depth, were playing almost all returning starters, had a phenomenal QB, and had a super star WR paired with top of the line skill players, had exceptional speed, and a very stout D. I think they would have beaten every team in Ohio in '13, as well as all but a slim few south of here.
  15. I was against their outright declaration of being #1 over Owensboro until this game with Elder...after hanging with Elder, I give them the clear #1 vote IMO. Owensboro is solid and will have a shot against them, but it appears Highlands is at least for now, the #1.
  16. Ah yes, this from the poster who advocates the "sleeping giant" nature of Taylor Co....
  17. You're failing to read the whole thread...go back and show me where ANYONE has "ruled Highlands out" in terms of 5A? ...now in terms of the rest of the state, then yeah, I would rule Highlands out against T, X, Male, and BG...that's not a knock, heck, that's like 4 out of 240+ teams. Would I rule BG out against any of those teams? no, and I don't think anyone on here would. ...so is BG down from last year? YES. From 2012 or 2011, no, probably not due to the strength of BG's front 7 on D this year. So, I guess we're both correct in our statements in a way. How about that?
  18. You're awfully late to the party...your beef with my post is essentially the point I have been selling this entire thread.
  19. Any team eh? Like, say, Trinity? The same Trinity that has two losses to KY teams? Uh, no. BG has destroyed everyone they were supposed to destroy. They have also beaten the #2 team in 4A, the #3 team in 5A, and the #2 team in 6A. Their only loss was on a last-second-come-from-behind drive by the #2 Division II school out of TN. So nah, your logic doesn't hold up.
  20. My bad...I meant 4A...and no, Highlands would have no shot against BG this year.
  21. Even if Harris comes back but loses in the Regional final and if Caldwell were to go all the way and Sindelar were to have a big Final game, I think he could steal it. KY loves a story like that.
  22. Adair continues on it's great year, roadblocked only by a 5A school playing in their 3A district.
  23. The comical part of this thread to me is that I have maintained throughout that Highlands can and may very well win the 5A title. I've said they are one of the top two in 5A...but that's not good enough. I think that kind of fanaticism to be "the absolute best" is a big part of why Highlands is so good every year.
  24. ...and the rationale of several of these Highlands posters as to why they are as good or will be as good as when they had DI-A talent and one of the best KY HS football coaches ever has been pretty much as I have expected.
