  1. No, more saying that Petrino may be overrated as an OC...He flopped with NFL talent at the Falcons...then was average at Arkansas... and then with a NFL RB didn't do much at WKU which then, in turn, took off like an offensive rocket after he left...and then at UofL in his first year with a first round WR for half the season, spends most his time relying on the D. Hard to argue with his early years, but recently, he's middle of the road, but I'm alluding to the luster wearing off...
  2. Perhaps their most impressive quality. Hard to argue against coaching that can handle that.
  3. UofL is at a disadvantage on the offensive side of the ball...odd as that may sound with Bobby P calling the shots...it was made abundantly clear Brohm is the superior offensive coach this past season and that players in his system will thrive regardless of the defense. On the Defensive side of the ball, U of L has become a small pipeline for future NFL players. They have it going on there when it comes to snagging and developing top flight talent. JMO ...also, congrats to the young man. Not a Trinity fan, but I root for KY kids and that's an awesome big-time DI offer!
  4. Trinity won't running clock: Ensworth, Brentwood Acad., Male or St. X They might against: Lafayette, Ballard, and PRP They will against: Jtown, Seneca, and Eastern That looks like a pretty balanced distribution of opponents to me. Solid but not ridiculous schedule.
  5. Lord, you're an unhappy person...do you ever post anything positive? That's the same thing people were saying about Ole Miss and Mississippi State a couple of years ago.
  6. Dixie Heights being that high is just silly...they were awful on the big stage against what could at best be called an average Trinity team.
  7. ...but at the end of the day, as an experienced coach he knows all that going in and he still took the job. Don't tell me about the labor, show me the baby. ...and also at the end of the day, he is a truly great offensive coach who has installed an awesome offense at Trinity that is in my mind, second only to Highland's offense in KY...and what makes him even better is that he will clinic with and talk to just about anyone who asks.
  8. I think he's a very solid OC and no doubt one of the best in KY but I think he'd need to prove that that great offense works outside the walls of the very unique dynamic that is Trinty. His one venture outside those walls was not a good one.
  9. ...on a note of who I would vote for...Hodge. Kid was an animal...and a leader...and was like Patton in leading the troops from being crushed at halftime to being state champs. How many kids hold it together when it looks like they're halfway through getting humiliated on the biggest stage and will a team to win?
  10. Eli Brown is going to the US Army All American game but isn't a finalist for Mr. Football... Drake Jackson is the #1 rated Center in the entire nation and isn't a finalist for Mr. Football... I think those two establish that Mr. Football isn't really a gauge of how good a player you are but rather a culmination of factors, many of which surround the general success of the team you are on.
  11. Eli Brown has been selected as the third player in as many years from KY to play in the US Army All American Bowl, the most prestigious showcase of high school talent in football. Congrats to Eli who is a great young man! Kentucky recruit Eli Brown of Warren East picked for U.S. Army All-American Bowl
  12. Of all the jobs open, I would only rate McCracken as a better job than East. Warren East is an excellent job now up for grabs and when you consider that they have the best player in the District who is only going to be a Soph. next year in Willie Reynolds, it's an outstanding job. Background on Reynolds...he is the cousin of former East players Shenard Holton 2005-2008 (UofL) and Eli Brown 20012-2014 (UK) and could be the best of the three by the time it's over.
  13. Seriously...Highlands is great on O...but they stink on D...anyone trying to argue the otherwise is silly. This is one thread that the Highlands contingent needs to just stay out of...in fact I really think Sweeper may have thrown that out there just to get that poor guy bashed. In the last three rounds of the playoffs, they gave up...34, 26, & 42 In 2014, they gave up...41 to Bryan Station, 38 to CC (FL), 49 to Elder, and then their playoff run...yes all good teams, but Highlands ain't too shabby themselves. Don't even get me started on 2013 when they were even worse. Highlands is the most consistently good offense in the state (yes, I said that out loud Trinity people) but they are shamefully bad on D.
  14. McCracken from the standpoint of facilities, quality of the school, quality of players and overall location (being in at least a small city) is a top 15 job in the state....the rest, I agree are pretty bad. The Louisville schools are intriguing because as has always been the trend for the "have-nots" of Jefferson Co., from that list of Moore, Wagener, and Seneca, at least one will make a run of like 9-3 or 10-2'ish in the next four years...though it's a crap-shoot which one it will be.
  15. Sometimes getting let go of from a bad place is the best thing that ever happens to a career... Jaggers will look back someday at Larue and enjoy the view from where he is.
  16. As a DC at a DI-A program, the salary value of being there for 3-5 years is equal to the value of 12-15 years of retirement checks...if he is offered the position, there is no way he passes. Chuck Smith will ALWAYS be able to come back to KY and teach/coach...his window for making big money grows smaller by the day.
  17. Agree with Highlands, disagree with CVov. Cath. They were a myth that we all bought into on here. They were not more than a "good" team this year. I agree that JC's win against Belfry was impressive albeit that it came when Belfry was the walking wounded and minus half their starters. As for those other's named: Rockcastle doesn't have the speed to play against the teams from the West I've named. Bourbon got clobbered by a bad Warren Central team last year with what was supposed to be their best team. Wayne had a nice thing two years ago. that nice thing graduated and they are back to being Wayne...a good, well coached team, that lacks the elite players to play with the likes of those teams I've named. Mason..well coached, nice players, can't win against the likes of the teams I've named IMHO. Again, I simply think it's a one sided class. But I've been wrong a lot before...
  18. I would argue he's the best QB they've had in a LONG time given what they're doing, and I'm including Prince when I say that. But I do agree that a school like Owensboro should be able to reload just like BG and Highlands every year.
  19. I call Johnson Central Cupcake eaters because of who they play. They finally played a decent Cov. Cath. team at home and got handled. Who else is over there? Ashland, Knox Central, Holmes? I just don't see any names that I'd put within 21 points of SW or JH...or Franklin Simpson, or Warren Central, or several others from the West. It just looks totally one sided to me. JMO
  20. That QB made them special. They'll be in the mix, but it's hard to see them as a realistic challenger without him.
  21. Hoge for Highlands...for most of the game it was Hoge and some other kids in white uniforms playing against Owensboro.
