Im reading some threads that Highlands and Cov Cath are moving to 5A next year and Conner and Cooper are jumping to 6A. I'm sure a number of teams are moving up or down depending on enrollment. If anyone has info on what state teams are moving up or down a class, I'd like to hear it. Does anyone know where you can find the KHSAA link that details all the new changes? Thanks!

here is the final realignment of ALL 6 classes. I could not find anything that says which teams are moving up or down just what is posted here.

Very possible. I think this years Dixie team was the best they ever had in their history and they lose a lot, so this I think was their one shot.

I disagree. While they lose a lot to graduation, they also have some very good young talent coming up. Soph. Barrett has a lot of speed, and current freshman class, O-Line and D-Line in particular has a lot of size. Next year will be tough as they will rely on a lot of young talent, but the following year could be very interesting.

I like this alignment. Mayfield up to 2a to take on a powerful Desales and Cal. Boyle and lex cath to challenge central and Corbin and Bell to challenge Belfry in the east in 3a. Totally new players in the 4A game: a laundry list of contenders there . In 5a powers bowling green and highlands together with some capable spoilers in Pulaski schools and cov cath in east and Owensboro and graves in west... Who cares about 6A...

No.

I believe Dixie Heights would have had a very good chance of winning the 5A state championship had they been 5A this year. That is not intended to take away from the Pulaski's championship this year--great year for that team and they won it on the field which is all that counts.

 

I just realized that next year's 5A will have 5 of this year's state finalists from this year (Dixie Heights, Graves, Pulaski, Highlands and Owenboro) and two districts with two state finalists (Graves and Owensboro in the first districts and Highlands and Dixie in the fifth district). 5A, 3A (with additions of LexCath and Boyle) and west half of 2A will be rugged next year. I expect Beechwood to own (win 50% or more of state championships with a 4 year sweep not unlikely) in the new 1A alignment.

No- district opponents would have been Cov Cath, Highlands and Grant Co ( as they will next year). Cov Cath beat them, I'm sure Highlands would have beat them, thus more than likely making them the 3 seed in their district.

They would have played CCH later in the season so saying CCH beat them doesn't apply as that was game 1 of the year. And who knows what would've happened in a game with HHS.

Whatever class you are in, you have to beat your opponent. Until they are beaten, the favorite in 5A has to be Highlands.

 

Hope the Covington Catholic Colonels can have something to say about it though.

 

It is a long offseason (Time to put in the work.) but the 2015 season will be here before we know it.

 

I enjoyed the 2014 season, and can't wait until September.

Bardstown and Thomas Nelson are moving up to 3AD3. Nelson County moves up to 5AD3.
