You're not listening! Teams share gate receipts in the playoffs, not in the regular season. And it comes down to money because that's what pays for new equipment, reconditioning, practice equipment, etc. That has, does, and always will play a factor in scheduling. Again, I don't care how far you travel in the playoffs. I care about unnecessary road trips in the regular season that no one benefits from. There is 0 connection between any of the NKY and Louisville teams. No one will travel either way. Why have a big bill and then a home game nobody comes to? It's a lose, lose. Especially for the Louisville teams that struggle financially anyway.

What is the difference during the regular season if you had a NKY 6A district of 6 teams from NKY or 2 3 team districts from NKY? As far as the regulasr season games goes, it makes zero difference at all and is why your thinking that they would HAVE to travel to Louisville during the regular season is wrong wrong and wrong.

 

Bascially if I'm understanding you correctly, you have a serious issue with Louisville teams traveling to NKY during the season to play....well then don't travel to NKY. I don't know where that even came into play anyway. NKY teams can play eachother during the season, we don't need Louisville teams to play and vice versa.

My gosh. 6A must have 32 teams. You can't have a 6 team district without having a 2 team district. That's why we have two 3 team districts...because the only alternative is a 4 team NKY district and a 2 team NKY/2 team Louisville district. That's the point! That alternative penalizes all involved and affects the regular season, which is what I've been saying all along. If you can figure out a way to lay it out better with 32 teams in 6A I'm sure the KHSAA would be all ears.

That rewards the top teams with a bye and costs their athletic departments their share of the first round gate receipts.

 

After expenses are paid out (emergency services, travel for visiting team, etc.) and considering the usually very low crowds they bring, most 1 seeds actually lose money on that 1st round game.

 

Trinity may be an exception because of their tremendous fan support, but seems like I remember reading on here even THEIR 1st round games when they were 1-seeds were very very low attendance-wise. I remember watching a film one year of them against a 4-seeded western Ky. school when it looked like the stands were about 1/3 full and I think the visiting team took the opportunity to get charter buses.

Dixie: they lose everybody, they will never replace Moore, they can't throw the football and they only run 3 plays

 

Cov Cath: the PHM is rioting and looting in the streets. They even tried to set a couch on fire but discovered the designer leather couches are flame retardant so they borrowed a fire pit and burnt a mini version of Coach Wirth in effigy. The looting hit an all time high when they found out Finke's Market was out of stuffed pork chops, steaks, and spicy gotta.

 

HHS: haven't you heard the sky is falling in the Fort. It's rumored the devil himself is walking around claiming souls sold for state championships. RCC9 was found curled in the fetal position in a corner quivering and sucking his thumb. They thought they were saved when the heavens opened up and Jesus looked down but that was quickly squashed when he said let'em burn. Everybody knows Jesus is a Cov Cath fan.

I started a thread earlier on BGP about KHSAA or a private vender building a sports complex in a centralized location in KY just for reasons you are stating above. Lets take class 6A, 32 teams, 8 districts if I'm reading correct. You could then have all the districts play each other on alternating years, this would knock out the excuses of to far to travel, trying to fill a complete schedule, the school's could split the money between them, more excitement for KY high school football fan bases, the kids get to see how football is played in other parts of KY. Most schools would never play each other unless they met up in the playoffs and that's if they make it past the 1st round. I'm sure most teams would have a good draw for crowds if they were playing top quality teams, instead of the same teams year in and year out. Now as for who got a raw deal I think every team in every class with the way districts and scheduling are done now.
