Ram
Seven finalists named for Kentucky's Mr. Football award Seven players, including four who won state championships earlier this month, have been named finalists for Kentucky’s Mr. Football award by The Associated Press. The winner is expected to be announced later this month. The Highlands duo of quarterback Beau Hoge and wide receiver Alex Veneman — who helped the Bluebirds capture their 23rd state title (Class 4-A) two weeks ago — are among the seven finalists. Hoge, who has committed Brigham Young, completed 235 of 373 passes for 3,459 yards and 35 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He also rushed for 865 yards and 26 touchdowns on 126 carries. Wireman
Does anyone even have a chance besides Harris or Sindelar? That's a serious question by the way. I don't know a lot of detail about high school football.
Ram
Interesting comment: Hall is a junior, and the Mr. Football award traditionally has been open only to seniors. The Associated Press no longer requires Mr. Football nominees to be seniors.

I don't know a lot of detail about high school football. I would say they are absolutely the front runners. Harris was just named the Paul Hornung Award winner for the states best football player. Sindelar was named the Kentucky Gatorade Player of the year earlier in the month.
PurplePride92
Interesting comment: Wow. I didn't even notice Mr. Hall at first. Wow. New day. If any class can be Mr. Football then IMO you HAVE to give it to Damien Harris.

Justafan#85
As I said on the last thread ref Mr. Football, there should be one for offense and defense. Seems every year it only contains offensive positions (QB/RB/WR)
PurplePride92
Harris is a senior. I know. What I am saying is that if it is no longer an award for just seniors then a player's entire high school career should be allowed to be used as reasoning for receiving the award. IMO no one on that list has had a better career from freshman to senior than Damien Harris, no one has been more valuable to their team all 4 years like Damien Harris and none of them are as heralded nationally as Damien Harris. If Riley Hall is now allowed to be a nominee and past practice is no longer status quo then Damien Harris should be Mr. Football. Until today I felt like it should be Sindelar or Hoge. I Know Harris is a stud and committed to UK. He is definitely the most recognized player of the bunch. But to say Sindelar wasn't as valuable to his team it stretching it a little bit. All you have to do is see the result of the Caldwell-Murray game to see his impact for the Tigers. These two are obviously the front-runners for Mr Football. Justafan#85
Don't see how Damion Harris can win. He might be the highest ranked player by the media outlets, but IMO how can you consider a guy who only played half the season. Not only did Crider play the whole season he had more rushing yards and TDs than Harris. I believe Beau Hodge, Highlands, Cody Crider, Graves County and Elijah Sindelar, Caldwell County are the front runners. All finished the season and led their teams to the playoffs and in some case won their respective state titles.
Brown
If it is not just seniors, then Owensboro Catholic should sue....Ray Zueberer, QB has 3661 yds and 56 TD's passing leading Ocath to a 10-2 record losing only to Murray and Owensboro. In the past I would disagree because OC didn't make the finals, but I have seen players not go to the finals and win this award. Sad he is not even a nominee. These two are obviously the front-runners for Mr Football. Look at Madison Southern's record with and without Harris. Without him you could make an argument to do away with football all together at Madison Southern. With him they were a credible top 10 team in 5A. I'm not saying Sindelar wasn't valuable to his team but Harris was valuable to the entire program at Madison Southern. I think they held the record for most consecutive losses at one point this century and won how many games in the four year period before Harris laced up his cleats? They were incredibly bad without him. This year they struggled with him doing everything but passing the ball to himself. It's no wonder his body broke down this season.
