Hoge should win it.

Are you feeling ok?

Just like the publicity side of this award, career stats play a big role in this decision or at least it traditionally has. Whether we like it or not there are several factors that play into this award (publicity, career stats, current season stats, team record). Just to name a few. These are not the end all be all, but do play a role in who receives this award. There are exceptions to every rule.

I think it is a toss up between Harris and Sindelar. The voters will have to overcome Harris' injury to give the award to him because Sindelar has put up awesome numbers. He has had a record setting season and the MVP of Caldwell by far. His TD's and passing yards are undeniable. SEASON: 3,609 yds passing; 49 passing TD's; 277.6 yds/game; 4 int; 145.5 passer rating. CAREER: 12,637 yds passing; 144 TD's; 234.0 yds/game; 135.0 passer rating. Numbers like this either haven't been done (Sindelar broke records this year - TD's career, and Consecutive games with a TD) or are in the top in most categories - Career passing yards #2, Career pass attempts #5, Career Completions #4, Career completion % #11, Season passing yards #24, Season completions #44, Season completion % #13 ,Season yds / game #24 ). Last Ky player to put up these type of numbers, in my memory, was Tim Couch (Kentucky Mr Football 1995).

Sindelar had a fantastic career and season, but my, how quick do we forget Corey Robinson's record breaking senior season at Lone Oak High School. That's not a knock on Sindelar, just saying that someone else has put up similar or better numbers since Couch.

What do career stats have to do with anything? This is an award for the 2014 football season. Hoge's numbers or more than comparable with those of Sindelar against a much tougher schedule.

I daresay that some of the voters do not vet this situation as much as some BGP'ers do. Ergo, career stats will matter.

Eli Brown is going to the US Army All American game but isn't a finalist for Mr. Football...

Drake Jackson is the #1 rated Center in the entire nation and isn't a finalist for Mr. Football...

I think those two establish that Mr. Football isn't really a gauge of how good a player you are but rather a culmination of factors, many of which surround the general success of the team you are on.

Doesn't mean a thing. I know lots of players that did not get invited to the US Army game. In fact one of them has two super bowl rings when he played and started for the Patriots, yea, the New England Patriots. Then he finished his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns. He had to retire due to injuries after about 8 years total in the NFL. There are several others that I will not bore you with. It's a great honor to play and be invited to this game, congrats to Eli, well deserved!!

I watch a lot of football and IMO Hoge had more did you just witness that moments than any kid I have watched play. He had some outstanding runs, a cannon thrown off his back leg and I am just going to run through the defender moments. He is going to be great at the next level. I truly believe that. Skills and football IQ is off the charts. He has my vote!

If the award is for the best high school player in Ky this year, then Hoge should win hands down. If it makes people feel better to vote for guys that played 5 or 6 games or guys with inflated stats beating little sisters of the poor before losing in the playoffs, then why have the award?

If it is for best player, what does it matter how many games they play? Have you seen Harris play?

Wow!!! This is getting interesting to say the least...I wonder if it comes down to a close vote if the voters take into consideration, academics, community service and just being a good representative of the State of KY...:thumb:

I heard Hoge could sing the national anthem, dance at halftime, and announce the games after the running clock started. Just something else to consider.

LOL...Idk about the dancing part but I would certainly think that when such a distinguished award is presented to the deserving man we should all hope that whoever it is that he will not only excel on the football field but also off the field.

As a State we want the rest of the nation to say "WOW!!! the Mr Football kid from KY is really good", don't want to hear "WOW!!!, that's the best they got?"

This is why we have to make sure the best Student/Athlete wins this award regardless of what College he goes to whether it is an in State school or not...We also have to make sure the kid is still enrolled in college in two yrs...:thumb:

For me, I just believe this should also be taken into consideration...

I realize that everyone will have their favorite. For me it is Sindelar. Others have Harris, Hoge, and many others. Please try to keep the punk comments to a minimum. Have some respect for the great talent this state has to offer.

How about everyone picking a guy. One rule. NO HOMER PICKS.

I would take Harris. Most dominating RB in the state. PERIOD

I'm suprised nobody has brought up Brooks. He went up against better competition than any of the other 6 players. Every week teams had to game plan to stop Brooks and still couldnt contain him, not only did he run for td's but he threw a couple as well. Again no knock on the other nominees this is just my opinion
