Bluegrasscard Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 6A Madison Central travels to 4A Lexington Catholic this weekend. Both teams are 1 and 3 with wins over less than quality opponents and losses to some strong teams. The Knights only win so far is against Allen County-Scottsville in the Rafferty Bowl opening week. Madison Central has notched a win against a struggling Woodford County team. Lexington Catholic has lost to Bowling Green, Lafayette and Bryan Station the past three weeks. Madison Central has lost to Madison Southern and Scott County the last two weeks. The Knights have hit the injury bug with some key players on the sidelines in the second half against Bryan Station. Seniors QB Reese Ryan, LB Chase Boling and LB Cody Mitchell were all the sidelines in the second half this past weekend. Mitchell was not dressed and is not likely to play this weekend. Status on Ryan and Boling is uncertain at this point. The Knights may be relying on junior Andy Thompson again this week at QB and hope to find a solution for a defense that is struggling. The Knights will likely look to junior Jaylen Jones to spearhead the attack if Ryan is still out. Thompson showed a new dynamic for the Knights Friday night with crafty runs in the second half, including a 41 yard TD. Jones continued his outstanding year against the Defenders and has over 500 yards rushing for the season. The Indians leading rusher is Korrion Crier with 181 yards in the first three games. Zachery Hardin is the Indians QB with 24 completions for 330 yards through the first three games. Who wins and why?
LEX Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Not sure if LC can stop anyone with all of the injuries on Defense. To have a chance they have to get a healthy Ryan on Frida and hope to score a bunch. Too large of a load to expect Jaylen to hold up. He has taken a lot of hits this season. MC 42 LC 45
Beach Bumm Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Don't know much what Madison Central have this season... But we all know that Lex Catholic needs to heal up quickly before the start of their district play. I am sure the coaching staff and players do not like to use excuses, " FIND A WAY ". and find they will. You all have to recognize that the Knights have lost to a 3X defending 5A Bowling Grn, 6A Lafayette who also nearly beat Scott Co and 6A Bryan St. who has great athletes. No shame to loose to those team, but I do find disturbing is that the game vs Bryan St. Lex Catholic showed no heart. O-line were getting whoop around, D- line were getting blasted backwards, receivers were dropping balls and appears to be scared to get hit. I got to give it to Jones, A Thompson and even Balcherack, those 3 played well under the circumstances. Get a win this week and all those wounds will heel up quickly. Do we know the status of # 6 and # 56?
Bluebird Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Bryan Station will beat a lot of folks this year!
Beach Bumm Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Bryan Station will beat a lot of folks this year! I believe so too. last week there was an article written here in Lexington calling for Lafayette to be the best in the city. I begg to differ after what Bryan St. did to Lex Catholic. Station is the best team this season.
LEX Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 #6 is a go #56 not sure. I agree with you Beach Jones, Balcirack, and A.Thompson were the only ones who fought hard
Knights Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Catholic should get the win or they are really in trouble. Hopefully we get some more players healthy for district play the following week.
Bluegrasscard Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 By the numbers LexCath should win this. This is an important game for Knights players and coaches to show they have bought into Perry and his systems.
PurplePride92 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 If LexCath loses this game then I'll believe they aren't as good as they normally are.
Cynical Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Lex Cath should win this one in a blowout...Mad. Central is about as common as it gets. If the Knights drop this one, it will be a brutal disappointment.
Knights Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Based on everything I have heard Reese will be playing this week so with their best player back now I'll comfortably take the Knights in a blowout.

LOL. Well DUH of course you would know. With a user name like that, Im sure you would have other insights than most of us. Just bustin your chops man. Do we know if Mitchell and Bowling can go?

This is an important game for Knights players and coaches to show they have bought into Perry and his systems. I follow Knights athletics and I must say I am not a believer of the system. I just do not think that Lex Catholic have the athletes to run that kind of fast pace offense. RB is good but we have to develope those wideout into a more explosive players. Hatton/ Thompson are a good possesion receivers, but they have to get some help from the others. Too many drops, drop that are TD's. Knights can not afford those come district play. And get healthy fast.

Real varsity game experience is the missing piece for the receivers.
