Norman is VERY good. Watusi, I didn't even realize the guy was a Belfry guy. He is VERY impartial and frankly a great play by play guy. I doubt he has any hopes, but I think he is honestly better than many college guys I have heard. The thing that make me want to cry is that I can't watch the games. I won't even make it this week.... ( Constitutional Law simply looms too large to make the 4 1/2 hour trip each way) My dad is there for me though. For those of you outside of the Belfry family. I have "seriously" considered lying to my fiance (who I marry in less than a month) to go to this game. I will listen online. I will be dang envious of those who can attend! Go Pirates! Play hard, play solid, take State!

It was game 1, but here is my take: Harris is an GOOD passer, but that kid simply does not like contact! I have not seen Somerset, but if he can consistenly commit 6 guys to rushing the passer and actually get a solid push, the game will be interesting. On the other hand, if Harris has time, he will destroy his opposition. Somerset needs to be VERY efficient on offense and SCORE. On defense, Somerset needs (regardless of what they usually do) pressure, pressure, pressure Harris. The Jumpers need to HIT Harris every time they can. I think NCC is playing well and has a very good front NCC 34 Somerset 21

I think it would be nice to play the Semi's at local college stadiums. Frankly tho, where would Belfry play, Pikeville college? CAM is NICER than Pikeville College's home field! If they were forced to play at Morehead, Belfry would actually have to travel FURTHER than the opponent this week. It is fine and just the way it is.

It will be webcast of WXCC from Belfry Pirate land. The play by play guy is excellent (he is actually a Pikeville guy, so only slightly homerish) and the color guy (is a homer) but really isn't that bad. He gets a little excitied when Belfry makes a play, but makes a conscious effort to give credit when the opponent does a nice job. Tune in LangerCat!

Mercer continues to look unbeatable.. Beyond looks, the infusion of skill and speed from Harrodsburg to an already talented Mercer Co. team may prove too much for the East this year. Congrats to Mercer Co! I just hope Russell or Belfry give them a real game. I think it would be awesome to see a 2a final that went down to the wire.

The two fan bases simply have a good idea of what to expect. There aren't all of those "so what kind of offense do you guys run" questions.

Belfry v Middlesboro are developing quite a series (although this is the last year)

I realize it is a long trip for many, but I think Middlesboro v Belfry is one will be a great game tommorrow. There are hotels in town that can accomodate overnight stays and it will be 2a football at its best. I hope to see people from outside Pike Co in attendance.

Male needs to back this up. Beat T convincingly and maybe Kentucky fans will buy in.

Middlesboro @ Belfry is a wash. No upset in that game. Two very evenly match squads.

Agreed... BUT Belfry fans have not been the same since 03.

I see this game being something more than the two teams. The Mountains will send their best team up against NK. I think JC wins in a squeeker, best I will go on record to say whichever team wins, the blue collar and hardnosed football of the mountains will gain some respect in the final 4. Heck, we might even see a mountain team in the finals!

I don't remember Middlesboro bringing a "great" crowd last year. As I said earlier. I have never seen the visitors side "packed" to standing room only capacity, and it holds roughtly 875 fans. I HOPE the entire Middlesboro community gets in their car/truck and makes the trip! If Middlesboro doesn't bring 1000 fans, then shame on them. They have a top 3 ranked team in the state!

Ive yet to see a visitor fill up their side. The home side has been full everytime I have been to a "decent" game. For big games, people will likely be standing. I think I have said it before, but I would have extended the grandstand another 5 yards at least on each end. Maybe 10. Week in and week out, it might not pack out, but I think Half of the home games would fill and each playoff game after the 1st round could use the additional seating. As much as I loved Vipperman, CAM is a pretty awesome place to watch a game. The surface is seriously top notch. The Restrooms are heated/cooled and the concession on the home side is ample. Additionally, and I think wonderfully, the vistor side also has its' own concession.

This thread seems to almost belong on the politics board. I certainly hope that the community of a state title team would care enough about the young men who win a title, to ensure that EVERY player gets a ring! I agree there is no need to ask the KHSAA to buy these rings. The FANS IMO owe at least to see that these kids get a ring.

I think the effect of turf v grass will be de minimus effect on the outcome.
