  1. Carter is VERY slow of foot. You can teach an athletic kid basketball skills, but you can't make an unathletic kid athletic.
  2. I offer another solution. Give adults 5 years of support. Provide them what is necessary to live etc, AND give them a sum of money designed to be used for training/retraining/education etc to become self sufficient. Allow the adult to forgo training/education for the first year (to allow them time to develop a plan) if they are enrolled and completed some type of training program by the second year, they will be able to keep the benefits. After 5years of basically state funding education/training, the people are on their own. States would have to work together in order to prevent people from just moving to another state. If the states couldn't come to a consensus, at least these "lifers" would be forced to move on - leaving behind a better citizerny.
  3. This past March (second weekend) I had nice success throwing a 4-8 foot diving red/brown crawdad style crankbait. We were fishing way up in the back of a creek, focusing on channel banks and points. In a day and a morning of fishing I caught 3 fish over 4lbs, another almost 3 lbs, 3 more fish over 15 inches, and a dozen or so short fish. It was probably the best day and half I have ever had. Not to mention it the temperature was in the high 70's and it was beautiful. I REALLY want to go bass fishing.
  4. Saw another Northup ad last night. She is really going after Fletcher's wrongdoing. That old guy in her ads irks me.
  5. I honestly think BOTH are coming to UK... At this point, UK is the school where Jai and Patrick can come in an IMMEDIATELY restore a UK program which has fallen on hard time back to its role at the top. These two players are top notch players. Just imagine the name they can make for themselves if they put UK back on the map. If PP and Jai join the team, they join a bona fide stud (Legion) and a guy who can be a good player (Stewart) Would be a top 3 that rivals any other school. Add in a good player in Stewart and UK would be back on the map. What high school kid wouldn't want to be remembered for being the REBIRTH
  6. UoL dominated UK last season. I'm not sure that gaurantees a repeat performance this season. I think Louisville fans need to be a humble in victory. Just imagine if UK wins. Just imagine.
  7. Roark's defense has cost Middlesboro some wins and maybe a championship IMO. Gambling and putting everyone on the LOS just gives up too many big plays.
  8. Is Montgomery County really a good team? I thought they have been horrible the last 5 years or so.
  9. Of all the games in college football, anyone who would pick UoL v WVU just can't get passed their own team. I love UK. I guess I will pick UK v ........ NO. Give me Ohio State v Michigan!
  10. Hey guys. I read the first couple posts. Let me just say this. I am not the most religious man. I have faith, but by no means am I the best example of living the word. That said. --- I always responded better to the person who encouraged me in subtle ways to listen to religion than those who "thumped the Bible" I am almost certainly simplifying the debate going on here but here is my 2 cents: Those wishing to spread the word of God should be a good saleman. People are busy, people have honorable responsibilities. Telling someone they MUST do something just doesn't work. You have to "sale" people on things these days, IMO that is just the way it is, for better or worse.
  11. I honestly think Pikeville is a top 4 team year in and year out under this new alignment. Coach Jackson is a young coach, who IMO will be a GREAT coach (already a good coach) with age. The man has that young man's passion that only gets better with "season." With time, Coach J will get better and so will his teams. Pikeville has as nice a base to draw from as any other team in this class. IMO, there is no excuse for climbing back to the top.
  12. 1) Russell 2) Paducah Tilghman 3) Belfry 4) Louisville Central 5) Breathitt County 6) Sheldon Clark 7) Somerset 8) Mason County 9) Elizabethtown 10) Wayne County/Webster County Gotta be honest with you guys. Maybe it is simply because I don't know much about WEST football, but it looks like a cakewalk out there for Paducah Tilghman I admit, I know little about MOST of these teams. I rank Breathitt Co. high because they have been young in the past couple years and should be a sqaud of good/mature players. I rank Sheldon Clark high for the same reason. Mason Country could easily be underrated and Central could easily be overrated. I will enjoy everyone's insight.
  13. Danville and NCC will be the best year in and year out in this class. BUT it will be interesting because Corbin, and Owensboro Catholic will be right there. I will rank the teams based on what I think their strength will be over time. 1) Danville 2) NCC 3) Owensboro Catholic 4) Corbin difference here... 5) Bardstown 6) Fort Campbell greater difference .... OTHERS - will rarely REALLY compete with the top 5 IMO.
  14. Dad owns a 77 Ranger with original Envinrude 2 strock (150) That baby is old as the hills, but is still a very nice Bass Boat IMO.
  15. Buzzbaits in fall. Nothing like seeing a big bass come up and suck down a buzz.
  16. Interesting Those numbers seem to clearly indicate "black on black" crime, AND bring up the same economic/policy debates that have been discussed for a LONG time. I am not alarmed however by our inclusion on that list. What is the answer? Gun control? Is that where this thread takes us?
  17. That is the quote I am talking about. I was unsure about the cutoff age, being 20 or 30, when the brain takes over. The question doesn't change however. Was Winston Churchill saying: As one ages, one becomes more cynical; As one ages, one cares more about theirself and their family; As one ages one loses faith in the government and their promises of the "heart" As one ages, one becomes more realistic about what can be done with success "from the heart" in a capitalistic society?
  18. Apply the quote across the board. Does a man over 30 become conservative "according to his brain" because it benefits HIS pocketbook, arguably at the expense of the less fortunate? Does this make someone "heartless?" I know I am taking an over-simplified approach to what Churchill said, but was he basically saying "Conservatives care about theirselves and darn the rest" If so - does this mesh with what some of you think is the fundamental difference between the parties? Dems think government should take care of everyone / Rep's think everyone should take care of themselves - regardless of outcome?
  19. Many of you probably know the famous Winston Churchill quote I just wonder, does the over 30 man lose heart when their brain takes over? Is being conservative equivalent to not "having a heart?"
