Bring it back to the East Devils. Let the 20 + Seniors go out on top! Mercer is the "Juggernaut" that every team hopes to beat.. I think Russell is strong enough on the line to make a nice game of it come Dec 1.

Congrats to the Devils Jeep and all Devils fans. Belfry did well. Final 4 and another Regional Title. A good season for Belfry. I don't think many Belfry fans could be upset with the effort his team has put forth this year. Belfry saw Corey Chapman literally do everything he could. It was an inspired year IMO. Not the most talented Belfry team, but a team I think all Belfry fans are proud of. Russell was lead by 20+ Seniors who were state champions. I think Mercer will win next Friday, but IMO the Devils have the best shot to pull it off. Their line is big and strong enough to compete.

Go job Mercer. I honestly think the Senior laden Russell team will give Mercer a nice game. That said, Mercer this win (if not the others) really shows the talent the Titans bring to the table. Enjoy it guys.

Great game... I think Cov Cath will win the poll battle next week. Likely because of the road they have crossed to get to the title game, and somewhat because the Western schools simply don't have as big a fan base on this website. I think this will be a nice title game between two polar opposites.

I started a new thread because I didn't want to turn the Russell victory thread into a discussion about next season. I see another GOOD Belfry team who suffers again from gamebreaking play in the backfield. I think we will see Lee at FB and May and Hickman at TB. A nice backfield, but not a lot of speed there. Oh well.. Just thought I would open this up so we wouldn't flood the other thread.

Belfry was just outmanned. Russell had a solid, mature, and Senior laden quad which was physically just a bit better. Russell shut down the FB, and thats what it takes to beat Belfry. My dad called and we are already talking about next year. I think Belfry will be just as good overall but will suffer from the same deficiency: lack of gamebreaking speed. In the past, if our line was getting beat, we could run the outside veer and break one. This season we didn't have that capability. Just the way it goes IMO. Good job Devils.

Also, It has been wonderful Pirate Seniors. We are proud of you. Pirate Seniors have never NOT won a Regional Title! You guys go out with 2 rings also. Its been great. Congrats guys.

Red Devils were the better team. Pirates played hard and inspired, but just didn't have the studs this year as in the past. Go Devils! Beat Mercer!

Regardless of the final.. Congrats to HC for fighting strong after being down 28 pts early.

Probably #37 Micheal Hackney was the kid who had a hand on the shoulder pads. That kid was ridiculous. The pertinent point of this history lesson is this: A big play at home can make a huge difference in the momentum (and eventual outcome) of a game. I think Belfry v Russell is the best of "real" 2a football this season. That said. I personally don't hate on Mercer Co. I think they have a great team who deserves credit. If things were normal however, I think most BGP posters would agree that Russell @ Belfry is essentially the 2a state championship. Go Pirates! Take State!

This win by Mercer is VERY impressive IMO. Larue was a typical "solid" 2A team. I think Belfry and Russell are playing for a chance to upset a huge favorite on Dec 1st.

That hit by Jones was HUGE! He literally lifted Gross off the ground in a massive hit, but more importantly he stopped a TD. Belfry proceeded to take the ball 98 yards for a TD after that turnover.
