DragonFire
Much closer than some expected (raising my hand), but the Purples still move on to face what looks like it'll be CovCath. As I said in the update thread, that running game only took Central so far. They had the ball inside of Bowling Green's 20 and their 30 on their last two posessions, but bottom line is that when both teams know they're going to be running the ball, it's just too hard to move it down there. I don't know how Central scored their first one, but they scored the second one on an 80 yard run. Bowling Green is lights out in the red zone. Mr. No Name
Great write up on Central in the CJ yesterday. Congrats to them on a wonderful season.
ADopted ADmiral
Much closer than I expected! Bowling green will have there hands full in Louisville! Cov Cath is the real deal! Any team that can beat Highlands two times in just a few weeks time is very scary! Hopefully the Purples learned something from last years game with Lex cath!Good luck Purples! Brewsky
Great game... I think Cov Cath will win the poll battle next week. Likely because of the road they have crossed to get to the title game, and somewhat because the Western schools simply don't have as big a fan base on this website. I think this will be a nice title game between two polar opposites.
Long Time Warrior
Central was a missed field goal attempt and their last drive was stalled at BG 10 or inside the 15 I believe. Way to hang in the BG. I kept telling everone that BG would have a tough time winning this one.
Red Beaulieu
Congratulation Bowling Green Purples for making it back to the State Championships. A lot of hard work goes into getting there back to back years. Central played hard all 4 quarters, and never gave up. They do have some very good team speed, especially Huguley. I read to be prepared for a hostile environment, but that really wasn't the case. Lots of fans, both purple and yellow getting along; some really great food, ribs and polish sausage with onions, and a really exciting game with two teams that refused to quit. Looking forward to next Friday, but for now I'm going to enjoy their win. Go Purples!
Oxnard
Hopefully, those who were demeaning the Yellow Jackets and predicting the 51-14 and upwards Bowling Green victory will finally agree that Central was a worthy opponent who would battle until the end. Congratulations Purples...Now let's finish the deal and get that 3A title! :thumb:
Blockbuster
Great game! Tim Huguely is a player! Everything about Louisville Central was first class from their players, coaches, and fans to everyone working the game. Great environment for a state semi-final game. PurpleHaze
All I can say is.....YIIPPPEEEE!!! I heard about the win when I was talking to RebelK from the hospital, then I went in and told PH!!! Great news!!!
time2punt
Great effort by the Jackets. They represented the district well. Just wish they would have played all year with the respect they showed to BG last night. It certainly wasn't the same as they showed at SW last week or in earlier district matchups this year. Hugheley was clearly the best player on the field last night.
Xgrad-JAGdad
I read in the paper where BG's O-lineman Hines pulled a Dane Spoelker on defense at the end of the game to seal the deal! Gotta love it when the o-line dudes get some press for playing defense! Go BG, take state!
rocktopper
Congrats to Central for a great season! Build on this experience and come out strong next year! Good luck BG, hope you win State...
