  1. Nothing surprises me anymore mojo. If that is true, my guess would be upset with not being moved to tailback?
  2. From CNN.COM.... Reading his concurring opinion from the bench, the 70-year-old justice (KENNEDY) said, "This nation has a moral and ethical obligation to fulfill its historic commitment to creating an integrated society that ensures equal opportunity for all its children. "A compelling interest exists in avoiding racial isolation, an interest that a school district, in its discretion and expertise, may choose to pursue." But he added, "Crude measures of this sort [as illustrated in this case] threaten to reduce children to racial chits valued and traded according to one school's supply and another's demand." Clearly, a majority of the Court still believes race CAN be a factor. The media should be ashamed for some of the headlines reporting this.
  3. The notion that Supreme Court Justices are unbiased is unfortunately off base. From Warren's Court of lefties to Scalia and Thomas, Supreme Court Justices usually have their mind made up before hearing argument. (IMO)
  4. One thing is clear. Whether or not you agree with the reasoning of this decision the effect will be profound. The schools will become more segregated based on race, and the "green" will follow the White.
  5. One very important point that may have been mentioned above. (I did not read the entire thread) I have also not read the entire opinion, but I think the following is correct: Only FOUR Justices said "race cannot be used as a factor" (Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Scalia) Justice Kennedy concurred in the judgment (because the plan was not narrowly tailored), but was not willing to go so far as to say race cannot be a factor. Thus, the Bakke case and other cases holding race CAN be used as a factor, is seemingly still GOOD LAW. The signal, as I understand now (without reading every word of the opinion), is clear. Justice Kennedy told Jefferson County to do a better job "tailoring" their plan. Kennedy basically said, re-work it and send it back to me and if its a "better" plan, I will switch sides. Does anyone agree?
  6. I think Edwards can win the nomination if he wins in Iowa. The media is so focused on Hilary, but the American people aren't so narrow minded. If Edwards wins the nomination (and I agree it is a longshot) he would win the general election.
  7. The chatter sure has died down around this team. Anything would be appreciated.
  8. Whats the word from Pond Creek?
  9. OK... 4 or 5 bowl eligible teams. No big name out of conference opponents. Unlike UK actually (see, Louisville)
  10. 970 am - The "Big Easy" is playing it up. I listened to him rant for over an hour about the story. What a joke. "The Dream Game"
  11. Add: At least one UK fan thinks UoL's schedule is weak, and therefore even if UoL was to go undefeated they would not play in a title game, because an SEC school or Big Ten School, or USC with 1 loss get the nod.
  12. Even with a schedule will produce 3, maybe 4 bowl eligible teams?
  13. I'll will have some if your offering. Seriously though, I REALLY don't think UoL would play for the title if say: Michigan was undefeated; Louisville was undefeated; AND USC, FLORIDA, etc has one loss
  14. I was really hoping UoL would lose 4 games or so this season so some of these big heads would get popped on here. Then I looked at the Cards schedule. EXTREMELY weak. I think if they run the table, an SEC school with 1 loss would play in the title game over them.
  15. This is how I see it: If UK loses, then they benefit from having the game not televised (especially if they lose big) and UoL loses from not getting national exposure. If UK wins, not having the game televised won't be that big a deal because ESPN'S highlight shows will give it plently of play. I like it.
  16. Didn't Jackson apply for the Newport job also? If so, I think that shows he wants out of Pikeville, not just that he couldn't resist the "great job" that is Henderson Co.
  17. It amazes me just how often non-UK fans get involved in threads like this, JUST to say something negative and in this case deeply offensive to some. I wonder if IU fans would have appreciated if I went into an similar thread regarding their base and said. "Bigots would be a good one...." Weak.
  18. The kid made a choice and it didn't work out. I for one am not going to hold a grudge and would welcome him into the fold in Lexington. He would probably play 15 -20 minutes a game this upcoming season, and step right into the starting PG spot after Ramel leaves. Sure, we MIGHT get a better point gaurd next recruiting season, but couldn't we still use some scholorships for the front line?
  19. Where does Northup go from here? To the unemployement office? My guess is she runs for the next office that comes open.
  20. I hope Carter improves because we couldn't really use some solid play out of him this season. After that it probably becomes a moot point because we should recruit superior talent.
  21. UoL fans are scared to death. I listened to Dave Regone go off for 30 minutes the other day about how UK is on the decline because they didn't get Sanchez and Hamga. Then Patterson signs and UK has the 7th best class in the nation. Really in decline...
