  1. What Soph's to be will see considerable playing time next season? The Lovern kid is the only one I have heard any hype about. I assume he is likely to step in at one of the vacant DB spots? The Coleman kid is likely to fill in another DB spot, along with Preston and Elkins? I look for big things out of Sutherland on the defensive line. With him, Totten, Bowens, and Lee all returning to the front 5, Belfry should be decent up front. May and Dotson return at LB's and that should further improve the front 7. The defense has a lot of returning experience and should be good IMO. It all hinges on whether or not Belfry has enough speed in the secondary. I hope Hickman is given the oppurtunity to play RB this upcoming season. I know he had problems with fumbles, but I thought we exploded through the hole well the few times I saw him carry. I think this team has a bunch of SOLID players, but lacks standout talent. IMO, they are a couple stud O-lineman and 1 or 2 speed burners away from a 3a title this upcoming season. Not saying they can't make a run, but it will be difficult without breakaway speed.
  2. Ridiculously good.
  3. Oops. Well either of those teams would be a dissapointment compared to West Jessamine IMO. I would prefer to see Coach play outside of 3a if possible. Aren't the Carter schools in 3a next season?
  4. Cut out the penalties and mental breakdowns and your boys should go far coach!
  5. Was there a spring scrimmage? Can't get over the lack of chatter coming from the Pirate fans.
  6. I agree with the great games comment. Belfry will now get to play 6 non-district games each year (compared to 4 last year) This year the have: Corbin Pikeville Shelby Valley Lawrence County West Jessamine Johnson Central Should be real nice from a fans perspective.
  7. Belfry is up there IMO. Support from administration = ridiculous Fan support = VERY GOOD Talent level/feeder system = Decent for a similarly sized school Proximity to WV = does bring in the occasional transfer (not recruited) Budget = one of the tops in the state if I recall Salary = not sure, bet its good Statewide Prestige - Above average in media/good among those who know
  8. Can anyone offer any word on how spring practice looked?
  9. Wouldn't shock me if the locker room was trashed considering they just play their way into their first state title appearance since 1986. The other things seem to off with the possible exception of the tobacco being spit on the bleachers (not another person) by someone, but most country boys prefer a cup with napkins in it.
  10. I agree with IPapi. Belfry will need to run basically the same offense, but be a little more aggressive with play action passes, especially one 1st down. The lack of home run speed in the running game will require Belfry to make more big plays out of the passing game.
  11. Congrats to the Belfry players honored!
  12. Awesome schedule.
  13. Belfry needed a 4th and 1 in OT in 03' to beat E-Town. Talk about suspence. D. Jones walked in. It was awesome Belfry had 1 D-1 player on that team. E-Town had 4.
  14. I understand. The answer is Mercer. They need to be dominant!
  15. I think OneIJoe wants to become a part of the Pirate family. Come on over 1EYE
  16. Leaving out three schools makes your numbers lack credibility OneI.
  17. Cole will need to gain 20 lbs over the summer IMO. 165 simply doesn't get a kid a D1 scholly.
  18. Am I wrong in assuming some states do not require High School football coaches to be teachers?
  19. I am very excited about next years Pike Co Bowl with Belfry and Corbin. I think Cashen might be a little too much for Belfry's secondary considering they replace 3 starters. Belfry needs desperately for someone to step up and grow into the speed demon that that wishbone offense needs. I think most would agree that, although a longshot, the Lovern kid might be the spark so desparately needed next year. Quite a bit to ask of a Sophmore but we shall see. Elkins could take a little pressure off the backfield too if he works hard and becomes a SIGNIFICANTLY better player. Assuming Belfry has only good but not great backfield play, he could be the difference if he is able to actually damage teams on the ground. A moderate improvement in his passing ability along with a moderate improvement in his composure is necessary IMO. I love the Redhounds v Pirates in week one!
  20. Being a "tad" short, can he play DB at the D1 level?
  21. Bowens returns with TE experience. Preston could potentially play TE also. He would be undersized, but offer good athleticism at that postion. From the looks of things, Belfry will need to go airborne a bit more next year, so a recieving TE might be a must.
  22. Trinity Cov Cath Bowling Green Mercer Co Ryle Russell Danville NCC
  23. Belfry could use more seating, but ONLY when Russell, and big time programs come in. Usually, the visitors don't come in force. Russell made all of the big plays. They played good fundamental football. But according to the webcast I tuned into, Clark only had 13 yds on 7 carries. I think the Belfry D played well. The Belfry offense just couldn't move the large and solid Russell front.
