Congrats to Daniel on a great accomplishment!! Daniel is one of the greatest kids I have ever met. Northern Kentucky is getting themselves a great athlete, and an A+ kid. I don't know the family well, but I have heard he gets his athletic abilities from his mother. I couldn't be happier for this fantastic young man!!!

IMO, I thought the umpiring was bad in every game I watched. Personally, I thought the ball/strike zone seemed really small. I don't know if I am the only person who thought that, but pitchers were getting squeezed.

I understand wanting to save good pitching for the later rounds of the Regional, but IMO Highlands made a bad move by not pitching their stud. Beechwood made that mistake last year against Boone. If Beechwood doesn't pitch Smith tonight, they could be in the same situation.

No. Last three games have been postponed. One tomorrow, two on Wednesday, semi's on Thursday, and the finals on Friday.

Congrats to Jeff Barth. Did he coach football when he was in the Oldham County School District? I think he was at South Oldham, but I don't know if he coached football there.

I agree that Brian Doyle is a good baseball player, and will be a huge part of the next two seasons. But there is no way he plays on the Varsity team. His time will come, but not on this team.

Newcath was no-hit through 5 innings, but Nathan Rawe scored on a Jeramie Connor single to tie the game in the 6th. Connor advanced to third on an errant pickoff throw to first base, and later scored the go-ahead run. Newport played a whale of a game!! It's a shame someone had to lose. Newcath will advance to face Highlands tomorrow at Morscher Field in Silver Grove. Both will advance to next week's Regional Tournament. Best of luck to both teams, and once again, a fine performance this afternoon from the Wildcats. Keep your head's up!

Who pitched for Scott?

From where I was standing, which was right behind the plate, the pitch was on the outside corner. I remember being amazed that a 16 year old young man could have the strength and bat speed to hit a fastball on the outside black, out of the park in left field. In fact, it was more toward left-center than anything. What a true talent! I really enjoyed watching him play. The play he made at SS was ignorant! It's a shame Bellevue and Newcath had to play in the first round. I would like to have seen Bellevue in the Regional Tournament. Congrats to Bellevue on a great season, and continued success to Newcath.

Why has he been under the critical eye? Because they've not won their district or region? I'm sorry, but Cory Highfield is a good man, a good educator and a good basketball coach. I don't understand why certain people in Ludlow are trying to run him out? Coach Beard had a great run of talent, and when that talent graduated, he stepped back. Coach Highfield has had one "good" 9th region player since he has taken over, and they went to the Regionals. No truth at all to him leaving.

My guy feeling is Rick Schumate will be their new coach, but then again, it could be any one of their finalists.

Sorry guys, but I just don't think Dave or Eddie are ready for the Varsity job. To be honest, I don't know if they will ever be ready for a Varsity job. Dave would be a great assistant coach in the program, or even a good freshman coach, but Varsity Head Coach is a different kind of beast. Not trying to ruffle feathers here.

I see that Brandon Grammer from Ryle has applied, did he leave Ryle?
