  1. Looked like Ken Ellis and Bob Cole. How do they get that game? No wonder there was no control of the game. They're just after votes (b/c they don't get any) and Scott doesn't vote. Congrats to the Birds and Coach Schlarman
  2. IMO Campbell doesn't match up with quick/athletic teams. At any time, Campbell has three really athletic kids on the floor, but usually two slower/bigger kids. This score doesn't surprise me mostly bc Newport was probably able to get the ball out and run a little bit, which probably hurt CCHS. I could be wrong though.
  3. Not that I have a dog in this fight, but everyone on a sideline is emotional in any sport. Sure, you should always act like you have been there before, or expected to win, but the fact is that guys like Jimmy Pangallo spend a lot of time working with those kids during the year. He has pride in his alma mater, pride in his son, and pride in their program. You have to love excitement and how hard people work. If the head coaches were doing this, then you would see them slammed on message boards, or in the local watering hole. However, Mike Code is a class act and would never run on the floor, but would it hurt BBHS to show that excitement on a last second shot? No way!
  4. Sorry about that. I get the districts confused all the time.
  5. 38th. 37th hosted last year. 38th - Pendleton, Augusta, Bracken, and Deming I believe.
  6. Thoughts and Prayers. The best of luck to the people searching, and to the families of the boys.
  7. Great photos. Also, an amazing benefit. Classy act by Coach Fookes and Coach Darpel.
  8. Any idea on when CCH will stop taking applications for this position? Should give us an idea on when they will start their interviews. Curious to see about Mike Wolfe. My bet is that he stays at Ryle. Huge pay cut to go to Covington Catholic, even if it is where he and his brothers went and played. Does anyone know for sure if he will even apply?
  9. Do you think it will be that easy? Sounds to me like Scott is playing good basketball. Good win for South Laurel.
  10. Who won the Freshman Regional last year? I agree with those who say Clarkson from Ryle is very good.
  11. http://nky.cincinnati.com/article/C2/20081219/SPT02/812190354/-1/recorder Coach Hyder has stepped down.
  12. Good win for BW. Congrats to Coach Shumate and the Tiggers.
  13. Could be a long afternoon for the Mustangs freshman against Campbell. Campbell's speed and intensity will be tough for the BBHS guards and bigs. Congrats NCC.
  14. I would agree with that. However, Chris Grosser also covers loads of ground in CF. Watching him at Champion Window Field vs Cov. Cath made me a believer. Should be an interesting year in Region 9 for baseball. Year in and year out, it seems like Cov Cath, Beechwood, Boone/Ryle/Conner or NewCath could take the cake. Baseball makes me think of warm weather...mmmmm.
  15. What about the Block/Charge rule? I would like to see a rules book that describes that, or maybe even a case book. That's the one call I see coaches get steamed about.
  16. Congrats to Deuce Finch! What a great honor.
  17. I once saw someone climb through a busted part of that fence and he then ran up into the stands. I guess he didn't have the money to get in.
  18. I like Scott here as well. In fact, I believe it could be a long night for the Panthers. Best of luck to both teams. Scott 42 Ludlow 7
  19. I would rather watch football at Dayton's home field than at many of the other NKY fields. I wish they still had the white wall. Now, no one can throw animals over the fence and get away with it.
  20. I truly understand that Brossart hasn't had much success on the Varsity level, and when they are playing well, why stop what is working. Let them grab the momentum and hopefully develop some confidence in the process. However, I think coaches (winning or losing) take it personal when they have pulled their starters and are allowing their younger kids to grab some clock, and announce to everyone that you are done with putting points on the board, but the opposing coach does not reciprocate. I wouldn't have expected Brossart to pull their starters at the beginning of the quarter, but with 3:00 minutes to go in the game, to have them still in? Coach Deaton probably didn't think to much of that, and sent the starters back out to tell Coach Reinhart (sp?) that if you can do it, so can I. That doesn't mean it was right, and I know they schedule JV games for the younger kids to play, but there comes a point when you have let the JV kids go in and mop up the remainder of the minutes.
  21. So Dayton pulls their starters and BBHS scores two TD's with their starters? Or was it the second string BBHS kids that scored the last two TD's? If they left them in, then Coach Deaton should have put his 1's back in to send a message. As for the score, about what I thought. Good luck to both on the remainder of their seasons.
