footballhd Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 According to the KHSAA website, Walton-Verona is now looking for a Head Football Coach. Thats 2 thats opened today!
barrel Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 What happened there? That is a very young program and a good set up. Might be tough to fill right now but could be a good snag. Getting a teaching spot might be hard.
footballhd Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Wonder where he is going? Pretty late in the game to make a move, I would assume.
born2reign Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Can you shed some light on this, Sarge...this is a SHOCKER to me!
Dark Horse78 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Fantastic facility up there, top notch and seems like they have everything in place. How much of a 2nd fiddle do they play to basektball? That might have something to do with it? :idunno:
The sarge Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Sad day for Walton Verona Football. Coach is a good, classy man who gave everything to the program. He has a illness in the family and needs to be there for them. This I know was a hard decision for him but as he always said, " family comes first". Coach, I appreciate all you have done for the program and you will be truly missed.
Truebluefan Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 This is disappointing to hear! Coach McMillian put a lot of energy into building the program. There is a lot of enthusiasm with the players and at the school. I am sure it was a tough decision. I respect him for sticking with his principals. They have a number of committed assistant coaches that will keep things moving until they find a replacement. Coach Brad Strong has been running the lifting program, very motivational coach! Woody will keep after all the guys in the hallway. Confident that the AD will make a good hire!
buttels Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 WOW!!! I am so sorry to hear about this, but I to am a firm believer in "Family First". Coach, you will be missed. What an excellect program in the making at the new complex in Verona. 1st class facilities and great feeder programs. Gonna be a great job for someone. Coach, you were always good to us. We appreciate all of your hard work!! We wish you nothing but the best. What a Class Act!!!:thumb:

Coach we will be praying for you and your family.
doubledeuce Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Any ideas on who might be the leading candidates? Or a wish list?
BredFan Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 The best of luck to Coach Woody and his family. A very good man indeed.
True blue (and gold) Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 This will be a really great job for someone. For a small school, WV has great, new facilities, a very good school system and a push for athletic success.
Weakside Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Prayers go out to Woody and his family. We ask that God place his hand on your family at this time.
Bird Bath Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 It looks like Woody is going to be missed! In Fort Thomas Jr Football I preach family, school and football and it looks like Coach Woody truly understands and believes in the philosophy. Our prayers go out to him and his family. WV has built correctly starting in the younger ranks, similar to what they have done is basketball. I believe they are on the quick road to success and I am certain they will hire the right replacement. Continue to build and perhaps Woody can return to the sideline one day. I remember playing freshman ball for Bill Boyle (WV Super) many years ago. I had a family tragedy that I lost a few years of football in high school; but I certainly understand the importance of family and I am much stronger because of it. I have taught those same values to my boys. I am certain it was hard to walk away for the Coach; but it truly shows you had the right person for the program. It truly shows the measure of a man when he puts family first. It should be family, school and football.:thumb:
