Fern Creek got the deluxe package, with 2 external cameras. It costs $1,500 for the season ( has not been confirmed but rumored that cost goes down after first year due to equipment included). You get a lot of equipment: 1 large ubiquiti router for press box, 1 smaller ubiquiti router and matching bridge for endzone tower, an hdmi splitter, 2 - teradek hdmi streaming kits, a battery for endzone router and bridge, and all necessary cables, hdmi adapter ends, etc . The retail on the teradek streaming kits are $499 each, the 3 routers are $75-$85 each, battery pack is $185, and all the cables etc at least $50. Even with buying in bulk selling thousands of those kits Hudl is still spending a lot on equipment, not to mention programming the routers and teradek so they are plug and play, and developing the app. It worked really well, set up was easy for me and JoJo but we are tech guys, I still think Hudl provides enough info that it should not be hard for a coach to get together. After the game using sideline actually makes uploading video easier, it is already encoded for Hudl and also is intercut if doing 2 angles and has ODK already done. You select you want to review and upload, it transfers the clips from the sideline app to the reg Hudl app, then you select the game and who to share it with. All from your iPad.

Yes, I tested ours for the first time in a "game situation" for 7 on 7 yesterday. I don't film with iPads, we have the 2- camera streaming kit or deluxe package. In my set up we film with our endzone camera and press box camera, both stream HD video to the recording iPad, and 1 person starts and stops recording each play and tags O D K. Then the display iPads (up to 8) can watch video, each play goes up just seconds after it is recorded and whole game is available. It operates on a local network and doesn't need Internet access, video quality was great, everything worked as advertised.

It is legal for first year in college now. Wondering how many of them will use which systems

We are just getting it this year, have most of the equipment for Hudl Sideline, still testing it. I still have to order a few cables and waiting on Hudl to ship the battery pack for endzone camera router & bridge. So far all the tests look good and it works as advertised.

Is Alan Campos a candidate? His son is the QB, and he played for U of L, Dallas Cowboys, bounced around the NFL a few years and played a little arena ball.

Fern Creek will have to replace Kinslow, the only true threat at WR last several years and the leading tackler as well. Also 2 good RB in Jamison White 1700 yds and 15 TD, Delquan Wimberly 649 y 10 TD. Both starting OT, one of who was also the kicker / punter. And 3 starters on DL, another good LB Fred Harris, and one of the CB. Possibly bigger than replacing the players, FC is seeing it's two oldest coaches retire. Def Coordinator Don Hillerich has retired after 7 years at FC and before that 10 years at Manual and 1 at Atherton, Don was also the founder, owner, & head coach of the semi pro Louisville Bulls for their entire 28 yr existence. He will be missed not only as the guy coming up with the def game plan and calling the D, but as the guy that cut grass, painted the game and practice fields, repaired things, and anything else that needed done. The Tiger eye (like LSU) was his baby and he painted it before every game the last 3 years. Also besides Don FC also loses Offensive Line coach Ed Jackson, Coach Jackson was along time assistant at Providence High in S Indiana, then came down to FC to help when Nichols came to FC. Almost 70, he still related well to HS kids and will be missed. FC still has a great staff but those two guys will be missed, the average age of the staff will drop dramatically. I may be the oldest staffer (44), although I am not actually a coach.

This will actually be Abell's 3rd season, he started in 2014 going 7-4 losing in 2nd round of the playoffs. His record is 19-6.

the rawlings balls are not very durable and we are paying a premium for them. I think we pay about $70 per ball in Louisville thru Shively Sports. my semipro league used to buy Wilson nfl balls stamped with our league logo for $42, these were first rate balls, they would occasionally offer us blems at a reduced price if they had any bad balls from our league run (or sometimes NFL blems). the Wilson balls were much better quality and much cheaper. why not get a better quality product at a better price. with a small league of just 10-12 teams most years we bought balls once per year direct from Wilson, with the buying power of the entire state we should be able to get a good deal.

Can you do this if you have phone service too? My home phone runs from same modem. I turned off the wifi on it back when they installed it and use my own Asus A-C wifi router.

Facemasks aren't painted, they have a vinyl coating. If the coating is torn up, scraped up from use, then they are usually thrown away. They can be reconditioned by stripping down to bare metal and recoated. At Fern Creek we switched from white masks to black last year and all of the used helmets had the masks reconditioned and recoated, it is an expensive process and for standard masks a new one is only about $2-$3 more. We had Xeniths the first year they were available to high school market when I was still at Manual. We didn't have issues with the face masks, but it was a different style helmet and many players didn't like it at first and some head shape issues where it pressed against the temples on certain guys. Xenith altered it a little and our players seem to find it more comfortable now. With the Xenith bonnet system it does a have a little break in period where it seems to mold itself to the players head and fit even better after a week or so.

Don't use any on my MacBook. I do buy AppleCare, and it was worth it, after 2.5 years had the logic board replaced, the barrel hinge replaced, USB ports were fixed twice. I think my problem was actually my fault, on Friday night games I haul around my MacBook and a laser printer, had a cheap carryon and I think my MacBook got banged around a lot. Now have a better rolling case that holds everything well.

With Hudl I don't know if those services are needed. The player can update their own highlights weekly after each game played. all positions are different but just for example if your child is a running back, don't just include big runs, catches, but also key blocks he made, picking up blitzes etc. and then after each season or even mid season make the premeir highlight and use the spot shadow or arrows to single him out. And you no longer mail any video, no copies to make etc. you can send links to the highlight via email, and coaches can send whole game films via email as well. Any parent with free time and a search engine can find the emails for any colleges and send their kids video out for free. Camps are another story, some are legit, some are a money maker for who runs them without much benefit for players.

I think this is off base, besides finally getting over the double headed green hump and winning a title, Wolfe has other things going in Louisville. Male is one of the most desired teaching spots much less coaching. Manual is the top academic school but Male isn't far behind them, and with the traditional program and admittance policies you have much fewer discipline problems than other public schools. In addition Wolfe owns a franchise of a successful pizza restaurant. I don't see another spot in the area more desirable than where he is, and with his business doubt he would want to relocate very far away.

Everyone mentions Brohm and Bush, but there was a third #19 in Louisville that year that was also a D-1 stud that translated into a short NFL career ended early by injury- Keenan Burton.

Yeah, we have about 15 Xenith X2's. Very nice, a 5 star helmet for just under $200 and no extra parts needed. The chinstrap and even ear pads are all part of the bonnet and replaced if needed when reconditioned. you don't even have to inflate just tighten the chinstrap. Most kids like them we have a few that didn't, some head shapes felt tight around the temples.

What is crazy is that many NFL players still wear outdated helmets, helmets that aren't sold to the public anymore and that JCPS retired last year even if they weren't 10 years old. Tom Brady wears a Riddell VSR-4 helmet, that model came out in 1994 and Riddell stopped selling to the public in 2010. Yet one of the top players in the NFL still wears it, presumably by his choice. Last season JCPS had all the schools turn in an inventory of certain models of helmets that were rated 1 or 2 stars. We had to stop using and basically throw away helmets that weren't yet 10 years old, luckily Norton Healthcare provided a grant that bought replacement helmets for most of those. At Fern Creek we lost 36 helmets some only had 1 year left, many had 5 years left. Thru the grant we were able to purchase 20 - 5 star helmets to replace them. that still left us short and we had to end up ordering more get all the kids in helmets.

A company Guardian makes these padded helmet covers. They set up at all the coaches clinics but all the helmet manufacturers say not to use them and the "experts" laugh it off as the equivalent of putting an airbag outside your car.

One article said they are $1,500 each. That limits their market to NFL and power conference teams. And they haven't mentioned warranty, expected life, and cost of reconditioning. Right now current 5 star top rated helmets cost $200-$300 (that Is our bid price for JCPS from Shively Sporting goods covering over a dozen models from 4 different manufacturers, Schutt, Riddell, Xenith, and Rawlings) and annual reconditioning is another $32 per helmet. Warranties from all is 5 year shell warranty and 10 year life. One note is Rawlings shut down their helmet division.

I thought Sr RB Jamison White from Fern Creek deserved to be in the list. 196 carries, 1786 yards, 15 touchdowns. Over 9 yards per carry average. I realize there are a lot of good running backs, but can't believe Jamison doesn't get at least honorable mention.
