varsity played first , second and fourth quarters, JV 3rd quarter, and at halftime the freshmen did 10 plays each. Varsity was tied 7-7 at half. Then in fourth PRP scored first but missed extra point. With under a minute left Fern Creek stripped the QB and returned the fumble, made the extra point to win varsity part 14-13. JV part Fern Creek scored twice 14-0. Freshmen Fern Creek scored and got 2pt conversion 8-0

Jason Frakes will have 10 minute sessions with 33 different area schools every football playing school in Louisville is set to attend as well as most of the surrounding area. Fern Creek used to go different places, KWC was last place we went. But with the rule changes on practice last several years it stopped making sense and also colleges are reporting earlier and wanted us to come before we could be in full gear. With the practice rules in place now it limits two a days, if a two a day can't go full gear full contact either session. years ago two a days were a grind, now still hard and hot but a mix of less than full contact practices, film sesssions, weights, chalk talks, walk thrus, play installations, lot more finesse and instruction than smash mouth all day like decades ago

Coach Hillerich was going to retire after 2015 but ended up coming back as LB coach, this year he is Defensive Coordinator again. Coach Abell is indeed an offensive guy (was Keenan Burton's center at Manual ) but this year he was promoted Coach Brown to Offensive Coordinator, Abell had called offense himself with input from Coaches Brown and Stoner. Coach Talley joins us from Moore as OL coach, and Ryan Montgomery is the new WR coach. Montgomery played at Canton McKinley HS and Kentucky State, and has coached in Cincy, Columbus, and Canton areas. On defense we added Coach Horton at DB coach from Manual (also our track coach)

Sorry it took so long to answer. Offense is where the questions lie for this 2017 Fern Creek team. 5 starters return but must replace Kyree Hawkins and Devon Blincoe at RB, both were fast bruising runners who could bust thru the hole then outrace you to the endzone. In addition the Creek must replace 3 yr starting QB Shamar Bryant. We have 2 junior QB's and a Sophomore. JR Rayshawn Nelson 5-9 148 has probably played the best of the three in 7 on 7 competition is smaller but fearless and makes good decisions has good arm strength. JR Isaiah Hester 6-1 211 is a big strong kid with a strong arm, and a great tough runner with the ball as well. 7 on 7 doesn't show Hester's full game because he is a big strong kid, tough to take down and a good runner and can break arm tackles and create time in the pocket. SO Jum Randella 5-11 205 joined the freshmen team last year a few weeks into the season and is a good young QB, has a good arm. I have no idea how the QB battle will shake out, several possible options include starting Nelson at QB as and playing Hester at RB, could start Hester opting for the more physical QB and play Nelson as a slot WR. Or in a twist Randella stepping up to win the battle and playing Hester at RB and Nelson at WR. A Wildcat formation with 2-3 of those guys on the field at the same time would be an interesting wrinkle for the offense. In addition to Hester possibly at RB, SO Anthony Teague 5-8 160, and SO VeSean Green 5-10 160 are two hard running guys with the quickness to evade tackles. JR Dylan Dunbar 6-1, 211 is a big bruising runner with surprising quickness. He was behind Hawkins and a Blincoe last year but had some big time plays including some long TD's in the playoffs. 3 starting offensive linemen return and the line is starting to come together well. We have had a smaller O line for years but this year are starting to get bigger and have some promising Juniors and Sophomores with good size that are stepping up and earning starting positions. At WR Quartus Hearn 6-4 174 Was the leading WR last year in yards and TDs (5). He plays well as the big stretch the field receiver, and complimenting him are a good mix of guys. Melvin Blakey 5-11 145, William Neal 5-11 165, Blake Weihe 5-11 145. In addition Damon Durrah 5-10 170 ( offered by Morehead State and KWC ) will play more this year at WR after limited offensive reps last year. Durrah is an explosive athlete mainly as a CB that can set the edge and be physical stopping the run or drop back and break up passes and intercept the ball. He can be the quick footed slot guy or stretch the field and returned 1 kickoff and 2 punts for TD's last year and a fumble return for TD. Fern Creek's scrimmage vs PRP will be a good test letting us now early how the offense is progressing as well as having a talented PRP offense to test our defense. We haven't played PRP since moving down to 5A 2 years ago. Fern Creek's 5 non league games has some good games that should answer any questions about the team. Fern Creek should be a heavy favorite vs Seneca, but then faces Manual followed by Central. Next comes Butler, followed by what should be a good game vs a DeSales. The record coming out of the non- district game could be as bad as 0-5 or perhaps as good as 5-0 and by then most questions will be answered.

A little baffled that Fern Creek not in anyone's top 5 for 5A, lost in semifinals to Bowling Green last 2 years, you'd think two straight final fours would get you top 5. Fern Creek does have to replace the entire offensive backfield but have 28 seniors, and 10 returning starters on defense (5 on offense)

These are hard to install but still not the hardest. A little harder than Ram Horns, but I was at Atherton for 2 years and the first year Coach Satori was there we had the Michigan Wing in metallic gold over a marroon helmet. Those were the old die cut decals think and not very pliable, you couldn't take them up and reapply or stretch around on the helmet very well, by far the hardest decal I had to do, had to remove the face mask of course too. With Manuals we had to remove the face mask and the 4 lower snaps too but the actual decal wasn't bad to apply. It will be fun applying all the varsity ones before the first game, I'm sure a few coaches will help. Was talking with a coach tonight and one challenge will be that we have 4 different brands of helmets in 9 different styles, and 3 sizes on varsity ( we do have 1 freshman that wears a small).

Just got the stripes in today, my first attempt. These may be harder than the Ram horns we had the 9 years I was at Manual. The sheet doesn't tell which stripe goes where so have to look at a picture to do it. I should be pretty good after I do about 75 sets.

Coach Abell looked into using Mizzouri's oversized Tiger head logo, and after seeing the licensing fees we are going with the stripes instead. I think it will look better with the new uniforms anyway.

The sports situation differs than a non sports related injury , mainly because in most cases and ideally in addition to the sports doctors there are athletic trainers who see the kids each day, can do treatment and assess the players on a daily basis.

I have a thermoworks thermopop instant read thermometer I got for $19.99 from Amazon, works great even bent it in my pocket by mistake and was able to straighten it out mostly ‍♂️. I got my igrill2 with the two meat probes for $49, that's how it usually comes, idevices used to have special packs with 4 but they sold it to Weber. I got the grill temp probe direct from idevices. Most places have the igrill2 now with 2 meat probes for $99, and can get a grill temp probe for $14.99 from Home Depot. It works great for me but I have heard and read complaints on Bluetooth range, doesn't affect me

It's an igrill2 originally by idevices but now owned by Weber. You can see it on the shelf in the first picture. Can handle up to 4 probes, I have an ambient temp or grill temp probe with a grate clip and 2 meat probes. Yes you leave it in while cooking but only for lower temp, it fizzles out at about 500 degrees and could burn up the probes. It connects via Bluetooth to the free app on a smartphone or tablet and can be monitored anywhere in Bluetooth range and it also has a Apple Watch app. I usually set up the grill temp probe with a temp range that warns you if the temp gets too high or low, and then set the meat probes for the target temp, it warns you when you are within 10 degrees and again when done. Some people have had issues with the igrill2 because of Bluetooth connectivity and range, but I have an iPhone 7 plus and my grill is in my side yard and I can go anywhere in my smallish house and get a decent signal. Right now the most popular one in reviews is the Thermoworks Smoke, it has just 2 probes but has a base unit and receiving unit, uses radio frequency so larger range and don't need a smart phone. It is very similar to the Maverick units that BBQ people love but Maverick probes are problematic and easy to damage, thermoworks seems to have much better probes.

Made some pulled pork on my Akorn on rainy Oaks Day. Got a 2-pack of pork shoulders from Sam's Club combined 17.5 lbs. used old Pork Barrel rub from Sam's. Cooked hot and fast at around 290-325 degrees, temp varied due to wind and rain. Total cook time was 6.5 hours for smaller, 7 hours for larger shoulder. Fern Creek will be changing decals this year, our new uniforms have a darker orange and the FC is a lighter metallic orange with chrome shadow. We will be going with some form of a tiger head logo, likely one of the versions of Missouri's decals. Coach Abell still has about 4-5 different versions he is considering

I found the jersey rule and it only excludes the color white on home jerseys, I think any way you interpret this rule we are fine. If we had the matching away jerseys is where it can possibly be interpreted as illegal by using non white colors, I think even then we are ok (we haven't ordered away jerseys yet).
