In week zero Doss routed an outmanned Jeffersontown team 42-0, while South Oldham stumbled out of the gate losing to 2A defending Champ Christian Academy of Louisville 28-14. Doss will get their first test after routing North Bullitt in a scrimmage and J-town in week zero. South Oldham had trouble with 2A CAL, how will they rebound vs Doss and all their college prospects? The Purples have a state leading 28 game winning streak, while the Panthers dropped in the 2nd round last year to Male 27-24. Can PRP's mobile QB BJ Robinson and company give them a shot vs Bowling Green? Who Wins??

Southwestern is again a top 5 5A team, while Dunbar finished 3-8 and were knocked out of the playoffs in Rd 1 by Conner. The opening kickoff was short going to the 24 where Linebacker Matthew Quiggens muffed it then scooped it up and went 76 yards for the TD. Brayden Oberhausen's kick made it 7-0 Fern Creek just 11 seconds into the new season. Seneca managed a first down on their first drive but then were forced to punt. Fern Creek took over on their own 23 (their worst starting field possession of the night) and drove 77 yards mostly on runs by Dylan Dunbar. Dunbar scored on an 11 yard run, Oberhausen kick. Seneca fumbled in the kickoff return and Vesean Green recovered for FC. A false start and 3rd down sack by Seneca forced the Tigers to punt for the only time Friday night. Bigger question is why this was scheduled in the first place. I don't see what either team would get out of it. it's a long trip for whomever is the visitor and Beechwood is defending 1A champions while Shawnee was tied for last in 2A and struggled to field a team.

I would never guarantee a win, Coach Abell would kill me. However I can guarantee we will look good. Will be wearing one of the new sets of jerseys and have the new look helmets. I went in for a little over 5 hours and striped up 43 helmets. About 30 ish to go.

The Campbell County Camels went 4-8 and lost in the 2nd round of the 6A playoffs to Simon Kenton. The last time they met was October 10th 2014, Dixie Heights won 43-0. Greenwood beat Warren Central last season in the regular season finale, winning 43-6. Greenwood finished 2016 9-3 losing to Owensboro in the second round of the 5A playoffs. Warren Central was 0-10 and failed to make the post season. Do the Dragons have shot or do the Gators roll?

The Doss Dragons are one of the most talked about 5A schools in the offseason, everyone seems to be talking about all their division 1 players and playoff win over Highlands. The Dragons finished 6-6 losing in the second round of the 5A playoffs to Covington Catholic. Jeffersontown Coach Russell Rigdon is in his second year after finishing his first 1-10. The Chargers win was over Iroquois, and they ended the season with a first round loss to Scott County. J-Town faces a tough task of playing a 6A schedule with around 25 players in the program. Last season Doss won 40-0. What will it take for the outmanned Chargers to compete with the uber talented Dragons??

Fern Creek is coming off their 2nd straight 5A semifinal appearance and were 11-3 in 2016. Seneca went 1-10 last season, the Redhawks started the season with 50 total players in the program and finished with 18. Seneca has a new coach in former U of L linebacker Preston Smith, with a new coach comes excitement and the roster lists 35 players on varsity. Last season Fern Creek won 33-0 in the first week of the season. Fern Creek must replace nearly all of its offensive production, has 2 QB's competing for the job and 4 guys playing running back by committee. The Tigers had a strong showing in the scrimmage vs PRP, showing a more balanced offense both passing and running effectively. Can the new coach and excitement around the program level the playing field for Seneca or will Fern Creek be able to get the season started in a lopsided win.

Owensboro finished 10-3 in 2016, regional runner up to Bowling Green. Madisonville North Hopkins went 4-7, lost in the first round of the playoffs to South Warren. The two played on September 2nd 2016 with Owensboro winning 48-28. Owensboro reportedly lost a lot to graduation but does that narrow a 20 point gap? Who wins?
