  1. I have not had any issues with Western Digital external drives, mine are older but have a 1 TB and a 3 TB model that are desktop externals, the 1 TB backed up my old windows 7 desktop and the 3 TB is where I stored a bunch of video mostly semipro football games. I switched to Mac and still use those to pull up my old files. I now have a 1 TB portable WD that is small like a deck of cards using as a backup for my MacBook Pro
  2. I couldn't find who hosted Regional finals for Region 2 or 3. Yes with Grant County dropping out of district play they do only have 3 teams but not sure which districts 5th team would move over. I have looked on KHSAA and haven't found it.
  3. Regardless of if you are getting a simple instant read thermometer or a more advanced device with probes to read grill temp and meat temp both, I would advise to check out thermoworks products. I have a thermoworks thermopop as an instant read for grilling steaks and chicken. For low and slow I got an igrill2, but since then thermoworks put out the smoke and if I was buying today I would get the smoke
  4. Early 5A Semifinal Predictions This thread intends to outline the bracket and project favorites and contenders in each position. (Rankings listed are from the most recent Bluegrasspreps rankings). The alignment changed a little from last season, here is the alignment for 2017. REGION I District 1 vs. District 2 Favorite: #2 Bowling Green Contenders: #3 Christian County, #4 Owensboro Look Out For: #7 South Warren While Bowling Green is below .500 with a 1-2 record, the losses were to two Louisville 6A teams in St. Xavier and PRP. This week the Purples host Owensboro who they dominated last season in regular season and playoffs. The outcome of that contest should let us know if Bowling Green is still the elite of 5A. Christian County is undefeated and last year the Colonels scored 29 pts vs Bowling Green in the playoffs, the most points given up by the Purples all season. A wildcard in the mix is newcomer to 5A South Warren. Led by QB Gavin Spurrier who has thrown for 660 yards and 5 TD in 3 games. The Spartans are 3-0, but the verdict is out with the move up from 4A until October 20th at Bowling Green. PREDICTION: Despite their early losses don't count out the Purples. While they might not appear as formidable as last year they still have a great team last season best both Owensboro and Christian County both the regular season and playoff contests. Look for Bowling Green in the regional final. REGION II District 3 vs. District 5 Favorite: #1 Covington Catholic Contenders: #8 South Oldham, #9 Highlands Look Out For: #13 Bullitt Central Covington Catholic has been the most impressive and consistent 5A team this season. South Oldham took an early loss vs CAL, but have recovered with a couple strong wins. Highlands seems improved but don't think it enough to get out of this district. Bullitt Central is undefeated and has only given up 13 points but a weak schedule still leaves questions, tough games in October vs South Oldham and Bowling Green will either confirm or expose them. PREDICTION: If the rankings hold true this could be an amazing regional final of Covington Catholic vs South Oldham. REGION III District 4 vs. District 6 Favorite: #4 Fern Creek Contenders: #12 Doss, # 13 Madison Southern Look Out For: #15 Anderson County After two weeks Fern Creek appeared to be the heavy favorite after beating Manual for the first time in 7 years. Then the Tigers stumbled vs Central, getting shut out 0-29. Fern Creek has two more tough non district games to improve at Butler and at DeSales. Doss has dropped two straight to South Oldham and Male, can the talented Dragons get it together in games vs Butler and Fern Creek? Madison Southern is 2-1 but hasn't played the toughest schedule and #34 is out of eligibility now blocking punts and scoring touchdowns for Alabama. PREDICTION: The rankings say Fern Creek wins this region easily as the Tigers are the only top ten team in either district. However Doss was a preseason top ten and the Tigers vs Dragons regular season game should be a battle. REGION IV District 7 vs. District 8 Favorite: #6 Southwestern Contenders: #10 Pulaski County, #11 North Laurel Look Out For: #14 Whitley County Southwestern and North Laurel are both undefeated, while Pulaski County is 1-2. PREDICTION: History looks to repeat with Southwestern knocking North Laurel out of the playoffs for the second straight year. While both are putting up similar scores in their three wins, Southwestern seems to have the tougher schedule. Pulaski County knocked out Southwestern last season but are down from last years squad, look for the Warriors to get revenge. SEMIFINALS: Covington Catholic at Bowling Green Southwestern at Fern Creek How do you think it will play out?
  5. Pulaski County fell to 1-2 losing to 3A # 1 Corbin 7-36. The schedule does the Maroons no favors hosting 2A # 2 Danville. Danville is undefeated and coming off a big win over rival Boyle County 10-7. Can the Maroons compete or will the Admirals sink them?
  6. South Warren moved up to 5A and behind QB Gavin Spurrier, the Spartans are undefeated at 3-0. The schedule has been favorable for South Warren with two of the wins over winless Hopkinsville and Warren Central. Now they measure up against the 6A Bruins. Central Hardin is 2-1 losing to Christian Academy of Louisville 0-15 in the Friday night rain. The Bruins wins are over Northeast (TN) and Bullitt East. A big question for this game may be the field conditions at Central Hardin. Did the field get torn up last Friday night in the heavy rains from Hurricane Harvey.
  7. Undefeated Southwestern hosts winless Henry Clay. Southwestern is coming off a 24-15 win over Madison Southern, while Henry Clay lost 28-40 to Johnson Central. The Warriors have already routed one Lexington 6A team with a 50-0 win over Dunbar. Will Henry Clay fare any better?
  8. Christian County has delivered on expectations with a strong 3-0 start to 2017. This week they host the winless Hopkinsville Tigers (0-3). Hopkinsville has had a tough schedule losing to South Warren, Mayfield, and Caldwell County. The teams have a common opponent in Caldwell County with Christian County beating them 27-10, while Hopkinsville fell 21-28.
  9. Highlands hot start for 2017 hit a large speed bump in a 20-71 loss to 6A Scott County. The Bluebirds now try to get their momentum back hosting the 2-1 Ryle Raiders. Ryle was thumped by Covington Catholic 17-49, then got two wins against 0-3 Henry Clay and 0-2 Boone County. The verdict is still out on both teams as they have won the games they should and lost the games they were expected to. This game should answer questions for both sides.
  10. Bowling Green has lost two straight, both to 6A teams PRP and St. Xavier. In unfamiliar territory at 1-2 the Purples now must welcome getting back to 5A hosting the 2-1 Owensboro Red Devils. Owensboro is coming off a 47-12 win over Owensboro Catholic. Has the playing field leveled enough for the Red Devils to get revenge on the Purples for two losses last year? Bowling Green won 47-0 in the regular season meeting in 2016, then knocked Owensboro out of the 3rd round of playoffs with a 50-21 victory.
  11. Lot of ground beef seasoned in skillet with chili powder. Brooks chili hot beans, Rotels chili fixins, tomato sauce, a little water, brooks chili seasoning (getting hard to find). I make it thick, not super hot but a kick, serve in big bowls plenty of saltines, and top with sharp cheddar and jalapeños
  12. South Oldham (1-1) is coming off a bye week and face winless North Oldham. The Dragons had a tough loss to Christian Academy of Louisville but rebounded well beating Doss by 19. North Oldham played well vs Oldham County until a pair of fourth quarter pick sixes gave the game to the Colonels. Then they were routed as Waggener put up 65 points. The Mustangs face another big hurdle trying to contain QB Drew Zaubi and company.
  13. I think Valley's QB Campos is injured not sure if he played vs Louisville Holy Cross or Iroquois. He got banged up vs PRP.
  14. The new coach has improved a few things, the once shaky Central special teams are solid now. Often under Scroggins Central would outplay a school from a 5A or 6A but lose on a special teams mistake(s). Coach Dantzler has firmed that up, they were impressive in all aspects.
  15. When you get used to is you remember the codes ( I have used this software since 1999 for high school, semi-pro, and arena2) , also print out one of these sheets for reference http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/statc/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2015-16/misc_non_event/FB-RefCard.pdf
  16. Yes Abell is a Manual Grad, and his dad is at all the games, whole family actually. His parents help in many ways and are always at games, his brother Brian and girlfirend sell team logo wear at home games, his sister is a senior cheerleader at FC, and brother Kyle is our intern doing all kinds of stuff. Our staff has 4 Manual grads right now, Abell, Don Hillerich Def Coordinator, Ronnie Stoner Running backs, Eric Baxter Freshmen.
  17. Statcrew is what Trinity and me use too. They have a new version cloud based and no longer in DOS but not for high school just colleges. The company is based in Cincinnati.
  18. I use the same software and update Fern Creek's on KHSAA and Maxpreps, and email weekly PDFs of game stats and season to date totals to Jason Frakes and Co. i need to get a website to do the HTML like Trinity, the software makes it easy.
  19. When did Holy Cross stop wearing the black jersey (Bishop David throw back) when they played DeSales? I was with the semi-pro Louisville Bulls and during the mid to late 2000's we played our home games at Holy Cross and used to lend our black game pants to Holy Cross for the DeSales game every year. They had a set of black jerseys they only wore for that game. That was when Dave Weston was the coach.
  20. Final was 29-0. Central had a safety, 4 touchdowns, missed one PAT.
  21. other than Central's scoring drive late in 2nd it has been a punt fest.
  22. Our return man let the ball get past him and rolled down to the 4. two plays later QB tackled for safety. Then penalties on the return pushed Central back to their 13, but Rico White got hot passing and put together a 6 play 87 yard scoring drive, Td was 32 y pass White to Ukari Baker, the White kicked the point too. On Fern Creek's next drive QB Hester fumbled on a scramble and Central took over on FC 38, defense holds on downs and escapes at half down just 9-0. Fern Creek has just managed 55 yards of offense on 18 plays, while Central has 27 plays for 131.
  23. Deuce I am in the Pressbox, I have a Fern Creek media guide for you if you want. and rosters for both
  24. I agree but it's unfortunate for Ballers that I watch it after Game of Thrones and Ray Donovan. It can't live up to those shows. Unfortunately the half hour HBO and Showtime shows (Ballers, Entourage, Weeds) are often good but not on the same level as the hour long shows like Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Ray Donovan, Shameless, Deadwood, etc
