Fern Creek's offense is struggling to move the ball, Jamison White averages almost 10 yards a carry but just 24 yards on 12 carries in first half. DelQuan Wimberly has 25 y on 6 carries. Bowling Green's offense has moved the ball a little better, their offense uses more trick plays than I usually see. the first score was a hook and ladder. The second TD was a great pass QB Payne gets the pass off just before Hawkins hits him, WR Yates gets just behind our leaping safety who missed the ball. VS Bigger fast teams we sometimes struggle to get the offense going, our offensive guards are two hard nosed guys but end of the day they are 5-8 229, and 5-8 220. They are outsized by most DL they face.

Fern Creek had the usual Thursday practice at a earlier time, then went up To the cafeteria where a bunch of parents had a huge spread of breakfast food. AD Troy Johnson told some anecdotes from when he was a player practicing on Thanksgiving and as an assistant coach.

Fern Creek had normal game week practice at normal time today. Several former players were already home from college for the Holiday and there. On Thankgiving morning we practice from 9-10:30, then head up to the cafeteria for a breakfast with players coaches, families and fans

Fern Creek surged back from a 17-7 deficit midway thru the third quarter to edge out South Oldham 21-20. WKU signee Lamarius Kinslow caught two touchdown passes from Shamar Bryant in the come back victory. Jamison White again carried the load for the Tigers, with 22 carries for 155 yards and a touchdown. Fern Creek got off to a quick start with a 62 y touchdown run by Jamison White, Evan Flener kick. After the teams traded punts, QB Drew Zaubi evened the score with a 38 y QB keeper, Drew Koch kick. Late in the 2nd quarter Fern Creek had driven inside the S Oldham 30 hardline when Devon Blencoe fumbled and the Dragons Thomas Knabel recovered. South Oldham put together a 9 play 53 yard drive, and Drew Koch kicked a 35 yard field goal as the horn sounded for the half. South Oldham led 10-7, Fern Creek trailed at the half for the first time since the Fairdale game. Dylan Smith gets a good return to the S Oldham 37 to start the 2nd half for the Dragons. South Oldham marches down on an 11 play 63 yard drive, scoring on a 30 yard Drew Zaubi to Starr Thompson pass. The kick by Koch put South Oldham ahead 17-7, Fern Creek trailed by double digits, first since the Manual game. On the next drive Lamarius Kinslow makes a comeback catch over a Dragon defender and breaks away to score but the catch was called back for offensive pass interference. 2 plays later Kinslow catches a bubble screen and goes 42 yards inside the Dragons 10 hardline and again the play was nullified, this time by illegal motion, the Tigers were forced to punt and Evan Flener's punt was blocked by JaMartez Beaudoin, and Dragons have the ball at the Fern Creek 39. The Tigers defense held for a 3 and out, the the offense marched 80 yards in 6 plays. Lamarius Kinslow scored on a 50 y pass from Shamar Bryant, Flener kick. South Oldham still lead 17-14 with 18 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. South Oldham answers with their own 12 play 40 yard drive, Drew Koch kicks a 42 yard field goal to extend the South Oldham lead to 21-14 with 7:37 left in the game. on the ensuing drive Fern Creek marched 76 yards in 8 plays, Lamarius Kinslow scored on a 10 yard pass from Shamar Bryant. Evan Flener's kick gave Fern Creek the 21-20 lead with 3:22 remaining. Flener's deep squib kick is downed by South Oldham on their own 5. South Oldham gets to midfield but a 4th down pass falls incomplete with 1:28 to go. Fern Creek runs three times, and South Oldham uses their last two timeouts. Fern Creek punts for a touchback, the ball almost going out at the 1 hardline before falling into the end zone. South Oldham trials by one point with 80 yards to go and 22 seconds to get within Drew Koch's field goal range. on first down Drew Zaubi narrowly escapes a sack by Latrell Streater and flips the ball forward, at first it appeared a fumble and Dylan Dunbar picks it up, stiff arms a Dragon player and goes into the end zone. The refs huddle and sort it out, and South Oldham is penalized for intentional grounding their first penalty of the night. now with 18 seconds left faced 2nd and 20 on the 10. Zaubi throws two incomplete passes then is intercepted on the final play by Kyree Hawkins who runs around a few seconds until the horn sounds and goes down. Fern Creek wins their first Regional since the 1994 season, and ties the school record of most wins with 12. For Fern Creek Jamison White ran 22 times for 155 yards and a TD, Devon Blencoe carried 3 times for 56 yards, Delquan Wimberly 9 times for 48 yards, and Shamar Bryant 9 times for 25 yards. Bryant completed 3-6 passes for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns, all 3 receptions were by Lamarius Kinslow. Kyle Hawkins led the Tigers with 11 tackles, Fred Harris had 8, Tim Long 8, Latrell Streater 8. For South Oldham Drew Zaubi completed 10 of 23 passes for 131 yards and 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Shane Wilson had 20 carries for 82 yards, Starr Thompson had 8 carries for 31 yards and 4 catches for 96 yards, Keenan John had 4 catches for 30 yards.

That is weird, a JCPS head coach pay maxes out around 5 grand, if the coach is a teacher with masters or rank 1 or the like the teachers pay can be pretty good but have to be a teacher, the guys that work security or in school suspension and the like make peanuts.

For the second straight week the Fern Creek Tigers found themselves a favorite but with a close game at halftime. After leading 9-0 vs Bullitt Central last week, on Friday night the Tigers were tied 7-7 with a tough North Bullitt Eagles squad. Just before the end of the 1st quarter Fern Creek had put together a 7 play 59 yard drive scoring on a 32 yard run by Jamison White, Evan Flener kick. After a 3 and out by the Eagles, Fern Creek was driving again into NB territory. QB Shamar Bryant was hit as he threw the ball and the Eagles recovered the fumble on their own 49. They quickly capitalized on the turnover with a 4 play 51 yard drive, scoring on Logan James' 4 yard run, Tyler Caumissar kick. The teams would trade punts then another Fern Creek fumble set up North Bullitt on the Fern Creek 24 yardline. The Tigers defense stiffened, the Eagles rushed for no gain on first and second down, on 3rd down QB Andrew Brown was sacked for an 8 yard loss by Tim Long and Eric Woods. On fourth down Trevon White intercepted Brown on the 2, his momentum carrying him into the end zone. he was ruled down on the 2 and the Tigers ran out the clock with a couple of QB kept by Shamar Bryant. Fern Creek received the 2nd half kickoff, the Eagles pooched it to an up back and LB Dylan Dunbar caught the ball on the run at his own 35 and returned it to the North Bullitt 30, barreling over an Eagle defender on the return. on 2nd down Lamarius Kinslow catches a pass from Shamar Bryant and with a stiff arm gets to the 6 hardline, Jamison White punches it in on a 6 y run the next play, Flener kick. Fern Creek had retaken momentum at 10:09 3rd quarter. North Bullitt would cross midfield but were again forced to punt, pinning the Tigers on their 4 yardline. Fern Creek offense comes again strong with an 8 play 96 yard drive. Jamison White accounted for most of the yardage on the drive, but the score came on a 9 yard Shamar Bryant to Lamarius Kinslow TD pass, Flener kick with 3:55 left in 3rd quarter. The teams would trade puns and turnovers. With 4:03 left in the game North Bullitt just turned the ball over on downs at their own 29 hardline. Jamison White needed just one play to score with a 29 y run, his 3rd touchdown. Evan Flener added the kick to make the lead 28-7 (nice prediction Jason Frakes). North Bullitt would put together their longest drive of the night getting to the Fern Creek 5 yardline facing 4th and Goal, But QB Andrew Brown was dropped for a 4 yard loss by Dylan Dunbar and Rahman Quran. Shamar Bryant kneeled it and Fern Creek would advance to the third round. Jamison White had 22 carries for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns. Shamar Bryant completed 4 of 10 passes for 86 yards and 1 touchdown. Lamarius Kinslow had 3 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown and 8 tackles, 2 for loss and a pass breakup. AJ Girton led the Tigers with 9 tackles, Kyree Hawkins and Dylan Dunbar each had 7 tackles, Eric Woods, Latrell Streater and Fred Harris each had 6. Sr RB Jamison White now has 153 carries for 1502 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season. WR LB Lamarius Kinslow (WKU signee) has 37 catches for 670 yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 93 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 defensive touchdowns.

In response to Thsrocks wrong #2, The easy fix for that is not have guys wear the same number and if you have to at least don't make them the same position. A few years ago I was doing stats for Manual vs St X and X had 3 kickers, all were # 6, all 3 kicked, that's just stupid I got it all straight thru help of X announcer and radio crew, but was tempted to turn in wrong just from aggravation.

Fern Creek is in leaders in most categories for 5A, and defensively the rank in a few in the overall. Some of the stats are skewed by people not reporting complete stats. Some teams only turned in rushing yards allowed and passing yards allowed for 1 or 2 of their games so that shows up In the leaders. South Laurel for instance according to the stat reports despite being 2-8 and giving up a total of 383 points, they have only allowed 65 yards passing and 296 rushing, per the stats they are giving up more points than yardage. :sssh: I do Fern Creek's stats myself, and enter our stats into KHSAA every week as well. After the games I email our coaches and Jason Frakes a game report of 10-14 pages, and every week I also email them the season to date totals report that is about 24 pages, the software makes me look good.

Manual listed with 769 boys all 4 grades, but like Sparky Anderson said, many of even the boys are YPAS, MST (math science technology), a large number of special needs kids, this year Manual only had 16 freshmen, last year about 20. When I was there with Nichols we usually had somewhere between 25-35. it was less at the end of Nichols tenure when Wooldridge became principal, even though his son's were on the team, getting kids in became harder and harder. We would have younger siblings of players not be able to get in. Would have thought Principal Mayes would have been a friend to the football program, he was Manual's coach before Nichols, but it seems football numbers are dropping lower under his administration.

Lucas' record is 44-24 with playoffs remaining where they will probably be favored to beat Ballard after winning close regular season game, then will be underdog at Male. I doubt they beat Male, so he will finish either 44-25 or 45-25, Frakes states he was 0-15 vs Trinity and St. X. Joe Nichols record was 66-38, 1-17 vs Trinity and St. X. Who does Manual think can do better? When Nichols was let go it was cited they wanted to compete with St X and Trinity, Lucas had success but failed to do better that aspect. Chris Wolfe has had recent success vs those two, and Bob Redmond had some sucess as well, but Wolfe has a job and Redmond is running for Metro Council.

Don't know about Lucas if forced out or his choice, Nichols was forced out by former principal whose son was QB.

Been hearing this for a few weeks, he announced it to his players last Friday, confirmed by Jason Frakes article today. Manual coach Lucas stepping down after playoffs | USA Today High School Sports | USA Today High School Sports Interesting to see what Manual does here. Both Lucas and Nichols before him had a good record vs public schools, both had sucess vs Male but neither could beat St X, Nichols beat Trinity once, Lucas didn't get a win vs Trinity.

With Fern Creek on a bye, I went to this game and helped JoJo 13 with stats. Oldham Co led 9-0 after a fumble return for Td and a safety (sack in endzone). At halftime Jtown was up 20-17. Oldham had added a short interception return TD, and 2pt conversion. Oldham only had 62 yards at halftime to J-towns 316, 312 rushing. But Oldham made some good halftime adjustments switching from 4-3 to 4-4, and some offensive adjustments where they executed in second half and scored two offensive TD's and putting up over 200y in second half, while holding J-town to under 100 y in second half and a TD with under 1 min left in the game, the onside kick was touched by kicking team before 10, so Oldham finally got two plays in the Victory formation this season.

Fern Creek has a bye this week, It wasn't by design but happened due to the move down to 5A and going from 3 district games to 5. Our first round opponent Bullitt Central has a bye as well, so we can't take advantage and watch them. Haven't decided what game I am going to yet.

Fern Creek (9-1, 5-0) scored on 6 of their first 7 drives to rout the visiting Atherton Rebels (2-8, 0-5) 41-0 on Senior Night. Jamison White surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the season in the second quarter, on Friday night he ran 13 times for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns. Delquan Wimberly ran 6 times for 46 yards and 1 touchdown. Shamar Bryant threw just 6 passes but completed 3 for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns, both to Kyree Hawkins. Backup QB Isaiah Hester completed 1 pass to DJ Brown. Kyree Hawkins had 2 catches for 77 yards and 2 TD, 2 carries for 5 yards. The Tigers defense held Atherton to a net 33 yards, 11 by ground 22 by air. Fred Harris led with 7 tackles, Latrell Streater had 5, Trevon Whit and Tim Long each had 4. The 9-1 start is the best in 20 years for Fern Creek. The 1995 team started 10-0, eventually falling to St. X in the third round of the 4A playoffs and finish 12-1, the 1994 team finished 12-2. Fern Creek has a bye next week, then will host Bullitt Central in the first round of the playoffs.

Oldham County has struggled to score wirh only one game in double digits, but should have a chance to win both of their last 2 games. At Bullitt East, the Chargers are dinged up and I don't think this game has any playoff implications with Chargers locking up 3rd seed to Play Fairdale in first round (what I was told),and Oldham Co eliminated from playoffs after loss last night. Bullitt East has a bye in last week and may elect to rest guys and try to get healthy for playoffs. Then in last week Oldham hosts Jeffersontown. J-town is 2-7 and has comparable scores vs common opponents with Oldham.

WKU signee Lamarius Kinslow had a quiet game last week vs Doss, in the blowout win the WR/MLB had two catches and 2 tackles. Lamarius quickly made an impact vs Iroquois, he sacked QB Lamont Groves on 3&7 on the first Raiders drive to force a punt. Then he caught a 9 y TD pass from Shamar Bryant on the ensuing Tigers drive. He got another tackle on the next Iroquois drive, then when they punted he blocked the Sean Broadway punt and picked it up at the 2 and went in for the short TD. Kinslow would catch two more touchdowns of 22 and 19 yards, and total 9 tackles, 1 sack, 1 blocked kick scooped and scored, 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss. Shamar Bryant would add a 1 y keeper for TD, and Delquan Wimberly ran for. 3 y TD for the last Fern Creek touchdown. Shamar Bryant completed 6 of 15 passes for 96 yards, 3 touchdowns, no interceptions, and rushed 5 times for net 51 yards and 1 touchdown. Kinslow had 5 catches for 69 y and 3 TD, Jamison White 1 catch 27 yards. Jamison White ran 7 times for 56 yards, Delquan Wimberly ran 9 times for 43 yards and 1 touchdown. Damon Durrah had some 3 punt returns for 82 yards, including a 37 yard return to the 1 yard line to set up Bryant's keeper on next play. For Iroquois Gerrome Kohn rushed 14 times for 60 yards, Lamont Groves rushed 15 times for net 22 yards. Groves completed 5 of 15 passes for 21 yards and no interceptions. Fred Harris had 9 tackles to match Kinslow, Dylan Dunbar had 8, Kyree Hawkins 7, Devon Blincoe 6, and Eric Woods had 5. For Iroquois Marcus Harbin had 6 tackles , 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss, Sean Broadway had 5, Deontane Neal had 4.

Nothing that bad but at an away game this year the announcer was yelling out the box for students to gather under him in the stands, they sat in a different section anyway. Then he was goin over his script with about 3 buddies egging him on with what he was going to say when they scored (they didn't), every home first down (they got 4 total one was by penalty), and every long play (held them to net 13 yards). He kept yelling out of the box, was annoying, he didn't yell over the PA, but did get a few of his movie lines worked into the commentary. I am usually all for movie lines but time and place. Luckily at Fern Creek we have a crew of guys that do PA and clock and spot and they all have done it for years and stay pretty professional. They do the drawn out Tigers first down or touchdown but that's about it.

After a Dragons punt, Delquan Wimberly capped an 8 play 56 yard drive with a two yard touchdown run, kick failed. Doss punted again and Jamison White needed just one play to run 76 yards for a score, Flener kick. another Doss punt resulted in a 2 play drive, Jamison White 71 yard TD run, Flener kick. Fern Creek led 34-0 at halftime, the offense was rolling with 29 plays for 315 yards, and the Tigers defense had held the Tigers to 19 plays for a net -2 yards. the Dragons threw a pick 6 followed by 5 punts. Doss got the ball first in the 2nd half, but Fred Harris intercepted QB Deon Pumphrey, returning it to the Doss 20. The Dragons defense held and Fern Creek settled for a 28 y field goal by Evan Flener, and the clock was running with 8:43 3rd quarter. Doss punted again but pinned Fern Creek deep at their own 16, QB Isaiah Hester pitched out to Devon Blincoe who couldn't bring the ball in, Blincoe chased after the ball, but Doss Mark Tilford recovered the fumble in the end zone for 0 y fumble recovery touchdown. Deon Pumphrey threw to Terez Traynor for the 2 pt pass. Fern Creek led 37-8, which was the final score. Fern Creek was led by Jamison White 11 carries for 209 y and 2 touchdowns. Shamar Bryant completed 5 of 10 passes for 70 yards and 1 touchdown, no interceptions. WKU signee Lamarius Kinslow had a quiet night, he was targeted 4 times catching the 2 that were catchable for 27 yards, He had 2 tackles, but tackles were hard to come by with Doss rushing 19 times and completing just 1 pass. Both of his tackles were for loss. Fred Harris had 6 tackles, 2 for loss and an interception. Andre Girton had 4 tackles and our only sack. Jaron Lacy (pick 6) and Andre Anglin had the other two interceptions. The Tigers defense held Doss to -1 y rushing on 19 carries and 38 total yards.

That DeSales vs Fern Creek game was probably one of the better games either team will play this year. Both teams battled, and although the score looked lopsided DeSales could have easily had 10 points or more, they missed a field goal from a make able distance, and were shut out 4 plays from the 1 yard line, the second down play was very close.
