Been hearing this for a few weeks, he announced it to his players last Friday, confirmed by Jason Frakes article today.

Interesting to see what Manual does here. Both Lucas and Nichols before him had a good record vs public schools, both had sucess vs Male but neither could beat St X, Nichols beat Trinity once, Lucas didn't get a win vs Trinity.

This comment in the article just struck me oddly

" But I look at St. X and Trinity and say, ‘Why not my kids?"

So is he saying he can't take them athletically where St X and Trinity are? If so, few can.

Seems more to it to me. But, also seems like a good time to get out. Freshman team only had about 17 guys. Dorsey DLine and Comstock QB and very good senior class are departing as well.

Lucas' record is 44-24 with playoffs remaining where they will probably be favored to beat Ballard after winning close regular season game, then will be underdog at Male. I doubt they beat Male, so he will finish either 44-25 or 45-25, Frakes states he was 0-15 vs Trinity and St. X.

Joe Nichols record was 66-38, 1-17 vs Trinity and St. X.

Who does Manual think can do better? When Nichols was let go it was cited they wanted to compete with St X and Trinity, Lucas had success but failed to do better that aspect.

Chris Wolfe has had recent success vs those two, and Bob Redmond had some sucess as well, but Wolfe has a job and Redmond is running for Metro Council.

I would also argue that Wolfe can more easily get "players" in at Male than anyone can at Manual. I bet that is a major issue in taking the next step. I would say villecoach can give us more insight into some of the hurdles.

We are obviously in rumor territory but when discussing this today the first name I heard mentioned was a former St X head coach . . .

When I read the article there some very interesting comments made by the good Dr. Just reading in between the lines, sounds like the football program and the administration may not have been on the same page.

This should be a good job and a number of quality applicants are probably already sending in their resumes. If the right person is hired this program could take off like Male and T. Being a magnet school, they have a bit more freedom than the other JCPS.
