Trinity - Ryle (Scrimmage Preview)
ShamrockChamps replied to UK#1fanisback's topic in KY Football (High School)
Gonna try & make this one, never been to Ryle. Anyone know the format? That last several Trinity preseason scrimmages I've been they've played 3 quarters like an actual game and then in the fourth they've just focused on playing all of the backups, younger players. -
2017 Trinity opener set with Carmel Greyhounds

Cathedral has a nice field, just a very small seating area, no visiting side, they just play freshmen & jv games there, could never accommodate a varsity game. -

Last meeting between Moe & T was 2014 at Moe... we lost 17-14 in a tough fought game where we were 0-3 on FG attempts which obviously bit us. Looking forward to seeing this matchup again!! Would rather have that any day than these local blowouts that aren't much fun for the fans or the team.- 15 replies

Don't know him personally but I've met Coach Scroggins several times over the years and always thought he seemed like a great guy as well as being a great coach. Hate to hear he's stepping down but I'm sure he'll get back into coaching eventually, wishing him well! -
Why does this take so long? every year, good grief...

I know Trinity has a display w/ some Flaget memorabilia in the main building/rotunda. All of my uncles and dad attended Flaget so there was definitely a lot of Flaget alums that sent their kids to Trinity. St X & Flaget were the big rival back in the day before Flaget shut down.

GRC loss was 91', remember that pretty vividly....

Trinity 56 Lafayette 21 - 6A State Championship

Everytime a kid opened their mouth a flag was thrown, never seen so many... really slowed the game down -

Spencer Blackburn was the best QB on the field last night period, was "targeted" all night, inbounds & out, that was obvious. What a great & gutsy performance by that kid. -
Trinity 56 Lafayette 21 - 6A State Championship
ShamrockChamps replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
The worst hit of the game was 330lb Willis smashing Spencer Blackburn in the back while he laid on the ground 5 yards out of bounds in the 1st half. Willis got a personal foul of course but couldn't believe Blackburn jumped up from that, could've seriously hurt the kid. So please stop with the hit on Walker, was drilled while throwing the ball, that's football. And I hope he is fine, never ever want to see a kid get hurt. -

Understand your point but Beatty has taken the Trinity program to a completely different level, has coached HALF of the schools 24 state championship teams in just 17 years being there, pretty amazing no matter where you are or what team you coach. -

Congrats Rocks on #24 & the schools 600th win!! Beatty now has won the most state titles of any coach in the history of KY HS football with 12. Pretty amazing when you think he took over at Trinity in 2000. -
Trinity/Lafayette 6A Predictions
ShamrockChamps replied to UK#1fanisback's topic in KY Football (High School)
42-14 Rocks sounds about right to me... Rocks D has lost a little bit of focus the past few weeks but there will be no slowing their Offense.... #24 will be coming back to St. Matthews, Go Rocks!! -

Back to the game.... I think it's gonna be a lot closer than most think, Tigers have improved & the Rocks better bring their A game... thinking 17-10 or so Trinity. Go Rocks!! -

So tired of reading Woolford saying "most of our kids went to Catholic grade schools".. Guess what, most of ours did too!! But honestly who cares!! Our schools should be open to anyone that wants to attend... Just feel like he says that as a built in crutch or something, wears me out.... good grief. -
6A Playoffs Trinity/Ballard Predictions
ShamrockChamps replied to UK#1fanisback's topic in KY Football (High School)
Ballard is a much better team than the final score indicated last game. Trinity struggled to move the ball first half & obviously the second half was a different story. Trinity wins again but maybe a little closer, let's say 42-14. -
6A Playoffs St. Xavier/Male Predictions

I can only imagine the nightmare parking is going to be for this -
Rondell Moore ran back a punt for a TD that got called back, never seen a kid turn the corner that quick... This kid is the real deal, unbelievable speed, I didn't believe the hype but just wow now

I was at both those games & believe those numbers are highly inflated, although it was packed for sure. I highly doubt the fire marshall would allow 10,000 in that stadium, lol.
-
Sure hope this happens!! The playoff rematch when it happens is always so poorly attended, what a great atmosphere this would be & a sellout for sure! I've heard the stadium w/ standing room could hold around 6800, correct me if I'm wrong.
