article Bluegrasspreps Mr. Football Watchlist (10/16)
Sportsman 23 replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
Allen is the best quarterback in the State with out a doubt and will win MR Football with his numbers, media and commitment to Ky. I do think Reese Smith is the best player but will not get enough votes especially committing out of State. That shouldn’t be a factor but it will effect voting. Smith and Mayer are a long shot but no one else on the list has a shot. -
I agree Allen is a High Level D1 Qb and will probably hit a couple throws and has the ability to scramble. Lexington Catholic will be playing against the best D they have seen and probably the best lineman in the State up front,Catholic has to find a way to block up front. I’m going 49-21. I’m coming down for this one, should be a great atmosphere for a high school game.

Wilson Kelly DT Boyle County Commits
Sportsman 23 replied to WestDanville's topic in KY Football (High School)
I thought he looked better on offense also on tape, but when I looked him up he led the State last year for dlineman in tackles with 114 and 28 for loss from nose, that's unheard of from that position, so I don't know, just a dominant football player on either side. -

I went to Danville last week and watched Boyle. Kentucky/Louisville just missed out on one of the best lineman in the state. Congrats. -
6A #1 Trinity at 6A #2 Male Predictions/Updates
Sportsman 23 replied to Bac2369's topic in KY Football (High School)
I'm going Trinity 24-14. Should be a great game -
I have watched Cal a couple times this year and seen Boyle once, Cal is 90 percent run which will make it difficult for them to score on Boyle, in saying that if Boyle tries to run the football heavy against Cal it will be a lot closer, I wasn't impressed with Boyles Oline, they are very average up front. If Boyle continues to throw the ball around, I stand by my score of 42-14. I'm coming down for this one but don't expect it to be as close as people think.

My Hounds are a year away. Just hope to improve each game and anything can happen in the playoffs.

I went to the Boyle game last night, there oline looks like a work in progress but agree Sacco in my opinion and the college Coach that was with me. Sacco is Boyle’s best back, forget offers Just a different level of physicality with that kid.

Covington Catholic 39 Lexington Catholic 38

I watched this game, Cov Catholic is not the same team we have seen the past few years. Both defenses were very average and looked un-prepared for the other. Great High School game to watch with a couple great players playing. -

4A #1 Boyle County at 2A Danville Predictions/Updates
Sportsman 23 replied to charlesw88's topic in KY Football (High School)
Danville just has to get thru this one with no injuries and keep improving They have to at least find a way to block 73 up front and keep him from the QB or Danville won’t even hardly get a play off. I’m not a Boyle or Danville fan but watched Boyle last week and they are really good even though they were not playing anybody that kid dominated the game on both sides from the line. Boyle’s overall team speed, especially on defense is as fast is I’ve seen in my 40 years of watching High School Football. Boyle 56-0 -

2A #2 Mayfield vs. 3A #10 Paducah Tilghman
Sportsman 23 replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
I look forward to seeing the result of this one and watching the tape. I really think Paducah Til May be a team that can make some noise in the playoffs. This game will help both teams. I’m going Mayfield 28-21in a close one. -

Catholic has IMO the best quarterback in the State in Allen. I went to this game and watched Allen his mobility has improved. They could challenge Boyle, Catholic has to get better defense,I’ve watched Boyle in person once and on tape last week. Boyle passing defense is soft at this point and with Catholics passing attack against Boyles zone it May set up for a district shootout. -
2A #4 Danville at 3A #1 Boyle County

I’m going to come down for this one although I think Boyle will win comfortably. I’m going 49-14. Danville will have a hard time stopping Boyle’s leading receiver Smith, also Colwick and Bartleson have played great on offense and Lanter throwing the ball. For Danville to have any success on Offense it will start in blocking Boyle’s leading tackler Kelly upfront and establish the Run. If Danville can’t run the ball some they will struggle to score. I called someone at County today to ask him about his thoughts on the game and was told that Hatter was more than likely out which hurts Boyles defense and he also said Smith won’t play Crawford, he likes Sacco in the backfield with Bartleson. One thing back when I coached I always heard about Smith if he thinks someone is better he will replace you and it doesn’t matter if your a senior. I’m looking forward to the atmosphere. I hope I’m wrong and it’s a good game. -
Boyle County 35 Ballard 21
Sportsman 23 replied to WestDanville's topic in KY Football (High School)
Wireman good footage,I slowed that down and paused it on the release, refs normally are told to give 1 step and some give 2 based on momentum but from a old Coach I thought that was a bad call! -
Boyle County 35 Ballard 21
Sportsman 23 replied to WestDanville's topic in KY Football (High School)
Fun game to watch as a football fan. Couple takeaways I had. Boyle’s oline is not bad there ok,but need to improve and will. Ballard is grown men at every position on both lines and solid legitimately 300 or better at about all positions. Both qbs struggled with ball security 4 picks by Ballard,Boyle Qb put the ball on the ground 3 times and a pick saved by a flag.In the quarterbacks defense they both were pressured all night Ballard line backers are solid but struggled with there reads looked inexperienced but definitely D1 athletes. The Hatter kid didn’t play much in the game for some reason?Coach Morton said, we dropped too many passes and turned over the ball too much and had silly penalties that killed us. Morton said the difference 2nd half was we couldn’t block Boyle’s big tackle 73, we tried several things and we still let a dline man have 11 tackles especially from nose and expect to be effective on offense and we didn’t pick up the blitz when Boyle sent guys. I’m looking forward to going to Male next week, I said in another post Coach Morton is trying to change Ballard football, a win at Male would be huge. Boyle fans should be extremely happy although neither team really played well Boyle beat a very good and athletic football team. Last thing, folks Boyle is fast, very fast in person! -

Corbin big in this one. 42-14 -
6A #4 Male vs. 6A #10 Ballard
Sportsman 23 replied to Tigerpride94's topic in KY Football (High School)
I’m going Male 28-21, only because it’s at Male and Ballard’s D1 running back is out, but this is a different Ballard squad, I believe after watching them last night. Coach Morton is trying to change the attitude at Ballard. Can he do it and get a very talented team to play together?Time will tell. -
Wireman there are multiple kids on Ballard that can play, no disrespect to none of the kids I don’t mention just a few that standout to me. . #12 Downing CB 6”2 180( both corners are solid),#18 Downing 6”5 185 WR,#71 DE Collett 6”5 315 lb,#10 lb Brown(who I feel is best player on defense)6”1 230,#6 Casey LB 6”4 230lbs. There D1 back is out but have a nice backup in Byrd I believe is #7 he is probably 6”0 200 and runs a 4.4-4.5. Carr is #15 QB and is about 6”4 200 and was hurt last year for CAl but has won a State Title. He is a special player and would have some D1 offers if he hadn’t got hurt. Tremendous arm strength and accuracy. We will see how he gels with a very talented Ballard squad. There’s my 2 cent scouting report. Lol.
