Boyle County 43 Mercer County 7

Featured Replies

Final.

Boyle was hitting on all cylinders in the first half and did pretty much anything they wanted on offense. But Mercer was able to expose some chinks in the armor on 3 time consuming drives that did not produce any points but had to give the Titans some positive points to highlight in film this week.

Boyle County is well, Boyle County. That being said, Mercer did some good things that they can build on. They did score on Boyle County’s defense, so that ends that streak for the Rebels. Mercer also made some nice defensive plays and did get going on offense in the second half, only to be turned away at the goal line. Boyle County is a very impressive team, in all aspects. Both teams come out healthy, for the most part, which is always a good thing, especially in a lopsided game like this. Best of luck to the Rebels going forward, and keep on fighting to improve Titans!

Mercer did some nice things in the game that they can build on. The long pass they scored on was against some of Boyle's 2nd string secondary. Boyle County all state safety Reese Smith was on the sidelines when the pass was completed against his replacement. Good luck to Mercer the rest of the season.

Mercer

Plays 47 - 163 yards

Rushing 34-67 yards

Passing 7-13 96 yards

1st downs 8

3rd downs 4/11

4th downs 0/3

Penalties 6-60 yards

I actually thought Mercer's run defense was pretty good. It looked as if they wanted Boyle to have to throw and Boyle was able to do so. They also did a decent job of taking away the big play. Made Boyle be more disciplined and patient and Boyle was able to do so. Definitely the best team Boyle has faced but things ramp up considerably next week.

Listened to the 2nd half. The opening drive by Mercer challenged Boyle.

That said, two key penalties were big factors to keeping the Titans moving. A bad play by Boyle was hitting a Mercer runner out of bounds and then later a pass interference call vs Rebels aided the Titans.

Boyle did show that their running game needs some improvements but McDaniel showed again that Boyle has more than Bartelson.

Coach B should be proud of the fight his kids showed after being down 22-0.

I was proud of our effort and in spots we played some good football.

When we did not, credit goes to the Rebels. They are a very good team.

I really appreciate Coach Chuck Smith being complimentary of our team & kids in the media before and after the game. Legendary coach but even better man & friend.

Good luck to the Rebels going forward.

Our guys will build on the positives and the areas we need to improve.

Best wishes for both programs moving forward.

I don't know why Andrew Sacco don't get more carries. Kid is a beast. He had a couple big games last year.

He had an ankle injury in the preseason that forced him to miss game 1. Boyle tries to limit players going both ways as much as they can for the early part of the season. Sacco is more valuable at LB right now than he is as a RB which is why he isn’t getting a lot of carries.

I went to the Boyle game last night, there oline looks like a work in progress but agree Sacco in my opinion and the college Coach that was with me. Sacco is Boyle’s best back, forget offers Just a different level of physicality with that kid.

He may very well be and later on in the season his carries may pick up. What I’m getting at, to Boyle, he is not as easily replaced at LB as he is at RB.

The next three games will be the great reveal on how Boyle is doing.

I understand that Colwick is out for six weeks for the Rebels. They will miss him but it will give opportunities for others to step up.

Cash Logan will get his chance now.
