  1. Not a surprise here to me. Cal is healthy and on the road to a state championship.
  2. I said a while back on a post even when I Coached, people forget when you go to a 3-5 basically the d lineman are to establish themselves 2 yards up field and hold position for the delayed draw and qb contain not to over pursue. The goal is not pressure the qb just contain, you rely on numbers (8)in your zone to cover. Pressure is from sending backers, not the front. Allen will have all day if Boyle doesn’t blitz. Boyle has a weakness on defense it’s underneath in the zone but I have only seen Boyle 4 times but watched some tape on them. I always hated the 3 front it’s like playing prevent, a lot of holes underneath. This is a dangerous game for Boyle, but I’m picking Boyle 42-28
  3. Trinity wins 56-7 against the Camels. I don’t expect the starters to play much tomm night. I know we have a few banged up a bit this week.
  4. Just heard from a coach up here in Louisville Sophmore Landen Bartelson just got a offer from Louisville. Boyle now has 2 D1 players with Bartelson and Bramel. You add Kelly,Smith,Hatter, who will be getting offers at that level soon without a doubt. You have 5 D1 starters playing with the possibility of a few more. Boyle will be right behind us at Trinity with D1 level players, that’s impressive for a 3A school. Boyle should be really good with that kind of talent.
  5. Ok correction, everyone knows about LCA, but when you have Danville, Newport, and Lloyd,LCA would be considered a “long shot” to get to Lexington and hoist a trophy, but a very capable team that nobody including myself would pick.
  6. I feel 6A is down and Trinity will not get challenged in the playoffs. I look for some good games up until the championship for the fans to see but just not a lot of really good teams in the class this year.
  7. LCA would be my dark horse. Danville beat them earlier but look for the Ads to get challenged and the winner of that game I feel will go on to play in the championship. A dangerous game for the Ads in there quest back to the championship.
  8. I'm a Trinity fan but would like to see Trinity pick up a Boyle County, Belfry, Covington Catholic, etc.. I'm a Trinity fan but those 3 games would be our 3 toughest games on the schedule this year or possibly next. I like playing out of State teams also but why not put some of the best in our State on the schedule, put it on a Saturday night in the stadium as a kick off and have the top 6 or 8 schools in the State play...On another note, We cant control those teams that are normally strong having a off year and being on the schedule.
  9. Just wondering how many Ky players got invited. I know it’s a strict process that they only take 500 nationally I believe. Here is who I know about. Other names? 1. Vito Tisdale Bowling Green 2. Wondale Robinson Western Hills 3. Devin Johnson Johnson Central 4. Wilson Kelly Boyle County
  10. I went to the Boyle/Catholic game Smith does the same thing I did when I coached lots of time when playing a 3 front the dline is to establish themselves 2 yards up field to contain the draw and qb and put faith in Your zone which it obviously worked, they shut down the run and gave up one touchdown basically. The last Td catholic scored was on back-ups. It’s a old school philosophy but we still see it in Louisville on occasion. We always would send a weak side line backer at times. If you got good athletes you can get bye with it. Remember as a Coach you don’t always show all your cards when ur going to meet a team later in the playoffs more than likely on any level.
  11. My top ten 1. Wandale Robinson- Western Hills 2. Jarius Brents- Louisville Wagner 3. Derek Wellman- Belfry 4. Tajh Rice- Louisville Wagner (lineman) 5. Beau Allen- Lexington Catholic 6. Wilson Kelly- Boyle (lineman) 7. Damian Jones- Lexington Catholic 8. Reese Smith- Boyle 9. Cameron Sizemore- Corbin 10. Will Bramel- Boyle (lineman) 10. Jay Becherer- E- town I keep up with 3a and 6a since I'm a big Trinity fan but 3a has a lot of really good players in this class. I'm sure we all are forgetting some really good players but these are some of the ones that come to mind that are very special..
  12. I’m coming down for this one, I expect Boyle to win because of its defense. Catholics line hasn’t seen a Dline like Boyle’s. They are big and fast led by the big man in the middle. Catholic struggled earlier on offense when pressure was brought by Cov. Cath. Boyle wins 42-21.
  13. I feel Danville has the best win by beating Boyle early but I’ve seen a few of these teams play to me:1. Desales 2.Mayfield 3.LCA 4. CAL 5. Danville. All really good teams 2a is just that strong.
  14. Rondale Moore is the best player I’ve seen and what you don’t get to see he is a beast in the weight room, freakishly strong. Jarius Brent’s and Wandale Robinson are 2a and 2b.
  15. I don't think this will be all that close especially if Robinson don't play. I'm going 38-21 St. X
  16. 1. Belfry 2. Boyle 3. Corbin 4. E-town 5. Central Belfry is really good and I think is the best team at this point but not nearly the same team as prior years. A lot of Belfry's talent is similar to Boyle it's young. Belfry's name demands respect but the seperation in these 5 teams is a lot less than people think and do not count Lexington Catholic out. Any of these teams could win it on a given night.
  17. My Rock are looking good. Good point guru you are or your not D1. Times have changed, when I coached it was skill level that got you there. Most of it now is your 40 time for skilled and your size for lineman. If your 6"5 300 and very average that level will recruit you versus 5"10 lineman 250 that is a great football player.
  18. Desales defense is better than Catholics. Look for Allen to be under pressure all night. Des ales wins 42-21 and stays undefeated.
  19. I've only seen Boyle twice but I said early on Kelly and Paycheck are both All State d tackles. All great defensive teams starts up front when I coached and any coach presently will say that..,when the Oline has to double team every play it just opens a lot up for others to make plays and keeps lineman of backers. I plan on attending the Catholic game this year. Should be a good one!
  20. 49-46. I told everyone earlier this week this would be a difficult game for Danville to win because of match ups.
