Who do you think is the best team in Class 3A right now?

Forget about prior week's rankings, last year's results and expectations. And I'm not asking who you think will win the state championship or who has the best playoff path.

I am only asking your opinion about the top teams in the class, at this moment. Take a snapshot of the class, and judging solely on this year's teams, personnel and results, who do you think is the best team, TODAY?

Teams listed alphabetically, with this season's results to date...

Belfry 3-1

vs. Huntington WV lost 45-34

@ Bryan Station won 40-19

at Newport Catholic won 54-29

vs. Pikeville won 56-13

Boyle County 4-1

@ John Hardin won 41-6

vs. Waggener won 54-19

@ Danville lost 10-7

vs. Wayne Co won 38-14

@ Collins won 45-17

Caldwell County 4-1

vs. Christian Co lost 27-10

vs Graves Co won 27-10

@ Hopkinsville won 28-21

@ Crittenden Co won 64-21

@ Henderson Co won 42-28

Central 3-2

@ Manual won 7-0

@ Western won 13-12

vs. Fern Creek won 29-0

vs. Ballard lost 30-7

vs. St. X lost 42-7

Corbin 3-1

@ Whitley Co won 14-0

vs. Alcoa TN won 22-21

vs. Pulaski Co won 36-7

@ Beechwood lost 36-29

Elizabethtown 3-1

@ Franklin Simpson won 55-23

vs. North Hardin won 50-14

@ Christian Academy Louisville lost 24-9

vs. Thomas Nelson won 42-7

Lexington Catholic 3-2

@ Madison Central won 34-24

vs. Covington Catholic lost 48-2

vs. Lafayette won 25-0

@ Lexington Christian lost 56-36

@ Highlands won 21-18

This is a tough call right now.

- Belfry, Corbin, and Boyle County all have what you might call "good" or "quality" losses.

- Corbin has the best win, vs. Alcoa. Two weeks later, Alcoa gave powerhouse Maryville all they could handle before falling 28-24, making the win for Corbin look even better.

- Central has played, arguably, the toughest schedule and has taken their lumps the past two weeks.

- No one's had better results lately than Boyle County.

When it's this hard to find separation, I go with the King of the Mountain, which is still Belfry, until further notice.

I think Belfry and Boyle are the two trending in the right directions.

All I know, is this class is gonna be a heck of a lot of fun from the week before Thanksgiving and on. Lots of exciting football to be played in this class.

I, too, am on the Belfry bandwagon right now. They deserve the top slot.

Corbin and Boyle are playing well and have a good shot to dethrone the Pirates. Central has been battle tested (just like every year) and will hit their stride.

2 dark horses outside the usual suspects are Caldwell County and E'town. I think either of these can get hot(ter) in the playoffs and make a huge run.

Can't wait for the playoffs!!!

I think Boyle might be the best of the bunch right now.

Belfry. Not close...yet

I think Boyle might be the best of the bunch right now.

Sandbagger. :lol2:

Where is the Corbin love?

Where is the Corbin love?

My skepticism lies in how good are they from Home?

Beechwood is a great team but Corbin should have at least won the game IMO. Belfry made quick work of NCC who turned around and beat what some thought was the best team in 2A.

Corbin's playoff path takes them on the road, that's why I can't see them pulling it off.

I think Boyle might be the best of the bunch right now.

I am still waiting to pass judgement on Boyle until they play LexCath.

The Knights have had their number and before I can seriously see Boyle competing for a title I need to see them get over the Catholic hump.

The good news for Boyle is cross-bracketing was kind to them. The Rebels have really struggled to match up with Central in the past few years (Which let's be honest... besides Belfry who has been a good match-up to the Jackets?).

I don't see anyone from that Russell/Fleming District who can take down either the Rebels or Knights.

Etown remains a team I think we all need to keep an eye on.

The Panthers aren't big, but they are VERY experienced and also have that explosive ability on both sides of the ball.

Coach Brown is one of the more underrated coaches in the State IMHO. I have no doubt the Panthers will be playing Defense at a very high level come Novemeber under Brown's watch.

This week is big for Corbin on multiple levels. The Hounds have an incredibly difficult front end of their schedule, but the back end is considerably lighter. After this week Corbin probably should not have another team on their schedule until the Semi-Finals that they won't be a 2-3 TD favorite against. Mayfield is an excellent team and a team Corbin will have to prove they can leave Campbell Field and beat.

As for Belfry, what is scary for 3A is I think Belfry may be a bit ahead of where I expected them to be despite all their graduation losses. This Offense is IMHO still the best Offense in the Class. As long as they hang on to the football I think their Offense is already at a Championship level. The Defense has had their bumps, specifically on the D-Line, but already seem to be showing immediate improvement. Belfry has two high level Offenses left to challenge them in the regular season in Cabell Midland (With two future D-1 Running Backs in my estimation) and Johnson Central. If this Defense can continue to improve Belfry is going to be incredibly difficult to beat. Are they 4 TD's better than 3A like they have been the past two years? No, but if this Defense comes along it will take a nearly flawless effort to beat them.

I am still waiting to pass judgement on Boyle until they play LexCath.

Im with you on this one.....seems like every year Lex Cath comes into district play with a crappy schedule and everyone thinks they are down. Next thing you know they are in the semi finals.

I've got to say Belfry.

I think Boyle might be the best of the bunch right now.

1. You may be on to something.

2. You may be doing your best Lou Holtz.

3. you may be both 1 and 2.
