Beechwood 26 Corbin 10

Final from Ft Mitchell.

Very good win for Beechwood!

Good win for Beechwood. I was not that impressed with Corbin when they scrimmaged Frederick Douglass.

Exactly what the Tigers needed!

Congratulations to Beechwood, nice win!

Man, I had this one wrong. Beechwood football was alive and well in Fort Mitchell tonight!

Nice win Tigers!!! Keep working fellas!!!

WOW! Did not see this one coming.

Very nice win for Beechwood. The Tigers were in control of this game from the start. Five minutes into the game Beechwood led 13-0 and they never looked back. Beechwood's defense was very good all night.

Cameron Hergott was on target. WR Mason Williams had a lot of big catches, including a 52 yard TD catch and run for Beechwood's first score two minutes into the game. RB Cole Stammer had a good night.

Beechwood really needed that win. Next week is Covington Catholic. Just get through that game injury free and then they will be ready to go the rest of the way.

Noel had a great game plan tonight. He knew Corbin’s freshman QB would have to beat them and they decided to take away the run. That was the end of the game pretty quick. The QB for Corbin has a bright future but they will have some growing pains this year. Get the Cov Cath game out of the way for BW and they should finish strong after that.

I was talking to a Corbin parent after the game and he said they lost their starting running back in practice this week, so tough break. They get Bowling Green this week, so that is a tough bounce back game. They are young so Corbin will be back.

Elite coaching from the minute the walked off the field at Somerset to kickoff tonight. Kudos to Rash and his staff for the masterpiece tonight.

Also, Colin Kidd was the injured back I believe. He was the #2 back. Nick Yeager - the big back 18 - came in leading the team in rushing (240 yards on 40 carries) and five touchdowns. Kidd came in with 20 carries for somewhere in the neighborhood of 180 yards. Tough loss for sure, but not a kill shot what with Yeager and Longmire healthy.

Holding that system to 10 points is one heck of a defensive effort.

Beechwood staff planned for and kids executed an excellent gameplan. Never seen coaching this good. Dominating performance from the opening kick. Wow. Congrats BW.

One more player for Beechwood that needs to be recognized. Kicker Colin Graman had two field goals, a 22 yarder and a 35 yarder. More impressive were his kickoffs. They had great height and were coming down inside the 5. Those high kickoffs kept Corbin's dangerous return men Longmire and Steely in check. On 6 kickoff returns, Corbin was only able to get past the 20 yard line 1 time. Beechwood won the field position game all night off their kicking game.
