Twins deal Matt Garza to Rays for Delmon Young

You don't like to spend much of your branch time out near the foliage do you? -

Garza is a nice prospect, but there is just no other reason to trade a phenom like Delmon Young this far away from him getting paid. -

Anyone else think this translates into: Delmon Young is a punk and a clubhouse cancer? -

I'm not. Not even close. -
Fair point, although much like the mulligan people are giving WVU when White went down v. USF, UCLA should be given similar consideration.

I'm confused. In one breath UK fans Rupp to hold 30,000 people and be a massive tribute to UK Nation. Now, in the next breath, UK fans want the cozy, loud, and energized atmosphere of a 9,314 seat arena. The atmosphere at Cameron is AWESOME. No one disagrees. Having the wall of students on the opposite side is very cool, but the sound and intimidation is greatly aided by the fact that it is tiny. It'd be hard to have it both ways. A new arena with luxury suites for the "big money grips" would allow the opportunity to put more students down low. However, if you want that bone-chilling noise you're going to have to dramatically cut down the size of the building...good luck getting anyone to approve less seats. -
If the Reds go 64-98 next year you'll be able to knock me over with a feather. I think that is very unlikely. To recap: I'm VERY happy the Reds are being aggressive in filling their holes and I'm happy that Mr. C & Co. are stretching the pay-roll. I'm not sure this was the ideal way to spend the money, given the contract, it's terms, and it's length, but you can't say they aren't trying. :thumb:

I'm not arguing your points, in general, but UCLA deserves (and will get) a bowl bid. Even losing to USC and falling to 6-6, they deserve a bid. Wins over CAL, BYU, and Oregon get their ticket punched.

I'm happily surprised you brought up the 2nd point before I had a chance to. Very honest of you considering your "tie-in" to the program. :thumb: :thumb:

To play Southern Miss? Yucky... Their season deserved a LOT better than that. A LOT better.

Instead of the people that spend all of the money to support the program and essentially fund the non-revenue sports? Sure...sounds fair. All of those companies that buy spots on the Big Blue Sports Network, they don't deserve good seats do they? -

If it went to a female anchorwoman (along with hundreds of others) less than 15 minutes before the kick-off of a bowl game, do I really need to know what it said? Seriously? -
Redskins Safety Sean Taylor dead

I hate to ask such a silly question in such a serious thread, but your fantasy league lets you draft individual defensive players? Never heard of that. I've read every word I can find on this story...has me wrapped up. Hope and pray the whole story eventually comes out so that his family and friends can have the closure they deserve. -

Man, you're not kidding. Heck, as ridiculous as it sounds, the defense won that Wake game. -

Just to be fair, those weren't rumors, they were phone logs accessed using the Freedom of Information Act. Let's not call them rumors and cause folks to think there is a chance that they were inaccurate. These were "facts" about his personal life. Either way, have fun in Oxford. If he has a winning record over the next 5 years they'll name The Grove after him. -

#1 Missouri vs #9 Oklahoma..Big 12 Championship
h.s.sportsrbest replied to bigblueinsanity's topic in College Football
How bad is this season when the #1 team in America is an under-dog on a neutral field. Silly. Part of me hopes OU drills 'em to under-score how pathetic this system is, on the other hand, part of me hopes Mizzou plays for the National title to horrible ratings to under-score how pathetic this system is. -

...and John Grisham. The point? Are "the Manning's" sacred in your book? I'm reminded by this conversation of all of the folks that said Guy Morriss would turn around Baylor when Mitch "botched" (their word) the contract with him. Umm, how'd that turn out? Me thinks this deal at Ole Miss turns out the same way. With LSU on a roll, Saban at Bama, and Tubbs at Auburn, the West has some mighty big jumps to get over before Ole Miss can even approach respectable again. Good for Houston -- hope he learned from his mistakes. That is really all you can ask for out of a guy, right? -
Again, I don't think this is a big deal, but there is no way I buy the fact that the ex-NBA'er didn't pick up the tab.

I agree it is "definitely a step down" I admit whole-heartedly "he landed a better job than (I) expected him to." Happy? :bunny: -

There is a better chace Mitch Barnhart's brother is the next AD at Nebraska than Turner Gill.
