1. One of the best H.S. games I've ever attended. You felt like, at 39-27, that it was about to be over...and then...as LABS and cshs81 chronicled...it turned. 2. I was sitting on the Holmes side, and their cheers were all positive and pro-Holmes. They were fun, enjoying themselves, and really thrilled to be in the moment. If a couple of them acted foolishly after the game, forgive them. Every school has its people who do dumb things when the emotion runs high. As cshs said, CCH wasn't without a rude cheer of their own. 3. Rice and Henderson were just too much for CCH. Athletically, vertically, from a quickness standpoint...just too much. Arrez' defense on TJ was huge. 4. Redundancy alert: the Luke Maile-era has arrived. Physically strong. Intense. Tough-minded. If he improves his perimeter game a little, which I'm sure he will, he will be a monster match-up for the next two years. As for now, he'll be busy being one of the best 5 or 10 catchers in America in his class. 5. Watching the development and maturation of Duran over the last 4 years has been fun -- I'll miss that. He evolved from a kid that protested every call to a young man that figured out there are better ways to "work the refs," be nice to them. I've really enjoyed the Duran era at Holmes...both the good times and the bad. 6. Austin Hill and Brandon Brown are two young men that I find it impossible not to like and root for. 7. It was hot last night....really hot. 8. Greg Rice making those two free-throws was BIG TIME. HUGE. Tip of the hat to a young man that has been through a lot in his time at Holmes (much of it allegedly self-inflicted) but stepped up when the lights were the brightest. 9. If you can't be happy for Steve Lickert, seeing the Holmes community get excited about a h.s. sporting event last night, then I don't understand you. He has a tough job ahead of him, but you have to love seeing someone that happy about being given the chance to do something special. Red looks good on you Steve. 10. I will miss, as a CCH fan, Kurt's deep threes, Billy's solid play in the post and calming influence on his team-mates, Brandon's defense, grittiness, and basketball IQ, and TJ's all around floor play, unselfishness, and the class with which he handled himself. They have been a great bunch of ambassadors for CCH and for that I thank them. They have bright futures, doing different things, and they will be remembered fondly. They represented themselves, their team-mates, their school, and their families in such a way that I'm sure even non-CCH fans would appreciate them. 11. That game was begging for a CCH zone and it never came....begging. 12. I want to see Holmes play with the maturity and poise that I know they can in Lexington and bring back some hardware with draped nets next week. The drought for the 9th has gone on for far too long.

Who is going tonight and who is planning on watching it from their favorite barcalounger? I'll be in attendance...

I believe it was on #50 and it was for arguing the call. My guess is (knowing not the kid at all) that he may have said a magic word because the "T" was quick and with conviction.

MUCH better football player than basketball player -- but yes, he is a nice basketball player. Had a tough day v. the Middies the other day but they escaped with a squeaker.

Being a Homer for Conner and "hoping" it would turn out that way doesn't make you a seer. :bunny: :ylsuper:

1. Ooh, my bad. They all run together. 2. They were significant underdogs on that day, so while they weren't lacking individual talent, I don't think many expected that outcome. 3. ...another example, I agree. :thumb: Although I believe that team had LaFollette, Kuhn, and that shooter...so they had some nice players as well. Regardless, it seems to be a fairly predictable match-up...and one the Colonels have had a tough time with.

CovCath's worst nightmare...Coach Hicks and the Cougars in the Regional Tourney. I can't help but remember a similar setting, at Holmes, when Chad Wachs was a Senior and Lewin and Co. were Juniors, losing to an under-manned Conner bunch down in Covington. While CovCath is the better team at nearly every position, this one just scares me. Hopefully, CCH comes out intent on the game at hand and puts this one away early. I just don't expect it to happen.

I think CovCath wins this game....however, the potential game next week makes me REALLY nervous.

Congratulations to a great guy and a super young coach. As was mentioned above, Holmes got a perfect hire for them. Steve has an uphill job, but I know he is going into this job with both eyes open and is ready and able to meet the challenge head-on. Congrats Coach -- I'll be rooting for you every week but one.

Ft. Mitchell Country Club is a very nice 9 hole golf course.
