  1. As I mentioned a month or so ago the Reds are and have been actively trying to trade either Votto or Hamilton. This isn't new. Obviously, if they can unload either Freel or Junior it is a win. I would think if either happens they'll be stuck with part of that contract.
  2. Refresher: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/magazine/01/05/rose_excerpts/index.html
  3. Leo, I'm not sure if you are being intentionally forgetful or just were out of the Country for a decade, but Rose admitted to betting on Baseball when his book came out and he did his come-clean interview. You know, when he was broke and needed money so he wrote a book.
  4. No. Not even close. He (perhaps) was able to hit a baseball 10% further with the "cream" and the "clear". Did Gaylord Perry's spitter affect the game? Did Phil Neikro's nail-file? Did Sammy and Sabo's corked bat? I would put those events in the same file cabinet as Bonds' strength enhancers. It truly isn't close to gambling on your sport. Look at the reaction to Donaghy's case this summer in the NBA. You think you'd get that type of universal fear and panic if you found out Shaq was on "the juice"? Me neither.
  5. I spoke to a friend of mine in the Lexington Area today (older gentleman, long-time UK fan / supporter / booster) and he told me that Gillispie has polarized the hard-core fans in Lexington more in his short tenure than even Tubby did at the lowest points. Given the divide between those pro-Tubby and anti-Tubby, that says a lot. Again, that is only one man's opinion. He is neither a banker nor a regular sleeper at Holiday Inn Express.
  6. I've never been to TCP so I can't speak to the level of pandemonium over there that night. However, I can tell you that two days later most of those beside themselves had the game in it's proper context. Right? Also, if a UK fan had come on that night (or the next morning) and likened that game (vs. G-Webb) to a sneak attack at Pearl Harbor or in NYC nearly everyone on this board would have jumped up and hammered that person. You agree? This was a Pro, two days later, making a ridiculous analogy about a College Football game. What is he going to compare a loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl to? Chernobyl? Three Mile Island? The guy needs to knock off the analogies until he can better express himself. This Country is at war and speaking of football games as "catastrophes" is short-sighted in my opinion.
  7. Pete Rose knowingly broke the only rule posted in Clubhouses that will get you a life-time ban. Barry Bonds broke a rule that was so over-looked they didn't even bother to punish people for it up until the last few years. While Barry is the popular answer there really is no choice: Pete Rose. Gambling in Pro Sports (or College) saps away any and all integrity and calls into question game outcomes. Barry Bonds tried to get stronger by any means necessary. I can't believe anyone, with any objectivity at all, could say Bonds was the bigger Villain.
  8. Lord, I need to start a lits of all the false assumptions about me that have been perpetuated on or through this site. This would be #2 on the list, behind "I wear pink shirts" everyday.
  9. Thanks. That was the original picture I had that I couldn't get out of bitmap. What a beauty...eh?
  10. The 2 DUI's aren't a rumor. I'm a UK fan, have been long enough to remember Macy transferring from Purdue and The Twin Towers being a front-court and not a horrible tragedy. That being said, UK fans drilling other coaches for getting A DUI but ignoring a guy with 2 because he can get good 18 year olds to come to Lexington is hypocrisy at its finest. No rumor. No innuendo no witch hunt. Facts -- even Joe Friday would be okay with that.
  11. Bottom-line: UK panicked, hired a guy that could recruit (because that was knock on OTS), and are stuck with a guy with questionable (at best) character. Keep in mind, many UK fans on this site HAMMERED Huggins when he got his 1 DUI and threw around all sorts of platitudes and niceities about being a leader of men. However, UK went out and hired a guy with 2 DUI's and equal or worse off the court issues, and many UK fans want to defend him. As I said in another thread, his off-the-court issues will catch up with him and it will lead to a very bitter and ugly Divorce from UK. Bet on that. While this fan base wants great recruiting classes and Final Fours, they also want someone to represent them well -- that ain't this guy; or at least it doesn't appear that he is.
  12. Is this trend new? When OJ and Bill were there I never saw them referred to as "Hill". Now it's in a thread title...just wondering what I missed.
  13. Realizing I'm celestially un-hip, I have to ask: when did Rose Hill become just "Hill"?
  14. The first thing I thought of was "My Cousin Vinny".
  15. Unfunny and untrue, all wrapped into one. If you knew me very well you'd know that I almost never have my suit coat on outside of weddings and funerals. I also don't own a blue suit with yellow pinstripes...thankfully. As far as a sophomoric rhetort about your wardrobe...well that would just be too easy and mean. I'll pass...
  16. Agreed. I just think it is unfair to hang this game on lack of quality players when we both know they had plenty of "Bobby's and Joe's" to win that game on Saturday...at home. That is all I'm saying.
  17. 1. I'll take Lone Oak by 10 - 14. 2. Slight detour through Aurora and hit the Brass Lantern. 3. N. Bullitt folks, stay at Barkley Lodge and enjoy the breakfast buffet before heading back north to Shepherdsville. Should be a good game....
