I've long been a fan of Steve's, both as a coach and as a person. Holmes could do a LOT worse than to have this energetic young coach at the helm of their program. I know that Steve recognizes the challenges that would come with the job, and I know that he is more than up to the challenge.

Brown on Hester, when Brandon is in the game, will be a fun match-up to keep an eye on.

I like the Saddle Club, and while not a drinker, have been there on numerous occasions. Wasn't insulting them at all. There very well could be a reason that Mike continues not to get the jobs he pursues (Campbell Co., Ryle, CovCath twice)...that is all I was saying. Mike is a nice guy, and by all accounts, a very good h.s. coach. I'm simply saying before you start painting everyone with your labels, understand that there could be more to the story.

May I politely suggest that before you go painting your alma mater (and mine) into the role of Benedict Arnold, you dig a little deeper than your cronies' opinion sitting around the Saddle Club? Let's assume that if Mike didn't get the job and Dave did that there are probably good reasons for it....how about giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Until the finals...yes. If CCH and Holmes meet in the final it'd be fairly close to 50 / 50 (if not even moreso CCH) so that advantage would be negated. But sure, in general, it always has to be a little bit of an edge being on a floor you're so familiar with.

Oldbird, you have a style about you that I really enjoy. With that preface, the question couldn't have been good. As to the question, given its current state of academic unrest, and considering some football issues as well, I'd say it's the "least attractive" of the big schools. At least in my opinion.

I know of two young coaches in this area that have pursued other jobs that were available that aren't going near this one. Sad for the kids at Holmes; it really is. I hope HHS is able to find the right guy for the job and he is able to succeed where others couldn't. However, as many have pointed out, this is a nightmarish situation to be sure.
