Diogenes
What do you think? Not just from your school, but for the entire state. Vote with your head, not with your heart. A couple for consideration: Sherman Lewis-Legendary running back for the legendary 1959 Manual team. Later was a star at Michigan State and played in the NFL. Al Baker-Trigg County all-stater; holds the 100 meter state record (A) at 10.70.

Ram
Linear speed - I would have to say Al Baker, he holds the state record Football speed - I would have to say J.J. Bailey from Pikeville(around 1990), the fastest human I have seen in a football game.
CentreRocks
Chris Dishman and Tony Driver jump to mind... Tony wasn't even the fastetst on his team. That goes to Rashad Holman.
Son of Bear
Tyson Gay played at Lafayette around 99-00 and is currently an Olympic sprinter.
The Scribe
What's impressive about Al Baker is that he ran a 10.7 while packing 225 pounds. One of the best combos of size and speed I've ever seen play in high school. Redd from Bardstown in the early 1990s comes to mind in the speed category as does Randy Wyatt (Tilghman) and Craig Yeast (Harrodsburg)
pirategurl
David Jones ran the 40 in the low 4's. Sorry I couldn't help myself, lol.:fire:
cometscoach
Fastest player I ever saw was Anthony Boggs from Nelson Co in 1996 the last time a 4A team from out in the state won championship
westsider
Redd from Bardstown in the early 1990s comes to mind in the speed category as does Randy Wyatt (Tilghman) and Craig Yeast (Harrodsburg)Donnie Redd played at Danville, but I agree with your choices ... they might be the three fastest I've seen. stickymitts
Who was the receiver from Hoptown in the 96 finals? My man had a gear that no one else did...
westsider
Miguel Merritt, maybe? He ended up as a safety at Alabama.
stickymitts
Miguel Merritt, maybe? He ended up as a safety at Alabama. Pretty good basketball player?
westsider
I don't remember Merritt as a basketball player. The other receiver I remember was Shawn Oglesby, a 6-5 athlete ... he was a good basketball player. He played some college ball after some off-the-field problems, but I don't know where he ended up. tcjkbt
Jim Green, of Eminence, I believe, was a world-class sprinter in the 60s and 70s. I think he played football in high school. He went to UK.
