Why should two teams with 400 - 500 boys be expected to compete with teams with 3 times that many kids? That is ludicrous.

Yeah, if CCH and Highlands don't play up 2 and 3 levels than they're ducking good teams. That's the ticket.

Who are the best FROSH in the 9th this year? The only one I'm aware of (I don't follow girls FROSH at all, admittedly) is Katie Ammerman of NDA. I know how good she is, but who else is really strong in that class up here.

I know that Ryan has been to 2 or 3 games, and I know that he very much wants to be there for those young men he's worked with for the last few years. However, as you intimated to, I'm sure it's hard for Ryan. Dick has blood in the game, and I'm sure wild horses wouldn't keep him away.

Huh? Sorry I have family in town or I would have been on to respond sooner. I am anything but apathetic about CCH sports. Am I showing a lack of passion for my opinion? If so, I need to be more clear. What does the fact that the crowds have been down say to you? That football season has everyone feeling euphoric and they haven't come back down to Earth yet? That there is a faction of people who are disappointed in the actions of the Head Coach and are willing to stand on principle to express their frustration? Are they wrong? I don't think any of the people that are staying away from games right now (and obviously I can't speak for all of them) wish anything for the boys but the best, and hopefully those young men can experience another trip to Rupp for the Sweet 16. If you choose to support all that Mike does, hats off to you. I don't. I'm not bashing the Refs (trite) nor St. Xavier (probably the finest high school in 100 mile radius), I'm just going out on a limb and questioning the coaching and teaching that occurred in those 4 time-outs down the stretch. There is no longer a chance for Mike to bounce things off of two very knowledgable folks who frequently had varied opinions. I think that's a shame. Again, however, you're right that I should just let it go. To that end I completely agree with you.

Apathy? The definition: absence or suppression of passion, emotion, or excitement. I'm fairly sure this conversation / debate is exactly the OPPPOSITE of apathy. I think Mike is a wonderful person -- top notch. That isn't the question. Believe me, I wish nothing more for these boys than great success. I know many of them personally and they have no question whether or not I'm in their corner. I'm sure you are a very intelligent business man so this concept should make perfect sense to you: surround yourself with great people whose strengths balance you out, not folks that are exactly like you. That's not the case anymore. However, you're right, Dick and Ryan aren't coming back and that's a shame. I agree 100% with you about what kind of monster you'd have if you could put the heart / effort of Schult or Grimes into Brennan. :thumb:

I'm a big fan of Billy Schult, but the above statement is crazy. The starting 5 when they went to the State Final 4 was miles beyond this one. Unless you think that was a "LONG" time ago. C.S.85 we clearly disagree about Coach Listerman, and that's fine. However, there is no way that you or anyone else can convince me that CCH loses that game, in that fashion, with Dick and Ryan on the bench still. Won't happen.

Just to be fair, the difference is Ammons could make an impact at multiple positions, including QB, where as Nick would be very limited as to the positions he could impact at that level.

I'd like to take a moment and not only offer a hearty Congratulations to Coach Matney, but also to his coaching staff. You don't move a program the miles that they've moved theirs on the back of just one man -- it takes a great staff. While Coach Matney gets the credit for this award (which he ABSOLUTELY deserves), I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you he never could have done it alone. Having had the chance to meet this man, and spend a good deal of time with him, I can tell you he is as cordial and polite in person as he is focused on the field. Congrats Coach Matney...well deserved.

When I shattered my arm (4 operations ago) I went into walking shock (felt no pain, tried to keep playing, etc.) -- I don't think it's too uncommon with bad breaks. Good luck to young Jordan. :thumb:
