Congratulations. It's obvious that the JC football program is light years ahead of where it was just a few short years ago.

Congrats Coach Matney. You've deserved it. This program has come so far since the arrival of Matney in such a short time. 5-25 the three years before the arrival of Matney and 28-7 since his arrival 3 years ago. I imagine things couldnt be better in the Matney house. Lets see if this thread fills up as quickly with Congrats to Coach Matney as it did when ppl where standing in line to slander him over rumors.:thumb:

What rumors? Didn't he have some silly remarks after his loss to CovCath? Did that turn out to be untrue?

BTW, congrats to Coach Matney on a job well done.

It is great to see Coach Matney get the recognition he deserve for the coaching job he has done over the last 3 years. Going from 5-25 to 28-7 and taking a program with only one playoff win all time to the semifinals of the Class AAA championships in 3 short years is nothing short of amazing.

No coach deserves this award more than you, Coach Matney. Congratulations to you, your coaching staff, your players, boosters and anyone who has contributed to this tremendous turnaround in the JC program.

JC..that's antagonistic; kinda like placing candy in a kid's hand and telling him not to eat it...unnecessary.

Anyway, I just wanted to congratulate the coach. Only time I got to see them was at the CC game. They were just as billed: very well coached, efficient, and extremely hard hitting bunch! Wish only the best for the future!

I'd like to take a moment and not only offer a hearty Congratulations to Coach Matney, but also to his coaching staff. You don't move a program the miles that they've moved theirs on the back of just one man -- it takes a great staff. While Coach Matney gets the credit for this award (which he ABSOLUTELY deserves), I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you he never could have done it alone.

Having had the chance to meet this man, and spend a good deal of time with him, I can tell you he is as cordial and polite in person as he is focused on the field.

Congrats Coach Matney...well deserved.

Congrats to Coach Matney on his award. Congrats to the whole Johnson Central program from top to bottom. From the administration right down to the fans. What a year to remember for the JC program and we are expecting big things in the years to come. Again, thank you Coach Matney and congrats to you.

A year to remember indeed. Congratulations
