  1. I just got back in from seeing this movie. It was great. I never laughed so hard in my life.:thumb::thumb:
  2. My thoughts and Prayers are with the Meenach Family.
  3. I'm with you Swamprat. This time of year is great with the College World Series just around the corner but nothing compares to College Football.
  4. My thoughts and Prayers go out to you and your family.
  5. In my younger days the answer would be yes. Things have since changed but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.
  6. Happy Birthday!! I hope your day is a great one.:thumb:
  7. I would like to smack Conan in the teeth. Can't stand the guy. Maybe it's the hair!!!!::idunno:

  10. You are 100% right Oldrambler. I thought I was going to go crazy yesterday. It was a bluebird morning. I sat around all day thinking about how many boss gobbler encounters my fellow hunters were having and how much fun I was missing. I'll enjoy this season through their stories while I practice calling until next seasons opener. Also, the way you throw a spinnerbait I'm sure an old "boss gobbler" would be interested!!
  11. Except for bagging ol' three toes, there is nothing more exciting than going head to head with the old boss hen. Hopefully, the next encounter will bring different results for your young hunter. :thumb:
  12. I have said many times that John Scott is one of the best hitters in the state. He can flat out hit a baseball. I would like to see him get a chance to play baseball while at Georgetown. However, it is tough to be a two sport athlete at the college level.
  13. Thanks for the reminder Oldrambler. Country music is also my favorite so I will be watching.
  14. Coop. The deck would be like the ultimate treestand as you mentioned but most do not hunt turkey from a treestand. I would suggest that if you allow your son to hunt there are a couple of questions that you think about.... 1. Is he familiar with the weapon he will use and does he understand the importance of gun safety. 2. Do you know and understand all the game laws that are in place during turkey season. 3. Am I teaching him the ethical and proper way to become a hunter. I personally would not allow him to hunt from the deck. I'm not telling you what you should or should not do but it is in my opinion not the proper way to teach him about the great sport of turkey hunting or the values and responsibilities that come with being a hunter. The most important thing to remember is that this will be your sons first hunt so it is very important to make it one he will remember for a lifetime. To me the killing of a turkey is not the most important factor. Some of my most memorable hunts are ones where I didn't see or hear a turkey. If done the right way, spending time in God's great outdoors and sharing a hunt with family and friends will be something you and your son can remember for a lifetime. Whatever you decide to do. remember to hunt safely and follow all game laws. If you have any question just PM me and I will be more than glad to try and answer them if I can.:thumb: Hunt Safe!!!
  15. I'm not sure if I will get to hunt this turkey season due to having knee surgery but I had the highlight of my season tonight. I was visited tonight by Spindoc's son who was accompanied by his grandad whom is a longtime friend of mine. Young spindoc brought me one of my favorite turkey calls. I sat and talked turkey with this young hunter and had the chance to hear him run a turkey call. Let me tell you he is one of the best callers I have heard. Not only is he proficient with a turkey call but I was amazed at his ability to call with is natural voice. The kid is a natural and it is evident that he has a passion for the great sport of turkey hunting. He has what I refer to as "Turkey Fever" and it makes me feel good knowing that the turkey hunting tradition has been passed on. Hats off to you spindoc for a job well done. Not only is he hooked on hunting but he was one of the most polite and respectful youngsters that I have ever met. Thanks young man for making my day complete and I hope you bag the biggest Ol' Three Toes of your young hunting career.:thumb:
  16. Congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of your son. I'm glad everything turned out fine. That is a beautiful baby. Thank goodness he got his looks from momma. I see a new hunting partner in the near future.:thumb:
  17. Thanks Oldrambler, now I have to buy a larger size hat.
  18. :thumb: Next week should be even better. Stitches come out next Thursday.
