2009 Kentucky State Weight Meet - Raceland 1A State Champions

Raceland won the 1A state Championship today at the State Weight Meet. Raceland finished in 16th place overall - regardless of class.

 

Robbie Logan was 5th place in his weight class

Brett Denton was 6th place in his weight class

There was a little doubt, I always worry. But, from what I have heard so far, Raceland had a good showing, and Took Care of Business.:clap:

We beat St. X in points at the meet.

We beat St. X in points at the meet.

It was nice to see St. X actually participate this year. Unfortunately they didn't fair to well and their team left before the awards were given out. They didn't have a single kid place in the top 6 in any weight class.

I believe a state record was broken in the dead lift by a Trigg County player, 700 pounds and a bench press record for a Trinity player at 425 pounds.

Coach Maynard watched a 135 pound kid dead lift 520 pounds!!! He said there were some "freaks" lifting Saturday.

Trigg County won the overall title for the third straight year. Timmy McGee deadlifted 700 pounds, the first lifter to ever do this at the state meet

There were 25 schools that participated and 429 lifters. It is welcome to every school.
