1986 doesn't seem as long ago as it actually is.........am I really 41??!!!! I still think I can lift with these boys. I have been giving a few of the Raceland lifters a hard time because I can rep with their max from the meet. They don't believe it until I show them.:eek:

We, too, had atleast 2 lifts that were DQ'd for no apparent reason. There are 3 lights and you have to have 2 green lights for it to be a clean lift. I am not sure how the judges are trained, but it seemed to be fair and consistent throughout the competition. Questionable, yes, but fair.

I was there and question the results when kids are getting DQued by parents that are recruited out of the stands to act as judges. What qualifies them to be judges? However Trigg won. Congratulations to them. Trinity although they did not win overall had more 1st place winners and walked away with class. They will now prepare for their Fourth National title in Oklahoma City over Spring break. Good Luck Rocks!

Raceland won the 1A state Championship today at the State Weight Meet. Raceland finished in 16th place overall - regardless of class.

 

Robbie Logan was 5th place in his weight class

Brett Denton was 6th place in his weight class

It will only be a matter of time until we see the rams playing for a state title. They have many of the ingredients already in place. If they could catch a little luck down the stretch then it is possible.:thumb:

Being from Lawrence County I'm always amazed by the consistent ability of such a small school to turn out great athletes. Raceland has always been able to deliver quality athletic teams in everything from track and cross country to football and weight lifting. I think that is a testament to their faculty, coaching staff and fan base. Congratulations even though I can't say I'm surprised!

Thanks, Jude. My daughter has been at Raceland for five years now. She is a Freshman this year and plays Volleyball. I have been affiliated with the sports program for 3 years and my personal experience as a parent and as the team doctor is one of amazement. The entire community envelopes these kids as their own. Now, there are rumblings and disagreements but everyone comes together for the common good and that is the kids. I am proud of what this little 1A school puts out on the field/floor. The kids all practice hard and want to do well. When you get get the kids, school faculty, administration and the community to all buy into what you are doing, it makes for a great situation. Thanks for the complements jude, Raceland and Lawrence County has always had a very good relationship and had some great football games against each other. I wish we could get that game back on the schedule.

 

Good luck to your Lawrence County this year. I know they are working on getting things back to where they should be. I always follow that program and look forward to seeing them improve this season.
