Much better than NKYboy is letting on. Ryan is a proud man, no question, but he isn't going to let his pride get in the way if he can come back and be a resource for those kids. He was never in it for the money, he is truly in it for the kids. I think the bigger question is what are the chances that Mike swallows his pride and actually has the stomach to ask Ryan to come back. I think that is the much slimmer odds. My guess is if Mike asks, after much soul-searching, Ryan would say yes. Ryan being the bigger man makes a lot of sense to me.

Me, for one. Won't happen.

Sounds about right...and yes, I'd expect a guy that hasn't won in 5 years to have to earn his way into the Open.

I didn't go through the list line by line, but yes, he'd qualify I guess (has he won in '06 or '07?). He was on the last Ryder Cup team, I get that, but I can't recall his last win. However, yes, he is a name that would surprise me to see in qualifying status.

I can't believe guys with wins in the last couple of years (notably Scott Verplank and JB) have to qualify for the Open. Seems like a PGA Tour win should get you an invite.

I love Traditions. Triple Crown is nice. A course that hasn't been mentioned that for some reason I really like is Hurstbourne CC in Louisville. Of course, I'm also contractually obligated to mention that I'm a big fan of Maysville CC.

The older I get the more ambivalent I become about HHS. Therefore, if they aren't playing CovCath, I typically am okay with them winning. If they are playing an Ohio team, I'm definitely pulling for HHS. In the state playoffs I typically root for the other team because the separation in State Titles is already big enough.

Is there any way they don't go 6-4?

Nice; really nice. They have some different 9's, but the "main" course starts out on a reachable par 5 with bunkers in the landing area and an uphill 2nd that slightly dogs to the right. Manicured to the nines. Greens are great; but I'm not sure what kind of shape they'll be in after all of this fickle weather. You'll have a great time. Number 9 (par 4, drive over water and 2nd to a peninsula surrounded by water) is a GREAT golf hole.

I predict HHS beats CCH in the regular season by 17+ and wins their Umpteenth State Title. Actually, that prediction isn't all that bold.
