I know a lot of people have never been on a private course, so its tough to give an opinion. I'm sure some out there have been able to get on a private course or are members at one. If you dont fall into either, but know a little bit about some around you, lets hear what you have to say. I know Louisville has a ton of privates, Lex. area has some as well, and NKY will have some as well. The rest of the state they are few and far between.

Can't speak from personal experience, but I would think that Valhalla would be #1. I'm hoping to get to see it during the Ryder Cup in 2008.

One would think, but I've heard from a few people they think Lake Forest in Louisville is better. Also, Olde Stone out in WKY is a new one that is supposed to give Valhalla a run for its money and is looking to get a tour stop.

I read that Jack is making Valhalla a little bit tougher, probably because of the Ryder CUp in 08 and to return the challenge to these other courses! One interesting change was he made one par 4 over 500 yrds!

He will have to in order to match Olde Stone. I have heard it is an amazing facility that is easily ahead of Valhalla.

Triple Crown and Traditions are great private courses. Tough to get on, but in great condition and both are great layouts. Triple Crown is tough, but could be made alot tougher, most of the members do not like to see the course play that tricky.

Are you kidding me? It is a "nice" course but it would be blasphemous to mention this course in the same breath as Valhalla and the others previously mentioned.

 

I have played Valhalla a few times and have to say it is always a pleasant experience. Most fun ever was a 39 on the front after a triple bogey at one. Struggled on the back but finished the day with a respectable 82.

BLASPHEMOUS I think not! Have you played Bellefonte in the last year? It was redone. When I played there last fall, I was impressed. I had just gotten back from playing at The Greenbriar in WVa. I still think Bellefonte is a beautiful course and very challenging. Valhalla is nice and impressive - not saying it isn't but unless you've played Bellefonte in the last year IMO you really need to check it out then tell me its blasphemous to put it in as one of the best private courses in Ky.
