Be prepared to shell out the big bucks to play this course!! My father just built on the tie off of the 9th hole and even as a quest of a member the fees are pretty hefty!!

 

Dad played golf for the Univ of Illinois back in the day and he says this is one of the hardest courses he's ever golfed.

I'm sure thats the case. I should have my apprentice card pretty soon hopefully, so maybe that can bring down the price and I can get out there and play it.

Played Arlington in Richmond today. Not a bad course. It's short, but with plenty of trees and some very undulating greens. Lots of uneven lies, which I dont believe you should have that often in the fairways, but thats the way it is. Like I said though, not a bad course, good condition, okay design.

Arlington has some good holes on it, but it's got some REALLY bad ones too. Like #3. I can remember one time in EKU's tournament there that I hit driver, 3-wood into #8 (long par 4) and was still about 20 yards short! :creepy:

Greens were always really good.

#8 is definitely a tough one. I do believe it was the number 1 handicap hole. Long, tree lined fairway. You dont want to miss the fairway, but you want to be out there too. Tough decision off the tee.

I think it is better than Champions. No houses to hit around at Idle Hour and it was redesigned two summer ago. New tees and some new greens.

Lexington Country Club and Idle Hour Country Club in Lexington reek golf country club atmosphere. Both are very exclusive.

 

Champions just outside of Lexington is a tougher test of golf and a nicer golf course, in my opinion.

I have yet to go down there, but I have heard nothing but great things about it. If you have the opportunity definitely go down. You would do well to hit up any of the courses on the State Park Golf Trail. All are great courses.

Yes they do. I have heard Idle Hour is super exclusive. Someone told me if you werent top level management over there and you work there, you still cant play the course. I heard their assistant pro's arent even allowed to play the course.

Played it last week and it is in great shape considering the freeze from 2 weeks ago.I think it was 37.00 for a cart and 18.They were moving into the new club house and out of the trailor on Wednesday.:ylsuper: Also played Houston Oaks in Paris and that was really nice.

Houston Oaks is one of the best deals around. They have lousy manners in the club house, but it is a very nice course at a good price.

Beautiful golf course. A big thumbs up from me. They have zoysia fairways, which were sodded in at great expense (from what I hear) when it was developed. It's part of the state park system's signature golf courses. It is well worth the play, but it took us 3 hours to get there from Owsley County. But...it was still worth it:thumb: .

I played it today, it was my third time. It is an excellent, well manicured public course. Every hole has breathtaking views. The zoysia fairways are awesome. I agree with the Prof that it is a haul (1:45 from London), but it is worth every second of the drive. :thumb:

Was supposed to play it the other day and got rained out. Looks very nice and they only have around 95 members. Danny McQueen is who built it and I enjoy playing his courses.

JaHearMe, how often do you play Big Blue at The University Club? I really enjoy that course.
