If there is a game that Coach Edge would like to win, it would be this one. I can't put my finger on it, but something tells me that Coach Edge and the Eagles find a way to win this game. Who knows it maybe another OT game.

While we are on the topic of state tournament venues, softball should have never been taken out of Owensboro, and should never be single elimination.

Don't get me wrong that was a big win for O'boro, but don't fool yourself, this is not a typical St. X team. As a matter of fact, this St. X team will probably not have a winning record this season I'd not be surprised to see them 1-5 by the midseason mark. Kinda like OC win at BG last year, good win but by the end of the season, we found out it was not a typical BG team.

Jack Pyburn has signed a contract with Tampa as a undrafted free agent and now is suing the NCAA to go back to college football, along with 16 other individuals. What are your thoughts on this? I have a few but want to see if I'm thinking in the wrong vein.

I for one, and I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I hate topics like this, just like I hate all of the preseason Heisman talk. Who knows that what a kid may come out of nowhere and have a season of a lifetime, but with all the talk going on we have eliminated 99% of the rest of the players in the state. It becomes a popularity contest, instead of the best player in the state and not the best player on the best team in the state. I know, I'm in the minority, so I'll simply move to the back of the room with my popcorn and all the discussion to continue.

I think for the most part all of us on this forum have a consensus agreement that this is wrong on so many levels; however, here is the question that I think has to be answered. Since the NCAA's ruling was overturned in the court system, what can now save what is left of college sports? We all know our judicial system is broken, and this ruling today further proves that point. I do know the Commissioner of the Big XII is having meeting with those in the Big XII for the possibility of punishing Texas Tech, if they play him in any games, now what that looks like I have no frame of reference. In my mind, enough is enough. I mean this kept the baseball all-time hits leader from the HOF, but yet we are going to allow a kid to play this year. It's just wrong.

Just a thought here, with all that Mr. Riherds has done for the KHSAA and high school sports, it would be nice to see him inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame, so that he could receive the due recognition. In my opinion, that would be an honorable thing to do!

I was reading an article where Curt Cignetti was being interview and he was sounding an alarm about the current state of college football. He was casting doubt of the long-term viability of the NIL market. He was not against players being paid, but that the long-term viability at the current rate, that Universities will not be able to financially survive. The 12-team CFP field last year along posted a combine $721 million in operating expenses. Which is over a 20% increase from the year prior. If it goes up another 20% then the universities are 2 1/2 years away from having an NIL budget that's more than the TV revenue for all the universities. Then it will be to late to have serious questions about how that gets funded. Which leads me to this, what do you think needs to be done to level the playing field for the CFP moving forward? Thoughts?

In the 3rd Region, Catholic has turf infield, while Apollo, Daviess County and Owensboro have complete turf fields.
