I can’t say the exact phrase that I uttered when I read this but to distill it on Tackett, it was “FINALLY”. Overstayed his welcome. So long to the “adult in the room”.

The next commissioner will be someone currently on staff. Bilberry or Abby Jackson.

You guys are too kind!

Coach Smith & I have a mini episode coming out soon to thank Julian for his service, his impact on KY HS Football, and some thoughts moving forward. I will be curious to hear feedback on our perspective.

Appreciate the BG Preps community and have done so for 20 plus years. Is it just me, or does @theguru give off our favorite uncle vibe? 😎

Commissioner of a large organization such as the KHSAA is a tough, thankless job. Tackett has done very well in his tenure. He is not perfect, and I am sure every one of us has disagreed with one decision or another. But I believe he has made decisions that he believes have been in the best interest of Kentucky high school sports. In a job such as that, disagreement comes with the territory.

He will be tough to replace.

Job well done, Commish!

On the scoreboard, all of us are "beta testers" and it is clearly not a finished product. I don't like it, it is a negative that lands at the Comish's feet, but I definitely don't judge Commissioner Tackett's career on this one issue.

To DF, more often than not I thought Commissioner Tackett was the adult in the room and it was usually the schools (not Independents or Privates) that were the ones acting like children. We want this, we wanna change that, we want to expand this, we want to punish them, and on and on and on...

This is how I feel about Commissioner Tackett, not perfect, but pretty good most of the time.

I was probably too critical. He’s ultimately done a good job. But I still think things in Lexington have been stale for a few years - they’ve coasted by without any innovation or improvement. Eventually everyone needs to leave their jobs, and most of us don’t leave soon enough. I’m anxious to see the steps the KHSAA takes going forward.

Allowing six classes for 223 teams, restricting football activities while allowing every other sports to run year around. And, don't give me "the schools did this" excuse. He's the comish and he has to take credit, good or bad.

I am sure there were multiple reasons - but the FB State Games should have never been moved away from WKU.

That was a great venue.
