Counter-argument: their 74 years of combined experience couldn’t figure out how to get the new scoreboard to work efficiently when they had over a year to do it. New blood has been needed for a bit up

I can’t say the exact phrase that I uttered when I read this but to distill it on Tackett, it was “FINALLY”. Overstayed his welcome. So long to the “adult in the room”.

Commissioner of a large organization such as the KHSAA is a tough, thankless job. Tackett has done very well in his tenure. He is not perfect, and I am sure every one of us has disagreed with one de

I agree it should never be single elimination! However, I attended the state tournament in Owensboro many times and was always blown away with how below average of a venue Jack C. Fisher park was. I will add that it has been 12 years since I have been to that park, so things could be better now.

I'm not sure what it was like 12 years ago, but I have attended the All A softball state tournament at Jack Fisher Park the last few years and it has been a really good venue. turf infields/grass outfields. It has been a well run tournament, but that could be a factor of who is in charge.

Allowing six classes for 223 teams, restricting football activities while allowing every other sports to run year around. And, don't give me "the schools did this" excuse. He's the comish and he has to take credit, good or bad.

The whole no football in June, while all other sports can continue to do things as normal is a joke. Quite honestly Tackett messed up coming out last year saying how teams can't even use helmets in June, as teams in KY had accepted overall that they couldn't do 7 on 7s against other teams in June, even though all border states do. Now that Tackett has enforced the no even helmets in June, he is setting the new commissioner up to get all kinds of push back on things, because it is ridiculous how football really can't do anything in June now.

I have no issue with the 6 classes. I do think they should have continued to look at how to improve things though once they went to 6 classes. Especially once they started using a rating system like the RPI. Which with it being 6 classes, and now them using the rpi starting in round 2 of the playoffs next year. There really is no reason not to just use the rpi for the whole playoffs now, and get rid of districts completely. As there are some matchups of teams being forced to play because of being in the same district that really have no benefit to either team. Keep 6 classes, use rpi or some kind of rating system for the whole playoffs, and get rid of districts.
