2026 Mr. Football: Off-Season Discussion

Featured Replies

What do we think about the top contenders for the state's crowning individual honor in 2026?

Some players check all the boxes - Seneca Driver, Zane Johnson, JaHyde Brown, Tyler Fryman, and Dremail Carothers, to name a few. Those are probably your favorites.

Several others will battle it out for a seat at the table - Dakari Talbert, Tayden Lorenzen, Kade Goodin, Timmy Emongo, and Kasen Brock, among them.

Who are some other names worthy of keeping tabs on?

Give me Seneca Driver. Unreal force on O and D. Also punts. Nothing the young man can’t do.

Driver is as well which I think plays in his favor for the race. 67 tackles, 5 INTs with 2 returned for TDs, 10 TFLs, and 3 sacks. All playing LB for the first time.

Fryman or Lorenzen get my votes!

This is a really good start. When we do Mr. Football on our podcast, you are the guy I go to and you are always on target! ?

I know offensive lineman usually don't get any love in the Mr. Football race but could Brady Hull sneak in there on the list?

Still the best 2!

Fryman’s offensive play wasn’t even utilized compared to any other player considered in this discussion.

Hopefully he’s given a bigger opportunity todo more in 2026.  His ceiling is very high.

More important to the Fort Mitchell community, he’s even better person than he is a football player, baseball player or a track athlete.

In Northern KY, yes.

I’d throw Garyon Hobbs in there.  He’ll see more reps at RB this year and not just on defense at safety, which will help get him into the discussion.

Should be Driver or Brown from CAL.

Tough to pick from this highly talented group. 247 Sports composite ratings have Seneca Driver #1 in the State.

I'd put my hat in for either Ja'Hyde Brown or Tyler Fryman.  From what I saw of them last year in person, they are incredible athletes that can change the outcome of a game all on their own.  I think Zane Johnson/Seneca Driver are both up there as well for me, but it's more from what I hear or saw on film rather than what I saw in person.  Brown and Fryman can take the ball and make some magic happen.

Brown against Ryle was just a dazzling show of skill:

8 receptions for 153 yds (19.1 per rec)

1 KO ret for TD

Fryman in Beechwood's worst game against their toughest opponent (CovCath) had:

6 carries for 44 yds (7.3 per carry)

6 receptions for 104 yds (17.3 per rec) 1 TD

7 tackles, 1 FF, 1 FR

To be able to control a game from a position other than QB is a statement of talent and is tough to overlook.  Either one can take a punt/KO for a TD at a moments notice.  I would almost give the advantage to Fryman for what he adds on the defensive side as well.  Just my 2 cents.
