Congrats to all the hard ballin' Breds and continued success in the state tourney! ...and my deepest sympathies and prayers to CovCath's Jack Grosser and family. It puts a real perspective on all of sports when tragedies strike.

I agree to a point with you Q...I believe you can hone B-ball skills while still prepping for football. all you need is a ball, a hoop, and desire. The REAL difference is that EVERY FB game matters, Hoops is all just practice until March rolls around! Everyone should be ready by March. Ya just gotta set expectations accordingly.

If that was the entire frosh team running around in the north end of DCM yesterday afternoon, then I'd say they have about 30 or so...with some pretty big boys...but not near as big or as many bigs as last year's frosh.

Another "Ft. Thomas boy" done good! Big Oak was 6'8" or 9" and could step out and drain it. Would have probably played at a higher college level had he gone to a school with more exposure...and gotten the extra playing eligibility. (CovLatin kids skip grades 7 & 8). But had an outstanding career at TMC, anyway. He would have looked pretty good for the old St. Thomas Tomcats alongside recent "NKY Hall of Famers" Carl Hafele and Matt "Gabby" Giesler. Maybe they could have even won the district.

Isn't there a season ticket/attendance requirement to be D1?

IMHO...not unless Elder & HHS are nationally ranked, undefeated, and game is televised by a national network (CBS/ESPN). A win at the Pit is HUGE...but a loss to Ryle/CovCath/Dixie etc...would make it severely less of an accomplishment. I guess what I'm tring to get at is: For next year, PLEASE BIRDS...one game at a time!

Wasn't pretty...but MAN it was NEEDED! Play of the game: 40 foot bank shot 3 to extend the lead with shot clock down to 1....CLUTCH!...................ok, lucky...but the cats were long over due for some of the bounces to go their way!

Watch the replays of the final inbounds play...right before it's tossed away from the basket to Knight, Harrelson comes open at point blank range for a game winning dunk...but alas the decision was for a 3.

EXCELLENT!! A true TEAM victory. Cash was wonderful orchestrating the point, Kilpatrick showed up BIG TIME! Yancy contributed....he's never going to be the bell cow that people are looking for, but he gave solid minutes...which is the best we can hope for at this point. And the rest of the Cats played some super, long-armed defense! Now the hard part...follow it up with another effort like this one! GO CATS!

Why in the world would those 2 boys be playing JV when they are to start the varsity game? Did some varsity players not show up? Doesn't make sense to me.
